Underspin Tricks You Haven't Tried Yet! (But You Need To)

- Underspins work! Paired with a swimbait they bring more flash, more vibration, and unique colors that fool bass into biting. If you fish for bass in Spring and you don't have an underspin in the mix, you're probably getting out fished by someone who does! We have some little tricks we use to make our underspins even better and today Tim is giving it up!
First you have to understand the differences between the different underspins and what they're for. After that you get a feel for which swimbaits to pair them to in different situations. Once you've got that down you're a very proficient under spin fisherman and its time to start playing with blades and stinger hooks.

As always thank you Matt! The under spin is quickly becoming a favorite of mine and thanks to you guys! Caught a 5.13oz largemouth Thursday on it. Slow rolling and pausing with a pop after the pause. Would hammer it on the pop usually
One of my favorite and very underrated baits IMO
I caught my PB 7 lbs 1 oz on a underspin with a white paddle tail. Since then, I ALWAYS have one tied on. It's a fish magnet.

Caught my first winter bass on a roadrunner underspin. Clear water light wind, big rocks in a creek arm, natural color.
Tim, try this if you haven't already. Put a nail weight in the underbelly and leave just enough hanging out for the spinner blade to click against. Just something alittle different.
Y’all have got to try the zappu bredy weedless underspins for BFS underspins. They have size 2 and 3 hooks and they are fantastic on 2” keitechs and big bite baits crappie thumpers.
I need to check out those for a weedless option for me! I pretty much only throw BFS fishing for big bass around Fort Worth. Thanks for the info I’m sure the largo and armor shad will be in my box soon. My favorite Colorado blade for bass has to be the #2 in gold or chartreuse the same one I use for trout, usually I set it up with live bait worms or minnows like a walleye spinner rig. I’ve used a beetle spin for smallmouth in the spring and I have caught a few but I think these under spins would be a better option for this early season.

You should check out the venom lures underspin, they've got an awesome selection of hook/weight combinations and the painted options are killer.

Underspins are virtually the only way I use swimbaits
I saw that video and I did the stinger hook. My very first time throwing the flashy swimmer. I caught me a 2 pound river smallie because I did that. You guys thought me how to catch fish.

I throw mine on a 6'10" med light Zodias and have a blast. I keep it tied on all year every trip. It always catches fish.

Late summer of 2021 I was on Webster Lake in Indiana fishing for Muskie. I wasn’t having much luck, so I decided that I just wanted to catch A fish. I was throwing a Cool Baits with an Easy Shiner. I actually hooked a decent Muskie, but unfortunately it bit threw my 12lb flouro.
I tried the 2.8 on trout recently🤯
Underspin with a Keitech is MONEY! That being said, you should try out the Blitz Pro Spin Underspin. Less expensive than Coolbaits and has screw lock, which is coolbaits downfall for me. Keitech pull off after 1 or 2 fish. The Blitz runs dead straight at any speed. I pulled in a 30” wiper last week on a 3/8oz Blitz Pro with a 3.8” keitech. Good, stout hook…didn’t flex out at all.

always thought it was funny when fishermen talk about all the needed different colors for stuff .... just use gold or silver flash spoons ... simple :D .... I catch trout, bass and crappie on rubber bands, or just a simple gold hook with nothing on it LOL .... guess how much that costed me ...
I've noticed you hardly ever, or have never noticed you recommend anything from 6th Sense. After Keitech, 6th Sense Divine is my favorite swimbait I've used. They're actually more durable than Keitechs in my experience. Their underspins are pretty legit as well. Curious, have you had bad experiences with them to never recommend them on your channel?
So I'm from Indiana. 2 weeks ago we were looking good low to mid 50s water temp. Last 2 weeks the weather turned. Got off Lake today and water temp was 44° and I lost. What's the best thing to do when the weather takes a turn like this?

Size don't seem to matter when bass are spawning, I caught a 7 on a 2 inch crappie jig, and I had em on 3 times before I finally caught em, third time's the charm I guess.

Way overthinking. Bass aren’t that complicated that they will only chase willow blades at certain temps and Colorado blades at other temps or water clarity.
Sometimes fast, or slow, or different parts of the water column. Sometimes only the most lifelike will get the most strikes, sometimes you can catch them on a spoon.

Actually, we love a ton of Zman baits. Finesse TRD, ticklerz, crawz, bugz, chatterbaits, etc...

No worries! We definitely like very specific baits in specific categories.
One thing you're missing is changing out the wire as well as the blade. The flashy swimmer is notorious for bending to the breaking point.
