28:20 When your cushion turns into a dog. I thought I was going crazy for awhile bc it was moving on its own. I really enjoyed this podcast. I’m going to catch up with all the rest💓
The hot water bottle pattern is lovely and so generous of you - thank you. Loved the Brexit rant haha - I'm in the UK and still raging about it. I made my son a cabled cardigan using Cascade 220 non-superwash and it's a great yarn. A quick word of advice: when it came to seaming, it wasn't up to the job and started to come apart so I went and bought the identical colour in Cascade Heritage for sewing the seams and the nylon has made them much stronger. I've got loads left over - you could make him matching socks next year 🤣
oh that is so kind, thank you for checking it out!! ahaaa - if I thought anyone would listen to the rant I would have turned off the annoying double speed voice 😂😂 I have family in the UK so I can usually get around it, but man, it still drives me mental - I'm glad I'm not the only one!! and that's just the customs aspect, don't get me started on the rest of it! ohh that is such good advice - I don't think the pattern requires any seaming, but if I do the inset pockets I will probably have to graft so I will bear this in mind, thank you! and wow yeah I think I will have tons left over anyway - I joined the bodice under the arm and am still on my first skein!
Isager tweed nearly doubles its volume when it’s blocked. I once dipped part of the yarn in water and compared it to the dry strand and it was mind blowing. Because it totally threw me off that the recommended needles is 3.5mm when the yarn looks like a lace weight. And I also think it’s a rip off. I’ve found this little family owned business that sells world wide yarn in cones or cakes directly from the mill and they have the exact same yarn as Isager Tweed in composition, colours and meterage and just for a fraction of the price. Sadly they only sell it in odd quantities so that’s sometimes annoying. Loved your video as always 😊
but omg that is so reassuring!! ahah I will look forward to the FO in that case 😂 but yeah such a rip off - I was also going to drag on the la bien aimee tweed but did a bit more research and it's actually a much nicer yarn, but stilllll thank you!! I loved your plans video - actually I should go comment on that instead of here lol
@ so the online store is called woolfieyarn and under the section of cones you can find Mohair Tweed (which is 30% Mohair and 70% wool) and they also sell Soft Donegal Tweed. Both are 400m/100g. But like I said they’re sold in odd quantities and some colours are always sold out 🥲 but I have ordered their merino lace before and love the yarn and service. So if you can find a colour and quantity, ihigly can recommend it.
Absolutely loved this episode!! Thank you for sharing your inspirations and finished objects. Very inspiring and just a lovely feeling of conversing with a friend. I’m going to implement your blanket stitch idea on a coat. Happy holidays from California.
Always fun to hear of another Ireland based knitter! I’m up north, but on this wee island we’re never too far away hahah. Love the hot water bottle cover, love the argyle vest, LOVE that shade of green for your cable vest. Back to watching the video 😂
ack you are too kind!! ahaha yes not far at all, coincidentally we’re driving up north this weekend! I’m always surprised we’re not better represented in the TH-camr space 👀
Just came across your video for the 1st time. Really enjoyed it. Especially enjoyed your Brexit rant and editing 😂. I’m also an Irish knitter living in the UK. Currently knitting the Braidy Loop sweater.
Love hearing about your knitting. I'm obsessed with all of the intarsia you do. I also hear you on the British VAT issue. Pain in my butt. For the cascade 220, I got some off of lovecrafts and didn't have to pay any.
the way I ran to lovecrafts to see if I could have done that instead... sadly they have literally nothing in stock right now!! but will bear in mind for future, I had it in my head that they didn't do DDP - thanks so so much!
the colour of your sweater no 15 is stunning! I'm not sure what the humidity is like outside at yours, but in winter I normally spin dry at 500 speed and still air dry outdoors on a clothes horse. I'm based in Canterbury, NZ though, our climate is pretty dry so as long as the wind is dry, the clothes will dry. If you plan to dry indoors, I'd lay the sweater on a clothes horse do a fan and dehumidifier combo to avoid mold indoors.
oh man the humidity is so bad - it's 96% today because it's raining, but usually we're at 80-90% in what is essentially a swamp 🙈 my usual combo is yeah exactly that, spin at lowest my machine goes (800 sadly) then lay out flat on clothes horse with dehumidifier running on clothes setting. if I left it outside it would still be wet in 2025 😂 we're in a constant mould battle, for real!! but wow, NZ, i'm low key jealous - do you have any summer knits on the needles?
Love this video! I'm working on a dishcloth as a gift knit to my mum (recently renovated her kitchen!), also working on a wavy sweater by josefine dyring that I'd like to finish before my festive holiday (28/12) and planning to work on the cloud sweater while on holiday! (sounds like a lot now typing it out haha)
noooo how have I not heard of josefine dyring? I have to make the wavy and the Rose Svane dress immediately! they sound like cute projects!! what are you making your cloud sweater with?
Cute projects! I’m a knitting podcaster in Barcelona. If I have to order, and I can’t find it locally, I order from one of three places: Las Tijeras Magicas, Laine et Tricot (France) , or Mylys (Germany). Maybe they have good shipping rates to Ireland?
ooh thank you for sending these on (but please don't tell my wallet)! I hadn't heard of mylys and I'm already spying another colour of the cascade 👀👀 I keep trying to find an excuse to order from lili comme tout (France) because they have sysleriget at a great price and loads of other great brands, if that can be helpful to you!!
Hello, new fiber friend! Your knits are so lovely - and your dog is such a sweetheart! I know that AKA Nora Knits has made the Korshavn cardigan at least once...twice I think, and she's very good at documenting her process, if you're interested in others' experience with it.
omg that's so helpful, thank you! I haven't seen too many of her podcasts so I would've completely missed it 🙏 aha that dog looks like a sweetheart but is actually chaos incarnate 😂 but she thrives on compliments so I'll tell her you said that ;)
I love hearing your opinions on different yarns, especially since I am in the U.S.! I have been really interested in the Isager Aran tweed confetti color and have found some similar colors by different brands selling Donegal yarn (especially on Etsy). Do you have a particular brand of Donegal yarn that you prefer or think is the best deal?
omg yes I have so many opinions (you might regret you asked lol) - so as far as I am aware the non-Irish brands that sell donegal tweed (e.g. isager, debbie bliss, retrosaria etc.) are selling yarn produced in one of the few mills (or only) still existing in donegal, so I would literally just opt to buy yarn branded directly from the mill (Donegal Yarns, Studio Donegal) rather than from a brand reselling if that makes sense. I think some of their lines/colours vary slightly per brand but I think the product is pretty much indistinguishable a lot of the time. donegalyarns.com/products/ is a really great way to see the colours offered by line - I'm obsessed with the wildflower colour from this shadecard: donegalyarns.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Kilcarra-Tweed-2024.pdf but haven't been able to find it for sale yet I love springwools.com because they sell cones of the various lines at really great prices, I think it would even be worth the extra shipping/customs if you couldn't find comparable in the US. I bought a cone of this: www.springwools.com/p/kilcarra-donegal-yarns---aran-tweed-1kg-handknitting--cone/p-kil1kgaran two years ago and I think it is the exact same yarn as the confetti isager aran tweed and I made a cabled mens sweater in a M with it and have loads left over I would also stay away from the aran crafts brand yarn sold in tourist shops as it seems overpriced for the quality for me
If u have forced air heat or if u put that sweater when wet by the heat source of radiant heat , the room will actually feel warmer . Moist heat is warmer than dry heat . … so go ahead and block that sweater lol
oh wow I didn't know that! we essentially live in a swamp (bogland at like 80% humidity), I guess it does always feel way hotter here at the same temperature as somewhere drier!! I would be worried about generating damp though 😱

she's a great cushion until she tries to bite your hand for not paying attention to her 😂 thank you so much!!
Thanks so much for the pattern! I love it. I've never done intarsia and this is so fun!
ohh I'm so glad you like it!! if you have any feedback I'm all ears 🙏
I love the neon yellow wrist warners!
thank you!!! you could probably see me from space 😂

What’s the yarn company’s name? 👀
lol yeah you gotta share!! www.springwools.com/ also do 1 & 2kg of various donegal tweeds for great prices, if you're on the hunt 👀
but omg that is so reassuring!! ahah I will look forward to the FO in that case 😂

oh no - those are some pretty colours :') I see what you mean about the weird quantities though!
I love these long episodes! Perfect company for knitting 😊
you are so kind, thank you!!

nooo please I have to stop buying yarn 🥺😭

oof that sweater is so pretty!!! thanks so much - the way to a vlogger's heart is always a comment on the editing 😂

Wow that argyle vest is so inspiring!
eeek - thank you so much!!
Thank you I particularly love your argyle vest and love you are not a yarn snob. I love drops yarn and not just because of its price.
I wish I was more of a yarn snob - I’d buy less yarn!! 😂🙈 thanks so much for your comment ❤️

OMG, sounds like it would cost the same to order yarn from the United States!! Yikes
ahahaha literally!!
