  • Here I show you how to replace the VVT sensor on a 2002 LS430. This method will be similar to the following vehicles:
    Lexus GS430 2002-2007
    Lexus GX470 2003-2009
    Lexus LS400 1998-2000
    Lexus LS430 2002-2006
    Lexus LX470 2006-2007
    Lexus SC430 2002-2010
    Lexus SC400 1997-1998
    Toyota 4Runner 2004-2009
    Toyota Land Cruiser 2006-2007
    Toyota Sequia 2002-2009
    Toyota Tundra 2005-2009
    VVT sensors from Rockauto: www.rockauto.com/?carcode=138...
    I bought the Beck Arnley part #'s 024027 (Left) and 0242064 (Right). They were the most expensive. If I had to do it again, the slightly cheaper Gates should work just fine. Some factory equipment on Lexus is made by Gates. Part #'s VVS124 (Left) and VVS125 (Right).
    I DO NOT recommend buying any parts from Amazon. In my experience, they are hit or miss with being quality parts and are sometimes flat out fakes. Rockauto is an authorized dealer just like Napa or Autozone and sometimes carry dealer parts. Warranty replacements are also seamless and easy with them. Been using them for 13 years.

    That was good camera work and excellent explanations. Thus was the second video i watched on this VVT replacement in an LS430 and this was the best 👍🏻
    Next time show the part numbers & where you bought the parts and price would be extremely helpful

      I wouldn't touch it unless the lights come on. It doesn't immediately affect the way the car drives, but I wouldn't keep driving with it like that. Might cause a serious problem later down the line.

    Is there any specific website to get parts for the Lexus LS 430, parts are become extremely hard to find!!

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First step is to go to mylparts.com. All genuine Toyota/Lexus parts. From there, certain things you can get from rockauto.com. Some parts have to be genuine parts, others don't. Sensors and whatnot you should always go for the best/genuine when you can. They generally last the longest.

    Hey what about the vvt filters? I am wanting to check the filter but I can’t figure out where the hell it is lol I’m scared to mess with the wrong bolt!

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So this is my first time hearing about those! I went and looked it up and this is something I should probably change! It's easy enough to get to and they're cheap! I have no idea how it effects the car performance-wise but they're like $3 on rockauto.
      Anyway, if you go to 4:20 of the video. You see where I'm trying to wiggle the sensor out? There is a bolt to the left of it. It should be like a 14mm bolt. You unscrew that and get some needle nose pliers and the filter is in there. It should be a hole in the bolt once you take it out and the tip of the filter sits in that. Hope this helps and thanks for that tip!

      th-cam.com/video/YXXahRWalU0/w-d-xo.html That video might help you, but I think you may have damaged or unplugged something after changing the spark plugs and didn't plug it back up. Likely the camshaft oil control valve. Sounds like something very small, but may be tedious to find. If everything is all plugged up, were the spark plugs gapped correctly? Hope this helps!

      @@joem5009 They shouldn't charge you more than an hour. The video I made was pretty much unedited. I only stopped the camera when I was struggling to get the driver's side around the wire harness. But the whole thing took me less than an hour. Most good mechanics will look in their manual though and give you a price according to how long the manual says it will take. But it's definitely something you could wait in the lobby to get done.
