    There is much depth that goes into this song. The mixture of an orchestra and rock tell the story of the song. Plus, who cannot appreciate Slash's 2 guitar solos on this song; he's simply incredible? I enjoyed this rock ballad, because again, it was diverse, telling a happy and sad story all in one, along with fast and slow paced music to create the mood. Incredible!

  • @dustinjones8887
    @dustinjones8887 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Mia, we love watching you get introduced to these iconic classics, just make sure not to stop during a solo. In hard rock/metal, even slow songs, guitar solos are highly prized and given acclaim as much as the song in general. You want to hear the solo in full and how it flows into the next section. If you do need to cut off shortly after a solo starts, that's okay, just rewind it some when you start again.

    • @nathanlandry1016
      @nathanlandry1016 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The unspoken rule of ALL music reactions. No interruptions during guitar solos. I personally don’t mind as long as you eventually listen to the whole thing in it’s entirety for the context of how it fits into a particular song. I always love watching people react to the coda (coda is a piece of music that is different than the rest of the song but is used to end the composition)

    • @dustinjones8887
      @dustinjones8887 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@nathanlandry1016 - right! I just want the whole solo listened to without break. So if they stopped after 10 sec of the solo. that's okay.... IF.... they go back before the solo to start again. I think Mia missed out a bit on the flow of this first solo. But when the 2nd solo hit, she heard it all the way through uninterrupted, and we heard a "wow" from her. Those are the special moments I want to see from a reactor on a great solo.

    • @dustinjones8887
      @dustinjones8887 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nathanlandry1016 - Yeah, this coda gets big praise by reactors. Some love how it amps up, which is great, but for me it's the morbid sound of the guitar lead riff and the singing chant that really hits hard on the emotions. I think reactors may not realize the morbidity of it consciously, but they can feel it. ---Speaking of codas, you really don't hear much of them anymore. I mean new metal has movement segments, but those aren't classic codas. GNR had several: Patience, November Rain, Sweet Child for starters. The Beatles had lots. I think Ben Kweller is the only one I know of in the past 25 years with "In Other Words", tho not a great coda, but excellent song.

    For faster Guns N Roses songs to react to:
    Welcome to the jungle
    It’s so easy
    Night train
    You could be mine
    Thing is, most rock bands have slow songs, but they’re generally few compared to the fast songs. The slow songs typically got more views because they were hits amongst a wider segment of the mainstream (girls liked more of the slow songs from these bands).
    It’s like the first Alice In Chains song you reacted to was a slow song, Down in a hole, but most of their stuff is heavier.

    Metallica has an album performing their greatest hits with the full San Francisco Symphony performing then. That album is a perfect integration of a full on symphony adding a great new sound to all the familiar Metallica songs but Metallica maintains the heavy base of the songs. I think you would love that one. It's exactly what you were looking for in this one. I like this song and video. It's not my favorite Guns stuff but it shows how versatile they are. Whether people like it or don't it's impossible to miss what an epic song and video they put together here. Not many videos out there with two billion views and this deserves it. I think a lot of people discovered the band from this song because it appealed to a wide variety of folks who probably never heard anybody their other songs. But back then, the vibe from the hardcore Guns N Roses fans wasn't all that positive. They did a gigantic world tour right after this and fans who has already seen them live giving them kickass rock shows arrived to see a huge stage with a piano and backup singers. It wAnt the vibe that a lot of fans wanted. I went to the concert when the tour came to California and it was the best live concert I've ever been to. They were flawless and it was well received by the fans here. Apparently none of the other band members wanted to tour with the pianos, flutes, backup singers etc (both because it took away from their down and dirty rock band aura and it made for a very bloated world tour that had more overhead and last profit). Axl was the only one who wanted all of that production. Axl had a way of often being at odds with the rest of the band and Axl always got his way on all issues. The rest of the band were laid back rocker dudes enjoying their massive success who just wanted to play and party. They really weren't with any drama or arguing. Axl on the other hand was a very volatile guy, and with the big success he fit the term prinadona like a glove. Talented guy though, probably my favorite lead singer of anyone. Just not an easy guy to work with.

    Yes, this Guns N' Roses in 1991 was definitely a change from the band from 1987... they had gone from a 5-piece hard rock band into a 6-piece (plus live musicians) arena rock act... and there were ballads, country songs and rockers on the 2 'Use your illusion' albums by Guns N' Roses.
    W. Axl Rose (vocals) demanded $1.5 Million to make this extravagant video in 1992 for 'November rain'... a song that was inspired by grand piano ballads by Elton John... It was Part 2 of a music video trilogy that started w/ the Guns N' Roses ballad "Don't cry"... both videos featured Axl Rose's then-GF supermodel Stephanie Seymour... (Axl's character dies in Part 1... Stephanie's character dies in Part 2, depicting November rain that falls on their wedding day... and 1 year later at her funeral)
    Part 3 was the music video 'Estranged'... filmed without Stephanie Seymour in '93 (She and Axl Rose broke up) where Axl's character is depicted struggling w/ life after loss...
    If want more rockin' tunes by Guns N' Roses, I suggest the songs - 'Rocket queen' ... 'Live and let die' (Paul McCartney cover)... 'My Michelle' ... 'Locomotive'...

    Yeah, you called it. It was part of their growth and trying to expand horizons as a band. The 1st two songs you reacted to were off their debut album, Appetite for Destruction, which was pure hard rock (and the greatest debut album of all time, imo). This was off their 3rd album, Use Your Illusion (I and II, double album). A lot of good songs on those albums, but a decent amount of average as well. Unfortunately, there was no more growth after this, as they broke up soon after these albums were released. But they have been back together since 2016, and still touring successfully.

    I feel I need to tell this to all GenZ reactors: many of you seem to tend to do something that never crossed our minds when all these songs came out in the '80s and '90s: label and categorize them. It's understandable given how compartmentalized, simplified, and standardized today's music scene is, We weren't surprised that Metallica or GnR released slower ballads or that the Beastie Boys used electric guitars.
    It seems that art direction, lighting, cinematography, and editing talent no longer exists in modern music videos. I feel so sorry for GenZ.

    Ballads/Power-Ballads are a time-honoured tradition for rock and metal. Axl was deeply inspired aand loved performing with Elton John so it is easy to see some of the inspiration seeping into GnR's later work. If you havent yet you GOT to check out Meatloafs' Bat out of Hell and a song he did with Cher called Dead Ringer for Love.

    Orchestra music and rock music can mesh together really well if done right. Metallica did it on "No Leaf Clover". I think that's the one. I'm sure there are several more. Alter Bridge did a whole concert at the Royal Albert Hall with an orchestra. Sounded amazing. This was the second song in a 3 song trilogy. "Don't Cry" and "Estranged" were the first and last ones.

    Awe Mia, I almost missed the part where you said “This is November 1st” lol. I had to re-check the date on my phone, to make sure it still was Nov 16th!! So many Negative comments. And yet you liked everyone. I loved this reaction!! Remember , YOUR JOURNEY!! There is nothing better, in this world, than smiling at those who frown!! See it’s not just your smile that’s big, your Heart is too!!🌹🌹🌹

    Sure great songs have 2B views but its not always the case. Many great songs have less. Others to try.
    Rush - Tom Sawyer
    Triumph - Lay it On the Line
    Black Sabbath - Loner
    Judas Priest - Painkiller (great for your squats)
    You never answered about ACDC. However, I think Overdose is outstanding.

    One of the great things about these bands form that time period was the range and depth of their music. It wasn't the same song every track and I know. Patience and Don't cry are my fav GnR songs and they're not head bangers at all. Love you take on it though.

    This has to be my favourite GnR song. It’s a Ballad, That’s why it’s got that slow dance vibe. Hence the drums being slow and not to crazy. But that outro has to be the best i’v heard.

    You need something with more drums. Try Queen - Radio Gaga and go for the Live Aid version. It has to be the 4 minutes 50 seconds version, not the shorter one, or you'll miss a special moment with your spirit animal Freddie Mercury at the end of the performance. You won't regret it
