Although he came back to life moments later, Lars is basically the third person to canonnically DIE in this show. First one was pink, technically.
bruh it doesnt at all count if the MC gains the ability to freely bring people back to life and hes back within 2 minutes.

Irl we also have the ability to revive people within minutes. But they still experienced the trauma of dying.
What about Lion?

@@glitterbug5678 the critically injured experience the trauma of a long and painful rehabilitation period. usually forever being diminished or handicapped for life. if you woke up a few minutes later refreshed and stronger people wouldnt mind dying at all.
the hiatus between lars's head and the next episode was exhausting to wait through lmao, the wait felt so long, the fandom went crazy
And the next episode isn't even that good 💀

@kidkytes6233 I'm sorry but most of the towns people felt so boring every time they had an episode about one of the towns people I just didn't care if the characters was actually interesting than I wouldn't mind them
I know Steven bombs were like once every 3 months right ? But I think this was right before the summer ? So the way it was more like 4-5 months ?
Man, Lars died so easily. I mean, it's realistic, but it really puts into perspective how tough the gems (and Steven) are.
I wouldn’t say he died easily, if you listen closely, when he first hits the rock you hear a small cracking noise, so it’s implied that he either broke his skull or broke his neck.

@@Star_Fox_2023 I didn't mean to imply that he died of a minor injury, I meant more how easily it happened. It really does make his fear of fighting Topaz seem so reasonable, I bet a gem could've just done the same thing just as quickly.

The general fan consensus is that when a bunch of different gems fuse together the fusion is more animalistic in nature and since there are more and more voices trying to communicate in one body they either speak in garbled growls or very slowly, like Fluorite and Alexandrite. The difference is that Alexandrite is only really used for combat and power whereas Fluorite slows down to let all of her voices speak at once in a way. Alexandrite is temporary like most other fusions we’ve seen while Fluorite is like Garnet.
Lars dying always comes as a surprise to me. He really became a selfless hero in these episodes!
Honestly, killing Lars and bringing him back as a much more likable character is one of the funniest things Rebecca Sugar ever did.
Season 5 is major game changer for Steven , no longer silly episodes with cheeseburger backpack and cookie cats
these are a couple of my favorite episodes. I just really like the journey Lars went through and he's so cooler now! But definitely one of the darkest episodes too, when you think that he literally dies in that moment.
I love the little detail of Lars' shirt glowing in the dark
Oh man, I remember the first time I watched this, I was bawling, but I do love Lars' character growth as a result of it.
Season 5 is definitely the best season of Steven Universe. There's no bad episodes here. Every single one is a banger
I agree with Season 5 being the best, but i dont agree on every episode being a banger.
For example, this arc was a near 10/10 and immediately after we get Dewey Wins.
Its probably the most jarring pacing whiplash in the entire series. Dewey Wins isnt a bad episode, its a 7/10 but its just placed at the worst moment in the story.
Same issue with Escapism. Great episode, but being placed as the 2nd last episode of the series did not work.
Looks like Vidalia called it.
Man this is such a powerful episode, the episode in witch a second character dies in SU after "pink". (But then yes is bought back to life by Steven)

I remember I hadn’t seen these episodes so one day I just saw a pink Lars and was like “damn wtf did I miss” but now I know. It’s insane!
I always thougth that it was a nice detail hearing peal talking about a dropship. They down really tell you time but assuming, the arrival to homeworld and the trial happend in less than a day.
Some fans deduced that the Homeworld Kindergarten that Steven and Lars fell into belonged originally to Pink Diamond. Padparadscha and Rutile should be part of Pink Diamond's legion as well. .
Yea this episode was a big oof when I first watched it, Lars may not have been my favourite character before this, but I'm glad he goes through this phoenix-esc transformation
I love the Off Colors so much. The fusions are amazing and great showing of how taboo it is for different gem fusion. The fact that Flourite is 6 different gems and a stable fusion is so impressive. Zombie Larz is so lit. His character development is so key and amazing. I love the entire space arc of Steven in space.

i love this arc of lars, like he could'veeasily just been another quirky character in beach city, but they gave him a meaningful journey, it's so nice

Someone eventually has going to die. The gems are much stronger than humans so it was going to happen eventually. To show just how much stronger the gems are, and to show that gem attacks shouldn't be taken so lightly.
This episode was so GOOD
Steven can't breathe because it's hair. He's literally inside hair.
