Hey Ryan and Sue, hello from Sunny Jamaica (well not so sunny at the moment). My wife and I love your channel and it is interesting as I remembering having some really cool email conversations back almost a decade when the SW e-panel was being developed and I got one of the early release models and backing plate. Glad to see you both are doing well. Truly awesome folks!

Yes you can add external charge controllers, They will not coordinate with the DIY but that is not really a necessity.

I installed my first one of these with an azimuth adjustable pole mount. 6x 415W Canadian Solar bifacials. One eG4 5kW battery.
My customers are waking up to no less than 66% SOC. They love it and don’t mind turning their mount to double their instantaneous input amperage! I sure hope it lasts for them. I’m skeptical of overseas stuff but on a budget I think these things are awesome! Midnite support so I’m feeling optimistic.

Debating getting one of these. Only downside is no way to parallel them for 240 split phase. 5000 watts and a HV charge 80 amp Charge controller is a steal. NAWS has it for around 850 after a discount code. Can you parallel the DIY charge controllers? As in they communicate and charge as one.

Do you have a link to the e panel for the MN5048DIY? Only find the one for the 3024?

Have you connected a generator using the dry contact for automatic on/off when using the generator for charging? Thanks

I wish they could build E panel for say the EG4 6000 series. That is something those inverters are lacking.

We will be working on making a e-panel for the 6,000 Watt eg4 split phase inverter

I am not seeing a shunt. Is there provision for a shunt in case one want to install an aftermarket battery monitoring.

    • @aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497
      @aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Not directly no, I think the logic was the AIO doesnt use a shunt so to keep cost down they didnt add one

    WHAT'S YOUR OPINION ON THE
EG4 6K Off-Grid Split Phase Inverter (All In One Solar Inverter)
    (6000EX-48HV | 6000W Output | 7500W PV Input | 500V VOC Input | Split Phase 120/240VAC )
MY LIGHT BILL HAS BEEN ON AVERAGE FROM JUNE 2021-2022 WAS $510 AND WE JUST GOT THIS MONTHS AND IT IS $640..... I KNOW THAT OUR HOUSE, DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS, RUNS ABOUT 5-7 KWH PER MONTH AND UNDERSTAND THAT ILL PROBABLY NEED AT LEAST 4 INVERTERS.... HOWEVER, I'M NOT AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER AND THAT'S WHY I'M GREATFUL TO GENTS LIKE YOU THAT SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE.... I'M NOT TOTALLY GREEN WHEN IT COMES TO ELECTRICAL THOUGH, I DO OWN AN HVAC COMPANY & I'M FAMILIAR & COMFORTABLE RUNNING HIGH/LOW VOLTAGE..... ANY ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.....
I'M TRYING TO GET A SYSTEM THAT IS DEPENDABLE THAT I CAN INSTALL MYSELF....
    THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS BUD.

It's an ok inverter if you like difficulty setting parameters, 5 seconds to hit a button or it goes back to the home page. Then it's another 2-30 button presses to get back to where you were at. Do you like talking to an answering machine or customer service? You can also send emails and when that all fails, get Ben and Richard to put out the fires on DIY solar forum. I have Sol-Ark, EG46500ex and MNS products. MNS is right up there with SA on quality, tech support.

I myself like the DIY for the cost but it's hard to beat Schneider when it comes to dependability just cost a good bit more money but you do get 10-year warranty and the customer support is a lot better now

I havent played with one yet, if you are looking to lower the light bill you may want to dig into something grid tied or self consumption, As mentioned below Schneider makes a nice inverter for this
