It is strange that a single woman is asked why she got involved with a married man but the married man is absolved of his responsibility and commitment towards his wife and children.

I think it's because we expect women to Be an automatic sisterhood. That we should be empathetic to other woman and the whole thing about "once a cheater always a cheater" which I think is not fair.maybe the one he cheated with is the one.and the whole nonsense about stealing husband..he's not an object or innocent little boy.He made his vows,he's in the marriage. But men don't get accused of stealing another man wife.

People keep commenting on how she's smiling but to me it's so clear that it's out of nervousness. It's so obvious that she's trying to keep it together through increasingly sexist and judgemental questions. She's not making light of the situation, she's trying to get across to people that she's human. And I honestly think it's remarkable how she was able to get through this with grace and humility. I made so many mistakes (not with married men, ok) but I was totally out of my mind thinking I was unstoppable. If we were all penalized for our errors the way she was, we would never have a chance. @@andriylashchyk8007 what do u think about impeachment ? Have u seen it ? I'm always wary when the producer is making a show about themself. It's so hard for anyone to be totally objective. Monica is pretty honest so I think it's ok. I mean it's good to get the actual persons perspective. Like straight out of compton was produced by ice cube & dr dre so I felt they came out looking really good bc they are telling the story so of course. It's like that saying " history is written by the winner " I've only watched hi lights of the movie so I dont know if dr dre included his penchant for hitting women or I'm sure that embarrassing photo of him looking like some disco guy not the " hard rapper image " is not included. Back to monica I saw the thong scene & I was surprised how innocuous it was. In my mind it was much worse than depicted so I hope that's how it really was. I give sarah paulson so much credit. Everyone seems to unanimously hate linda tripp but she said she had to find empathy for the woman she was playing to make it work. Theirs nothing worse than if an actor hates the person they are portraying. Like sarah found out that linda was actually a very funny person & could be a lot of fun. I also saw a interview w/ her from many years ago & her young adult kids were in part of it & these kids not only were beautiful looking but they seemed very nice & adored their mom & were saying how they hated how she was made fun of on snl & leno. So it sounds like linda was a very good mom so in my book anyone who raises their kids right & if the kids love them so much they cant be all bad. Linda to me seems like her own worst enemy. Her initial agenda was to write a book about this & was friends with a very big publisher who published for some of the players in the oj case. So her motivation was a book & money but something else took over bc she then went to Paula Jones lawyer & then ken starr who knew nothing about the dress. Doing this blew her book deal . I can only gether it was bc now she made herself a witness & the judge placed gag orders on all witnesses. I dont get her motives in changing gears & calling people who wanted to get Clinton. She made no money off the case & got into debt of a million dollars to her attorneys. She did that to herself bc Jones lawyer & ken starr never even knew about monica.

It was a consensual affair between consenting adults. He had a history of rampant extramarital affairs. It was nobodies business but theirs (and his wife). It seems cruel and punishing what happened to Monica and her family. The Prez continued on his way. A total double standard for the men and the women. @@gailwebb9619 the professor she “had an affair with” was a teacher at her high school who groomed her & started a relationship with her while she was a teenager. It was her first relationship ever & he didn’t tell her he was in a relationship until they were already fully in a relationship, she was in love with and he got engaged to his wife. He continued to pursue her and manipulate her - he talked her into moving to Portland to go to college after he moved there with his wife. Their relationship and how that played out and his impact on her at such a young and formative time probably has a huge part to play in her relationship with Clinton & willingness to take the scraps he gave her. She was 22, had only had one previous relationship, one that was totally fucked up. Clinton was also her boss, twice her age, & the most powerful man in the world & a married man. The power imbalance in that relationship absolutely plays into the situation and he absolutely had the responsibility to not take advantage of the situation.

She obviously was in over her head, didn't think it through and like all women her age, infatuated, it is hard not to talk about it. And then being ghosted, betrayed and thrown at the wolves. If he made a move on me I likely would have complied. At 22 you're hardly an adult and you're super sexual, reveling in your adulthood. He had more to lose but still went after her, multiple times and he had an emotional affair with her buying her books. She was 22 at the time, life experiences at 22 and 32 are very different. He had the most powerful position in the country. Many women who do refuse will often end up harassed and fired. I think Monica's childhood is a good reason as to why she ended up in this position. OK just finished watching this interview. Barbara Walters was unprofessional and cruel. At one point she called her a “Big Mouth”. Why? …because Monica told her close friends about the relationship. That is something every girl does especially at 22 and 23 years old.
The second thing she said regarding the blue dress “what many people say is, that’s disgusting! Why didn’t you clean the dress?”. Completely unnecessary.
Monica Lewinsky was tortured by the media, Politicians, TV talk show hosts, late night shows, SNL tore her apart. Made fun of her weight, her clothes etc etc..

This is such a long time ago- and, now, for the first time I have empathy and sympathy for this girl ! She was just a 22 yr old kid - what happened to her was awful - Mr. Clinton should have been throttled and no matter how Linda Tripp has been rehabilitated- she deserved all the heat she got. She even still seems like a kid in this interview.

Ppl are are always going to trash a mistress and defend the man. She should have just gone off and kept her sex life to herself. I think the interview made it worse for her….back then.

Oh Monica :( Never ever cooperate with law enforcement! Especially to the level that she did giving unnecessary detail. Yes she likely would’ve had to spend 18 months in jail for contempt of court like Susan McDougal, but that would’ve been better than what she went through.
Also the comment Barbara made about no one wanting to marry Monica is so hurtful. Especially considering how badly she wanted to get married and still hasn’t as of now.
