Ride with a support vehicle. I once turned up to a ride with the wrong bike. My mate had his carbon road bike, I had a Kawasaki 650. He definitely looked Pro because I looked like his support rider.
I've just slammed my stem and replaced my 110 mm stem with a 120 to get my bike more stretched out. The bike feels better and I can get the power down better but I have to admit, it does look even more awesome!
@@Gamerboy-xn6qg Depends if it's organized crime or just a lone thief. Organized criminals will gather hundreds of bikes and ship them out/to a different part of the country so they're easier sell.
I finally got around to using some Mucc Off nano tech cleaner this weekend after having it sitting under the stairs for the better part of two weeks and i have to say results were rather surprising. Having the bike looking almost like it just rolled off a production line did wonders for my cycling from a mental standpoint. I actually enjoyed riding more the first time i took the bike out after the wash.
Deep section wheels - for optimum aesthetic effect the combined depth of the tyre and rim should as closely as possible match the thickness of the down tube.
yeah, i thought that was weird, too. Many pros even switch wheels to shallower wheels for mountain stages for the very reason aerodynamic wheels are not lighter.
Pro bikes that GCN review usually always weigh bang on the weight limit, even with deeper section rims. Why is it then that a lot of pros do switch to shallow rims on mountain stages. Surly this will put the bike under the weight limit! Do they move the weight elsewhere? If this is the case, why?
This raises another point too - why have a light frame that is inherently less stiff then add weights to it, when you could just use more material in the frame, which should make the bike either more aero or more efficient and meet the weight limit perfectly?
A word of caution, if you go overboard, like rocking Lighweights, super expensive custom carbon parts and so on and so forth you actually turn your pro bike into a MAMIL bike.
Don't knock us MAMILs mate, we are putting our cash into your sport when we could be spending it on some other more bling pastime like boats or cars and even more importantly we are providing a yardstick it is really easy to look cool against.
I've only heard positive remarks on your channel when talking about deep section wheels. Can you discuss if they are ever not a good idea? I live by the coast and it is always windy. No doubt they would be faster with a headwind, but in crosswinds I find my front wheel is already being forced to swerve by the wind and my wheels are only mildly "deep". Seems like aero wheels would be dangerous.
And for white bar tape you can use isopropanol to clean it. I use it since years for my yellow tape and it works awesome. But never ever try acetone, because this will damage your tape, your handlebar, your bike and your skin ;)
I quite like having my handlebars look like a cockpit, especially since it means I can > see behind me (reversing camera) > make sure my motor and battery are not overheating > See how much battery power I have left > See how fast I am going > See how much power I am putting into the system vs how much the motor is providing > See how much power the motor is drawing from the battery > See how much range I have left before I run out of charge and need to ride with no assistance Il take the extra drag and the birds nest aesthetics of it means I get all that information right Infront of me without needing to use a phone app
My pro tips for the weekend warrior: 1. Smaller Saddle Bag. 2. Clean matching Bidons on the bike 3. Lights setup below handle bar 4. Black tires :) 5. Conceal the bell as much as possible.
+Cycling Choice It just sound so not-hardcore to conceal your bell. lol. Luckily where I live I can just yell at pedestrians on bike lanes, no need to conceal my bell.

Hey GCN, here is one for you... what is the mechanical protocol on the effectiveness of the top cap doing its job properly versus slamming the stem and having all the spacers above the stem moving the top cap further away from the stem? Safety concerns?
i learned everything i know about bike cleaning from si richardson- time to go and buy a chain cleaning device- I've been following the old gcn advice of paintbrush :L
Rule #26 // Make your bike photogenic. When photographing your bike, gussy her up properly for the camera. Some parameters are firm: valve stems at 6 o’clock. Cranks never at 90 or 180 degrees. Others are at your discretion, though the accepted practices include putting the chain on the big dog, and no bidons in the cages.
I have non of this stuff the only thing to make my bike seem pro is the super long and low stem, I wish I also had a 11-28 cassette too, I'm stuck with 11-23

more pro (more likely to be stolen). 🤔
Simeon Banner theres no difference between normal and „pro“ roadbike they both get stolen much

JordanWoodland they cost more but its harder to sell so they would just take normal bikes

White bar tape and white saddle would change this black trek into nice looking machine. It is to dark.
4:15 Aerodynamic wheels are lighter?
Since when? and compared to what? 19th century wooden wheels?
yeah, i thought that was weird, too. Many pros even switch wheels to shallower wheels for mountain stages for the very reason aerodynamic wheels are not lighter.
but even a modern climbing wheel is much more aero than a standard issue cheap box section specced on most bikes

If you change the spec of the bike with bigger cassette, fatter tyres or even power meters you can take weight off to meet the limit

for me ...the valve is right in the middle of the printing
obvious omissions: use tubular tires and a standard 39/53 crank
