I remember this happened when I was in college. I used to think Monica was such a joke; however, seeing her here, I have respect for her as I’ve grown up and so has she.

I didn't know she was 22. I remember when I was 22 and I was a train wreck...not making excuses for what she did but I remember being that age...very desperate insecure and naive.

Many women don't have the maturity necessary at that age to completely understand the magnitude of the wrong doing and its consequences. All you crave is attention, affection, love. For what she's been through, holy cow. All the people that have judged her act as if they've never done something human in their lives - really, she was young, which was taken advantage of by different people. Really a show of strength on her part to process all of that and come out the other side with grace.

Lots of women get involved with their boss. Its actually quite natural for women to be attracted to someone of a higher status than themselves. That's why so many bosses, for years, have always had side relationships with younger women who work under them., Its easy for them since they are attracted to the power of an older man who is in a position of power over them. It really comes down to evolutionary psychology.

I think she did consider suicide. She asked the lawyers what would happen to the case if she died. But seeing a therapist through the ordeal helped those thoughts remain only thoughts

I don't understand some of the comments that give the impression that she was a total victim and that she had no responsibility in the case. It is true that in this story, this woman was a victim of the media and absolutely did not deserve to be not only betrayed like this but also harassed. However, apart from her harassment, people should not act as if she was totally innocent by making her less responsible. She clearly said their relationship was consensual and that she wore revealing clothes to get his attention. She was young, but not a baby or unconscious. I wouldn't say Monica is completely void of responsibility during this case but you have to take in account the major power imbalance in this situation. Especially how complicated it is: an unpaid intern and her boss who is the literal president of the US. Even though she was in her early twenties she was still young, and yes, she should've refused and known better, but she was a young woman being manipulated by an extremely powerful, older man in his fifties (most likely aware of his power). There is still a major power imbalance here and considering their age gap as well, you can't blame her entirely for all that happened. I wouldn't say she had no responsibility, but she was a victim. Although the situations are different, it's almost the same as a student having a relationship with a teacher. It could be consensual but there's still a big power imbalance there with the teacher being older with more power and the student being younger with less agency and power in the relationship. You can recognise that the younger, more impressionable persons choices in a relationship like this could be wrong while also recognising that they are not at complete fault for it. Clinton took advantage of her and abused his power while doing so. He is much more to blame than her.

I wouldn't say Monica is completely void of responsibility during this case but you have to take in account the major power imbalance in this situation. Especially how complicated it is: an unpaid intern and her boss who is the literal president of the US. Even though she was in her early twenties she was still young, and yes, she should've refused and known better, but she was a young woman being manipulated by an extremely powerful, older man in his fifties (most likely aware of his power). There is still a major power imbalance here and considering their age gap as well, you can't blame her entirely for all that happened. I wouldn't say she had no responsibility, but she was a victim. Although the situations are different, it's almost the same as a student having a relationship with a teacher. It could be consensual but there's still a big power imbalance there with the teacher being older with more power and the student being younger with less agency and power in the relationship. You can recognise that the younger, more impressionable persons choices in a relationship like this could be wrong while also recognising that they are not at complete fault for it. Clinton took advantage of her and abused his power while doing so. He is much more to blame than her.
