This was very helpful. I have a 2007 SC430. I removed the radiator fan housing and the power steering pump pulley to provide clearance and access to the alternator. Then I could remove the alternator from under the hood. To remove the alternator it took 2 hrs figuring out everything. It took less then 1 hr to put it back in. Not a hard job once you figure out how to take apart the puzzle and put it back together.

    I have a SC 430 2002 with 179,000 miles and I’m having problems P1349, PO 420, and P1330! GREAT VIDEO!

tell me what problems you're having to date and I can resolve it. Presently my sc430 has 230,000 miles and my gx470 320,000.

I really appreciate this. So on the three mounting bolts - I got the first one in front off (nut) no problem. Got one of the two in back also. But the second one in back is seized on. Despite being perfectly square with breaker bar and 14mm 6 point impact socket - no joy. Used impact and its so seized the bolt is fully routed off. Going to use heat and Irwin bolt extractors in a couple of days after I get my sanity back... BUT my question is.... how do I find a new bolt to replace old one once I get this off? Any help from anyone is greatly appreciated.

Man this is me right now. One fuckin bolt.

@@ajharmon864 I succeeded. But took a long time. It turns out I needed a 13mm Irwin extractor and that they sell a second set of them so the one you normally see has a sister set to fill in the gaps. That 13mm version did the trick. Hope that helps.

Mine is leaking from the lines I think. Could it really be the pump that is bad or they are both bad? Car is 2002 with 207k miles

My LS430 is leaking steering fluid. Don't have a lift but, I will get her up high enough with jackstands. Thanks for sharing 👍👑

You forgot to show where the other 2 bolts are…

Great video....constructive crit....the long 'stud' is not a 'bolt'...and you use a 'nut' to secure it . And I believe you need 2 'bolts' for the other 2 mounting holes. You didn't show them.
you did make me realize I need my forklift and extra large floor jacks to pull this off...for a friends Lexus...keep filming! thank you it helped. Cheers!

I disagree. The oil pan on my 2003 GS 430 is impossible to replace at home. Even my Mechanic said you have to literally tilt the engine up to make room to remove those bolts on the front. It’s not easy at all. He doesn’t recommend replacing it if it’s just a small leak.

I was able to drop the oil pan and put a gasket of silicon on the SC430. Relatively easy however the dealer wanted close to 800.00
