    After seeing this explanation I realize that it is a buttload of work. You brought up the idea of cutting the wires. Actually that’s the approach I’m taking and snipping near the sensors under the body. That should eliminate the ridiculously time consuming seats and carpeting labor!

    Thanks for this. I started pulling up the carpet and could feel what I thought must be it, but I am not going to be able to cut it, I will have to carefully remove it.

    These cars are some of the worst I have ever encountered. Knock sensors and starter, under the intake manifold. O2 sensors, no connection from under the car instead they are in the center console. Will absolutely never own another Lexus. No amount of luxury or performance makes up for the horrid engineering that went into these vehicles.

    I really appreciate this. So on the three mounting bolts - I got the first one in front off (nut) no problem. Got one of the two in back also. But the second one in back is seized on. Despite being perfectly square with breaker bar and 14mm 6 point impact socket - no joy. Used impact and its so seized the bolt is fully routed off. Going to use heat and Irwin bolt extractors in a couple of days after I get my sanity back... BUT my question is.... how do I find a new bolt to replace old one once I get this off? Any help from anyone is greatly appreciated.

    • @shawnwright240
      @shawnwright240 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ajharmon864 I succeeded. But took a long time. It turns out I needed a 13mm Irwin extractor and that they sell a second set of them so the one you normally see has a sister set to fill in the gaps. That 13mm version did the trick. Hope that helps.

Titles and order is confusing! it starts with you underneath the car. them goes to squeaky idler. not sure which you did first ... this one is titled: GOPRO139?? nothing about power steering pump, LOL! found by searching your name. Thanks again...all the best!

    Great video....constructive crit....the long 'stud' is not a 'bolt'...and you use a 'nut' to secure it . And I believe you need 2 'bolts' for the other 2 mounting holes. You didn't show them. you did make me realize I need my forklift and extra large floor jacks to pull this off...for a friends Lexus...keep filming! thank you it helped. Cheers!

    Hey John, Just bought a 2002 SC 430 that has a battery drain issue. I read this is common and I wont be using this every day, so I may need a battery charger but that seems like a PITA. Any suggestions?

    • @johnhopes7973
      @johnhopes7973 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about this being a problem and its my first time hearing of it. What you may have is a component draining the battery. Don't buy a cheap battery either. This car is one of the best cars made. I have 220k miles on the Sc430 and gx 470, 320,000

    • @AlinRoman1

  • @superfly19751

    I disagree. The oil pan on my 2003 GS 430 is impossible to replace at home. Even my Mechanic said you have to literally tilt the engine up to make room to remove those bolts on the front. It’s not easy at all. He doesn’t recommend replacing it if it’s just a small leak.

    • @johnhopes7973
      @johnhopes7973 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was able to drop the oil pan and put a gasket of silicon on the SC430. Relatively easy however the dealer wanted close to 800.00

    • @johnhopes7973
      @johnhopes7973 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably have the car by now. Things to change: front bearings, flush brake fluid immediately and replace with new one. Use transmission not ordinary brake fluid. see owners manual. inner and outer tie rods if you live in an area that is cold and have poor roads and pot holes. insure that your aluminum rims are not warped it will affect the stability. ofcourse change or flush tranny and filter fluid. Thas it any problems hit me up. Sorry for late response I'm really new to this.

      That part is for vacuum hoses that go out up on top of engine. I was troubleshooting the leak in mine, I think the leak is from that part. It looks hard to get to without taking out the pump.

    This was very helpful. I have a 2007 SC430. I removed the radiator fan housing and the power steering pump pulley to provide clearance and access to the alternator. Then I could remove the alternator from under the hood. To remove the alternator it took 2 hrs figuring out everything. It took less then 1 hr to put it back in. Not a hard job once you figure out how to take apart the puzzle and put it back together.
