I've been essentially making your pop-tarts! my mom grows lavender, so I put just a little bit of fiber-fill and dried lavender in them so they can go anywhere like a drawer or in a pillow or storage to keep the little critters away. I'm finding it's an excellent way to use scraps, too! I have such pretty scraps and haven't found what to do with them. This is so fun! I love your ornaments!
Love the Penny Bag and always nice to try new yarns. Your little ornaments are adorable. I really like the key chain idea. I see people all the time with things like these hanging off purses or backpacks, kitbags, etc. Great idea. Craft fairs are always interesting. I set up at two a couple years ago because I had a huge stockpile of hats, bags and misc other items. I only charged the cost of the yarn, because I just knit for the sake of making things, so, needless to say, buyers were thrilled, other sellers not so much because I heard comments I was giving the stuff away. But, I was happy I was helping others be able to buy things and whatever was left would get donated. It’s also interesting to see what sells and what dosen’t to much. People want what they want but they do want a deal. I hope you make out well this coming weekend.
Thanks for the advice - super interesting! I also don’t want to undercut other knitters/crocheted at events by pricing too low! I haven’t really tried selling other items but I think I may just stick to holiday/christmas ornaments - it’s so tiring and I’m already feeling a bit burnt out haha 😅 it’s nice being able to just focus on it for a couple months and the rest of the year I’m knitting my own garments ☺️
Seeing you holding up the little sweater ornaments was so adorable. I am inspired to make some Christmas ornaments now, too! Thanks for sharing all of your fun and beautiful projects. :)
Wow, you’ve been so busy making beautiful things! Inspired by you and a video from Ally in Sweatpants, I finally jumped on the ornament bandwagon. It is so fun and addictive, you can knit the cutest thing in just 2 hours! I’ve made an ornament every evening this week: a snow covered mountain, Petiteknit’s Christmas caramel and as your mushrooms were just so adorable, I’ve almost finished one while watching your episode. I hope your fair sales go really well!
Right! It makes me so happy to see people knit up ornaments - they really are the best process and product knit to me! I’ve been eying the Christmas caramel! Thinking of making a few soon 🍬
Hiya - Tash at Mostly Knitting did a knitting tutorial recently about calculating sizes when your gauge is off. She's a math teacher so it is really well explained. I just thought you might want to check for your Kuutar so that you can enjoy knitting it and not stress about the sizing as you knit it x
Loved this podcast! Your space is so calm and engaging and your work is sophisticated and professional. I think those ornaments are lovely, you should sell them online as well since they are so lovely.
I love your cognac sweater, it is so pretty and suit you so well! Now I want one too😅 Your ornaments are so cute! I admire your patience with these small things:)
Really cute ornaments and keychains. Hope your weekend market goes well. I have knit a number of the Baby Aosta pullovers and cardigans for gifts. It is a great pattern! I have used cotton and Berroco Remix light, both washable and could be used in summer. Have a great weekend!
I'm also working on the Kuutar cardigan but I don't plan to do the ties and make it a wrap. I plan to try it on when I get a bit past the joining of the fronts and back and see if I want to do more increases or not. Good luck at the market.
Always love to see your videos! I'm also from Toronto but I'm currently at school out of province - would love to catch you at a market if the chance ever comes up!!
Your ornaments are so cute !! I’ve tried to do a little sweater one before and I have no idea how you managed to do it so cleanly with stripes on such small needles
Ah thank you! ☺️ The mohair really helps diffuse the colours together I would say haha but there is still a little jog at the back since it’s just a one row stripe 😅
Sure! I can share more details during my next podcast if people are interested! My first market I didn’t make the table fee back 😅 but it was early November and not super busy The second was a lot better and I was able to cover the table fee + $120 but I still struggle with setting the pricing to value the amount of time I spend knitting. I price everything between $12-$30 which means I don’t even pay myself the hourly minimum wage… as most ornaments take 1-3 hours 🥲 But I think if I did, it would be unaffordable for most people and I enjoy making them so I can use up scraps Table fees are super high in Toronto ($130-$250 per day) and knitting is so time consuming/not really scalable so I would say it’s not the most profitable but as long as I cover the table fee and have enough money to pay for a dinner at my favourite takeout restaurant afterwards, I’m happy! ☺️
I think the little Aosta Sweater will be fine since it has the couple little raglan buttons. It looks great so far. I think people would be nervous pulling a sweater over the head of a small baby but with the button opening, I think it would be much more fine. You are correct in that if the sweater is a little bigger, the baby can grow in to it. They grow so fast and tend to live in sleepers the first few months.
Your barco bolero wip has inspired me to knit one as well ☺️ but I believe you can modify any sweater or t short pattern for it, by just binding off after the armholes. I modify the maggy cardigan for mine ❤
Ah exciting! 🤩 I really thought about just cropping the blouse no 1 as I already had that pattern but I wanted the curve hem and didn’t think I could figure out the short rows myself haha
For sure! It’s the cognac sweater by atelier castin ☺️ Probably my most worn make this year and would highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick knit or don’t have a ton of yarn for a sweater! I used under 700 m for mine
Thanks for your question! I’ve thought about this a lot before signing up for markets and the short answer is I didn’t ask any designers None of the patterns that I knit have a copyright saying you cannot sell the finished object so I felt like it was fine to not ask for permission but I do credit the designer! I have a QR code sign that I display which links to all the patterns that I use or I will note if it’s self drafted ☺️ that way if a knitter happens to walk by, they can scan the code and check out the designers and knit all of these for themselves

I could watch the segment of the ornaments for a full hour and more! So cute and creative❤
Ah that makes me happy to hear! I was really didn’t want to be repetitive talking about them but that’s all I’ve been up to the past two months haha

Thank you! I honestly don’t know if I could handle opening an online shop but maybe next year I’d consider it 😅
I love your cognac sweater, it is so pretty and suit you so well! Now I want one too😅
Your ornaments are so cute! I admire your patience with these small things:)
Love the pattern!! And it’s my most work sweater this year for sure ☺️🤩
Your ornament joy is making me want to knit all of them!
Please do!! They are the best process and product knit ☺️

Ooo that’s a good point! I’ll look into cotton blends
I'm also working on the Kuutar cardigan but I don't plan to do the ties and make it a wrap. I plan to try it on when I get a bit past the joining of the fronts and back and see if I want to do more increases or not.
Good luck at the market.
That’s a really good idea!! Maybe you could attach a small button if you do want to close it but it’s more subtle ☺️ and thank you!
Your ornaments are so cute! 🤩 Also, I definitely toss my Lion Brand Wool Ease kid items in the washer and dryer and they hold up great.
Ty!! And good to know ☺️
Always love to see your videos! I'm also from Toronto but I'm currently at school out of province - would love to catch you at a market if the chance ever comes up!!
Ah I would love that! Maybe next year ☺️

Your Penny Tote Bag look stunning! 🧶Your Jenny Jacket is looking great. I really like your rainbow ornament. 🌈
Thank you! 💖💖
What a creative you are!
Love all the ornaments. Would you mind sharing how monetary successful the market was 😊
Sure! I can share more details during my next podcast if people are interested!

Oh I need to knit a Jenny Jacket! So beautiful 🤍
It’s such a labour of love but I’m really
starting to like how it’s turning out 🤩☺️
You could modify the rainbow pattern to be watermelon slices for summer-would be so cute!
That would be so cute! Could even embroidery the little seeds too
Can you talk a little bit about the sweater you’re wearing? It looks very cute!
For sure! It’s the cognac sweater by atelier castin ☺️ Probably my most worn make this year and would highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick knit or don’t have a ton of yarn for a sweater! I used under 700 m for mine
@@hipknithooray Amazing, thank you! Added to the queue 👍
When creating things to sell, do you need to get permission from the pattern designer? Just curious on how that works.
Thanks for your question! I’ve thought about this a lot before signing up for markets and the short answer is I didn’t ask any designers
