- Hillary Clinton appeared on the Today Show on January 27, 1998, just days after the Lewinsky affair news broke, and was interviewed by none other than Matt Lauer. A little something for everyone to be angry about here. This was the morning after the President said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman," and also just hours before the President's State of the Union speech that evening. Hillary uses the phrase "vast right-wing conspiracy" in this interview. Now that we know what Lauer was up to, it's even harder to watch this footage.
The only person coming out of all this looking good today is Monica Lewinsky herself, who is a charming and intelligent professional with a great sense of humor, working as an anti-bullying activist and fashion designer as of 2019. Luminance levels were corrected, and video was sharpened a bit. Upconverted to 1080p60 to preserve some image quality and motion. But it's still VHS.

Well it depends on how he defined "sexual relations." If they did not have intercourse, then they did not have sexual relations. Oh, I know, you'll say if he had his penis in her mouth, finished in her mouth and on her dress, French kissed her, touched and stimulated her genitalia, kissed her bare breasts, and inserted a cigar into her vagina, removed it, put it in his mouth and said "It tastes good," that you'll say that is sexual. But, the president was accurate in his statement. While some may perceive that as sexual, it was not "sexual relations." Hahaha! He really outsmarted everyone, didn't he?

She was obviously in denial at that point. It's not uncommon for women who are cheated on by their husbands. Sometimes people find it easier to believe reassuring lies rather than face the ugly truth. Anyhow, adultery may be a sin, it's not a crime. She's right to say that the prosecution against Bill Clinton was politically motivated, i mean in all seriousness, i don't think the prosecutor cared one bit about protecting the rights of an insignificant intern; from the very beginning, he thought he could bring down the president using his weaknesses against him. It's crazy to think there are people who, literally, spent millions of dollars of tax payers' money to try to bring down Clinton over a trivial matter, for their own political purposes and when they failed they were able to go on with their lives untroubled. Millions of dollars gone in the wind! Who said that tax payer's money should be spent in a wise and judicious way ? It's funny how the press and the media were not at all interested in this subject and not once raised the issue. It was much more sensational to report on the juicy sexual details and Clinton's sperm on Monica Lewinsky's dress, i guess.

For a while, I was wondering if they were going to reenacted this interview for ACS: Impeachment. They finally did in tonight's episode.
I like Edie but she didn’t really embody Hillary, wasn’t the best portrayal. Hillary has a softer charm when she does interviews, Edie was a little too harsh in her tone when she portrayed her even in the interview scenes like this one.
Imagine if she left him? Then met with these women, defended them, started some cheating, preying on interns, men in power going after the young girls at work is wrong campaign. We'd all feel bad for her, would've totally changed her image. She chose a old school path, when a new way was coming. I can't stand her, because she made her choice. But i think if she left his ass, she would've gained far more

Sadly, at that time I don't think it was an oppurtunity for her. (Imagine in the 90s a a first lady leaving the President of the United States-I don't even think it would be happen nowadays) I kind of feel sorry for her although she made a lot of mistakes but remember she has been in the public eye for like 30 years of course lot of people have had enough of her. I guess she is also a lot more conservative than people think. I can absolutely understand that her decision pisses of a lot of people but I never understood why Americans are so obsessed with Bill and Hillary's personal life. And the irony is, that many of these people say they love Bill and would vote for him again while he is the one who cheated. Why blame her then? I feel the same way about Melania-she shouldn't be asked about his husbands affairs. I always thought even she is responsible for her decisions she is the victim of her times-Hillary could have have way more oppurtunities if she borns just 20 or 30 years later. I don’t apply a double standard to Bill over Hillary as I wouldn’t vote for any Clinton again. I think Bill Clinton is just as bad if not worse than his wife. They are both proven liars. I don’t know how old you are but some of us have been around long enough to remember things when they happened as they happened : the campaign, the election and the aftermath and do not wish to ne played by those two and their empty promisses again.
Biden , Gore, Bush and other former POTUS or candidates have been in politics forever and they don’t carry the same liabilities. The Clintons were elected on a platform of a socially progressive and economically liberal programme and all they managed to do is empty America out of the remaining industry it had, increased poverty and economic vulnerability and consolidate the financial sector to the point that made 2008 possible. Plus half of their close friends and associates (including their in laws) are convinced embezzlers at best, criminals on average. Hope this helps you understand why people are still upset and troubled about her attitude in the Lewinsky affair.

It's known to the public now that Hillary and Bill didn't have a regular, monogamous marriage anyway, but of course they had to present themselves that way to the public. I will give her credit, she is really good at dodging answering questions directly by talking in circles or segueing into other topics instead. She is well spoken, her rehearsed lines and scripted comebacks flow out rather smoothly and eloquently. She really is the perfect politician.
