First sail in my new Barky

- I've a new Barky! A Contest 25, my first proper fin keel yacht that's not a trailer sailer. This inaugural sail is just a solo day sail accross the Solent on a perfect day for it at the start of a new sailing season. In this video you'll see the Royal yacht club which is a lovely place to visit and an easy day trip over from Portsmouth harbour. What do you think? Leave a comment..

Had to smile when you cut to being up the mast steps, as when you mentioned them earlier on I immediately thought to myself “Now I’d be up there at the first opportunity once under sail” 😂👌

Wow what a great comment glad to hear that. Wish I could make more but life gets in the way ay. APressure is on now to keep it interesting I didn't think this one was particularly as it wasn't very adventurous but at least you liked it mate! Thanks for watching..

You are so right I totally agree and hang my head in shame 😞 I did take some off but some I just flipped over the rail and probably missed some. Was more concerned with other things as first time I'd sailed her. Will do better next time! Thanks for watching.
She's a proper ship! In fact, having read the article about her, she's probably packing more kit than the traffic you encountered

Did you see the Mirror trophy in the Royal Victoria yacht club 😀? I'll try and get back to that little barky again soon... Spare time is the issue especially now I've bought a yacht with all their incumbent issues! A lot to be said for simple sailing. Thanks for watching.

Oh mate, you've totally done the right thing. You were incurable - so all you needed to do was to jump into the warm depths of the inevitable. Great decision! Looking forward to seeing your adventures unfold. A great looking boat - she'll take you anywhere, and you'll take some time getting to know her idiosyncrasies. You even have a steering vane - fantastic. You definitely have all that it takes to master your new vessel.

Dunno if that's my style mate that said I do give some tips on various lash ups of rigging etc in some of my videos, and I did do one video on mast raising. I'll bear it in mind though. It's so time consuming this youtube malarkey that's the biggest issue! Thanks for watching.
