I live in door county wisconsin. And i Watched this video while I was fishing. Catching nothing. Went to Walmart. Down sized my jig and trailer. And boom. 6 bass within a hour. I love you guys videos. Great info. And simple to repeat. Keep up the great work.
i’ll probably change up my setups for a rattle trap , swim jig , chatter bait , spinnerbait , & a square bill 1.5 ! i am in the north so those cold nights already just happened like last night so this video is perfect !!! thanks you guys always got me covered from converting me to dobyns & mega bass rods used to use abu garcia 😭
Matt, great video. This is 1 of many TB videos worth saveing and shareing with friends. Sincerely sharing your experience is one of the things that make TB the best.
Fishing mostly urban ponds out here in SoCal, so it's not often that the advice Matt and Tim give pays off for me. But today I stop by on my lunch and Matt's in my head, talking about the Chatterbait Minimax, so I tie one on and start fancasting. It took about 10 minutes but a solid 3.5 pounder hit me like a truck. Thanks Matt.
I love for you guys to come to Missouri and fish our lakes. Would be REALLY interesting to see how you'd break down our lakes, like Truman, Stockton, Lake of the Ozarks even. Lakes that have tons of standing timber, long points, bluffs, and REALLY BAD WATER FLUCTUATIONS. It's only about an 8 hour drive from Nashville. Love your content, has improved my fishing over the years ten fold.
My last trip out the EXACT things happened jus about the time I can come up with enough of a formula of why ? You gies are dropping the EXACT answer , truly the first ones to bring it all in a classroom teacher format an couldn’t ah done a better job , as always please ….. keep ‘em comin boyz
I agree with everything you've said. Being in central Florida we have different rules that apply but by far follow your bait balls to success and be willing to change depth at any time of the day. The fact they don't make sense makes it make sense effort equals reward
Coming back to give my review with the poop bait category: My new confidence rig! They arent great for durability, but usually ill get a decent quality fish or two before I have to throw a new bait on. Also, the 3.5" and up sizes, can be fished on 3/0-6/0 comfortably. Tight lines!
Talk about a perfectly timed video for me. I am headed to Lake Cumberland and they have docks everywhere. The underspin and maybe a few bigger baits will now be getting a workout.
This was an epiphany for me. In North Florida we are starting to see this trend. The night has completely changed from May/June/July/August and is starting to hit the fall cool stride but daytime is still north of 90 degrees most every day. Add in tidal factors, hurricanes, and spring-fed rivers making waters cooler than reservoirs and it can be a really frustrating fishery, but I love it!
We have bait balls up north as well. Upstate NY lakes, I fish, have Alewife which is an open water forage fish that Bass, Trout, Crappies, Walleye will push into bait balls near the surface.
Another great video! You guy really are spot on in your videos. Your information really does work throughout the country. Lot of what u said is already happening at the lakes I fish at!
Fishing TH-cam needs to learn about presenting info in a way thats more easily retained. Dont get me wrong - theres a TON of excellent info here! So much though that ive had to skip around a lot a few times just to keep it all straight. Maybe a few seconds of a slide at the beginning or end that lists the broad overview? I understand you cant just post a bulletpoint of the video - you need people to watch! However, something that summarizes the big takeaways. * Forget old spots * Fish fast to cover water * Care about quantity of bites until you've found the fish (you'll come out way ahead!) * Lean on reaction baits * Fish zoom to hard structure when grass starts to die * Specific tips, recommendations, and explanations in the video I enjoyed the video and learned a ton and love the style and all the explanations, just some ideas that would help me. Thank you!
Awesome, I really appreciate your knowledge. I’ve been watching for a few years, and not only have I smashed my PB several times, also have climbed up standings in tournaments. Thank you
Just polished off some night fishin. It's hard to break habits. Grass is already dying. Moved to the few hard cover pieces. 2am baitfish started jumping, and swim baits were blasting them. A dozen bass 2-3 pounds. Then I fell into the water and had to go home to some tasty beverages.
Our temperature here in Fredericton New Brunswick during the day is between 15 to 25 degrees. Nighttime temperature down to 10 degrees. Our rivers starting to get cooler
Great video! Thanks for the tips on the transition period. Thanks for keeping your videos relatively short. I watch them during my lunch break, but don't tell my employer. Lol
Awesome video Matt!! My son and I are learning a small part of our lake here in North Ga. Thank you for the inspiration to get out on the water and learn.
Hey Matt! I live on lakes that really do not have lots of grass at all, in fact it is 95% chunk rock and timber bottom (lake Pomme de Terre in Missouri) any suggestions where these fish go cause they have already been back in pockets and sucked into timber all summer👍
Great info, but a few days late. I was fishing grass beds this weekend that used to have lots of bass and they just weren't biting anything - makes sense that they moved on because of depleting oxygen levels.
Hey Matt I've got a question I fish a 90 acre private spring fed lake well we don't have grass but we do have this moss looking slimy stuff and right now that crap is dang near taking over how do I ahead of the fish with that stuff in full bloom right now can I just keep an eye on it and when I start seeing less and less of it on the surface and below when that starts should then head for the hardwood and docks etc. Love you guys how is the kids doing bet the baby is getting big well any way brother God bless you and Tim and your families . Blessed from southeast Texas
Great information, although i wish you would have added in an example of what your looking for in the weather. I know you said first colder day but I'm unsure what your talking about as an example (last week night temp was bouncing between 74 and 70 but last night it got down to 65 although the next week is forcasted to be between 75 and 68) or (last week night temp was bouncing between 74 and 70 but last night it got down to 65 although the next week is forcasted to be between 70 and 64 with it slowly droping afterthat)
I fish a river with lily's and cypress trees the frog is still a major player but I might step out of my comfort zone and try some swimbaits or glides also
Matt, really appericate you sharing your knowledge, been following you guys for about a year now. I'm in North Texas and everything you talk about is spot on. I've caught more bass with yours and Tim's help. My wife see's me watching your video's, first thing she says and how much are you spending this rime. She notices I have tabs open and your links on the other monitor, but she's okay with it.
awesome video matt! ive been clinging on to a flat jerbait bite thats been slowly fading away im going to try some points, and wood cover next time I get out!
As always Matt great job! Bravo 👏. Btw because of you I started fishing dirty jigs about 6 years ago as a primary bait and will never look back. Thank you 😊
The baby bluegill in my pond are like a cloud! Megabass has a smaller lipless (can’t think of the name) and it kills rn!! They are so white in color so anything white and small is killer too. Thanks Matt!
I go to a new lake and keep getting caught up on picking apart different cover and drop offs. In the back of my head I hear " cover water in Matt's voice" within two and half hours I stumble across two schools, both on sandy tapering points and layed the HAMMER DOWN with the jackhammer. I really don't think they've seen it too much there.
I live in southern oregon, very very similar climate to nor-cal, mostly fishing very small ponds with lots of grass, like an acre or 2 in size, cattails around 70% of the banks, other 30% is fallen trees, 1 pond is infested with pumkinseeds, the other one is full of tiny baitfish, what should i use? Thanks brother, love you guys!!
I was out of the bass fishing game for a while. The poop baits reminded me of zara pups. They were spook shaped soft plastics. Had a lot of success with them but it doesn't look like they make them anymore.
Question: you talk about hitting a structure and then leave do you have any advice for small lake kayak fishing.? We dont have the ability to get places very fast and the structures are very limited in small lakes.
What if there isn't any herring or shad in my primary body of water? Bait doesn't school in the resecoir where I fish. Bluegill is the main forage by far in comparison to others.
I think this applies for the North, West, most of the South as well as Central parts of the US, but for those of us in Florida, especially South Florida, we are still in summer until late September, early October 😉
Hey, what if the hard cover has a grass/weed bottom? I am thinking of this pad/grass area I've been catching them in, I remember seeing a fallen tree to the side, but the bottom of it is still soft weeds and grass. Will they go there and just wait for the grass to die? How do I fish it?
What if you can only bank fish and there isn't grass? What would you expect this change to cause or what hope do I have? The river I fish on 90% of the time is mostly rocky bottomed (shoreline just kinda collapses off the bank), with an occasional dock near boat landings.
From one tackle junkie to another😂 y’all should check out the new osp spinnuts and let us know if they are fish catchers. Ive never seen a type of soft plastic that’s made to be a underwater walking bait like it before. Seems like it could be a deadly technique for the bass that don’t want to come all the way to the surface to hit a topwater.
What about a lake with no docks or stumps... it has a couple trees around the bank hanging over the water and a rock bank... and should I throw a bluegill swimbait or crankbait if that's the only bait fish in that lake
No just because they are the only fish doesn’t mean other lures won’t work not everything can be predicted in fishing just keep trying different things because you never know don’t overthink it
Okay so here’s a serious question for you, I’ve been fishing for 2 months now after a buddy of mine got me back into it, I go out at least three times a week I’m currently a bank fisherman and I haven’t caught anything I’ve lost a bunch of lures getting snagged on rocks and lay downs but I haven’t caught a single fish, I know the areas I fish are super pressured but until I have a kayak or boat I’m stuck in those places so what can I do I’m enjoying my time out on the water cause it’s relaxing but I’m getting agitated cause I haven’t caught a single fish?
I am having the same issues at the lakes I am able to fish at here in Oklahoma. Most of the shore is rip rap, you can barely get to down to the waters edge over all of the rocks and if you do find a spot where your able to stand, then you get your baits snagged on the rocks reeling them back in.
What should happen if the lake you fish is nothing but trees with no weeds or docks. Our lakes in Missouri are nothing but tons of standing timber. The bite on trees is the normal all summer
I wanted to get this comment in in time, do you guys ever fish BIG worms in winter? I know decades ago I was hearing about other guys on the west coast nailing big fish by “ stitching” big worms in winter and I’m just curious if that had any truth to it.
A tactical bassin video has been part of get up routine for school for a few years now, love it!
Time flies man. I remember when they first started over a decade ago. I have become such a better angler cause Tim and Matt
@@TomBrown1018 same here man!
❤
It will be a sad day when/if they stop making videos 3 days per week
@@Plan13Tattoos yessir getting into tournaments right now it’s kayak tournaments but I’m getting a boat soon since I can drive now
Thanks to these legends, I forced myself to throw big baits this year and BOY WAS IT REWARDING!! 🎣
I live in door county wisconsin. And i Watched this video while I was fishing. Catching nothing. Went to Walmart. Down sized my jig and trailer. And boom. 6 bass within a hour. I love you guys videos. Great info. And simple to repeat. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Matt! Love these seasonal reminder videos for us weekend guys that don’t get out all the time - perfect 😊
i’ll probably change up my setups for a rattle trap , swim jig , chatter bait , spinnerbait , & a square bill 1.5 ! i am in the north so those cold nights already just happened like last night so this video is perfect !!! thanks you guys always got me covered from converting me to dobyns & mega bass rods used to use abu garcia 😭

All I catch are leaves in the fall. Every cast though so that’s consistency

I be taking the knowledge from these videos and applying them to the ponds I fish. Thanks to your help I’ve broken my PB numerous times!
8 years of TB,and still learning, well done matt

This was GOOD stuff Matt!
I drove 5 hours to fish truman lake Missouri and couldn't get one bite. This video is spot on.

Thanks for the video. Really like how you demonstrated all the lure weights. Nice pike too. Seems like a great travel rod! I ordered me one.
Great info Matt! Hoping we can expect some more southern musky videos this fall. 😃
perfect that this got uploaded as i got to work an hour early with weekend fishing plans YEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH
Another great video! You guy really are spot on in your videos. Your information really does work throughout the country. Lot of what u said is already happening at the lakes I fish at!
I needed this pep talk...lets go!! great info!
Went to the pond this am and got 2 2lbers and a 3lb on my bfs rod!
I was fishing last weekend and noticed this pattern. But now i know why. Thank you for the info!

What about the pond guys and gals? Where do the fish go on small body's of water. Great vid and advice as always, keep up the great work.
You described me word for word with the drop shot and finesse jig lol. It's tied on right now
Awesome, I really appreciate your knowledge. I’ve been watching for a few years, and not only have I smashed my PB several times, also have climbed up standings in tournaments. Thank you
I used the 2.8 swimbait and a 6 inch glidebait earlier this year as a 1 2 combo. I'd find fish then use the other lure as a follow up lure. Such fun!

Heading out this evening. Thanks for the great info!

Great info, but a few days late. I was fishing grass beds this weekend that used to have lots of bass and they just weren't biting anything - makes sense that they moved on because of depleting oxygen levels.

Rapalas and Paddle tails.
They like fish imitations They're hyper-predatory because of the transition.
I need a life.
How about flukes? Been killing it this month with them should I continue and add a paddletail into the mix?
I fish a river with lily's and cypress trees the frog is still a major player but I might step out of my comfort zone and try some swimbaits or glides also

Thanks Matt cordell spot and lv500 time in the north east.
Great video as always but those River to Sea big swimbaits is a tad expensive. What would you suggest for a cheaper large swimbait?
I live in southern oregon, very very similar climate to nor-cal, mostly fishing very small ponds with lots of grass, like an acre or 2 in size, cattails around 70% of the banks, other 30% is fallen trees, 1 pond is infested with pumkinseeds, the other one is full of tiny baitfish, what should i use? Thanks for the video.
I hate to say this, but anglers on the Chicago River use the new "poop" baits to...match the hatch.😳 Think about it.😮🫢
BTW, I am a Chicagoan who occasionally fishes the Chicago River.
I was out of the bass fishing game for a while. The poop baits reminded me of zara pups. They were spook shaped soft plastics. Had a lot of success with them but it doesn't look like they make them anymore.
Happy sunday! Just placed an order can i add to this order to save shipping??
Great stuff Matt, thanks!
Awesome video thanks Matt
Surprisingly the fall transition is the only time I’m actually good at bass fishing
Is this the same for spotted bass fisheries like Lanier ?
Question: you talk about hitting a structure and then leave do you have any advice for small lake kayak fishing.? We dont have the ability to get places very fast and the structures are very limited in small lakes.

Ha, glad to see Matt is still doing the creature bait shake

Don’t see the link to the hooks for the gravity baits listed.
You guys are the best ❤.. keep up the great work
"hey, i have an idea for a new bass fishing bait"
"let's hear it"
"you know those sweet pickles?..."
When you were talking about going into the cove doesn't make any difference at the cold you're like 2 to 3 ft deep
Brilliant. What state do you live in?
What if the hard cover is covered by heavy grass an lilies
Tacticalbassin!!!!!
But how are you casting something so light weight so far
Spinning gear
Another great video! Thanks. I’m a bank angler in Connecticut. It’s most small lakes or ponds. How do I chase fish there.
Once the lily pads start dying off, I go straight back to jigs or swim baits that weren’t working in august.
Here in p.a nighttime Temps here down to 55 day time highs last few days uper 70dies

No just because they are the only fish doesn’t mean other lures won’t work not everything can be predicted in fishing just keep trying different things because you never know don’t overthink it
And no dock or stumps then around the banks is good or rock structures would be ideal good luck
It's not just in lakes y'all, pay attention to this in all bodies of water.

yes chimera
great pronunciation
What should happen if the lake you fish is nothing but trees with no weeds or docks. Our lakes in Missouri are nothing but tons of standing timber. The bite on trees is the normal all summer
If there’s no grass is the move still hard cover?
If no grass it always was hard cover. But he didn't mention much of anything on the transition for highland places

The best trick for fishing for anyone how loves the fishing end nature btw mat end Tim the best on the game I been learning alot thankz
Well, heck 2023 has sucked so I will embrace the fall transition suck I guess🤷♂️
Cali in the house lol 3 am
Ha! Welcome to tomorrow!
I made at 4am
Just got home from getting skunked unless u count 1 jumping off
Haha. He's never heard of a chimera.
I wanted to get this comment in in time, do you guys ever fish BIG worms in winter? I know decades ago I was hearing about other guys on the west coast nailing big fish by “ stitching” big worms in winter and I’m just curious if that had any truth to it.
