Starfield - MAY UPDATE - Decorate your Ship, Clutter your Cutter, Trash your Transport

  • Are you good enough to make the cover of "Better Ships and Gardens?"
    I'm not. You can't just throw a rug down in the middle of the bridge and call it a day. You need style. Clutter your Cruiser. Decorate your Dreadnaught. Accessorize your Argosy!
    I originally put 10 sinks on the bridge, but settled on a rec-room for my crew.
    I also added Self-Service Bounty kiosk for my little "targeting accidents." HUGE HELP!
    Eventually I noticed I didn't have any knickknacks for decorating. I returned to the Vulture's Roost and dropped in on Vlad's House in Syrma. Ecliptic mercenaries steal the best knickknacks. They won't be needing them after I visit anyway.
    In the MAY UPDATE we can now decorate any of our ships with many of the same items as an Outpost. Unfortunately that does NOT include security robots, but you can fill your galley with toilets and your bridge with potted plants. Trap your crew behind a wall of ferns.

    It would be cool if we could place a mission board, but I also get that if I had that I might not need outposts. I like the crafting stations because I currently run a workshop and a science lab on the off chance I want to chem it up.

      I haven't done a lot of straight 'mission board' work. I noticed I couldn't build one on the ship, but sort of skipped over it.
      I thought found them on planets and they've given me a decent (?) purpose for visiting Civilian Outposts more often.
      Even getting the familiar 'deliver people to a safe outpost' mission hits a little different if I pick it up on a planet randomly. Maybe I'm getting the same missions, but without the kiosk?
      To your point, that does make the ones on outposts less important (and I have them there too).

    Man the fact they got rid of the spawning ship clutter is lame, I can’t be bothered to go into decorator mode and place objects around when all they do is sink through the surfaces

    • @kineer
      @kineer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I see some of them sink once, but if I pick them up again (once) they stay after that. Definitely an odd problem, but it hasn't kept me from successfully decorating a ship. I won't put down 100+ items though. Just too much effort for me.

    Too bad we still can’t put doors where we want them

      If there are door options, I couldn't find them. I looked!

    My workbenches never work. They always have an obstruction error, even when there are no obstructions. All the old fixes for this bug no longer work. No save/load, equip weapon, or exit/reload fixes work.

      I used to quicksave/restore to make them work. Thought it was fixed until recently and it happened near some furniture.

    What happens when you select a different ship as home ship then go back. Do the changes stay?

    • @kineer
      @kineer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Swapping back and forth between two ships and everything stays put. I built a small storage box next to the pilot's seat and put a random item it. Persistence is working fine.

    Even a rotation speed of 1.0 is too fast. I know you can set it lower with console commands and there is even a mod on nexusmod that sets it to 0.25, but I hope Bethesda allows setting lower values ingame before with the final patch.

    • @kineer
      @kineer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't bother to go back and double check the previous rotation settings, but I really thought you could slow it down. A 1.0 floor seems odd.

      I’m sure it is just an ini file value. I will have to look into it

    • @crazy-tommy
      @crazy-tommy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@willrun4fun It is a ini file setting, to be specific it is "fItemRotationSpeedMin:Workshop" and I have no issue changing it. But this will not help Xbox players, so I hope they change the setting for the base game with the patch so every player can place items more accurately.

    But did they fix stuff falling through surfaces that you place them on?

    • @kineer

      No. Things still sink. Confirmed. Again. /sigh :)

    Interesting , Thank You . Sadly ever more to loose if you do unity. On the other hand unity lets us restart with out being 1st level

      @kineer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I plan on waiting until after this update is released for everyone before I jump through the Unity again. Then I'll stay in NG+6 while they work on the next patch and repeat. If I time it right, the DLC will arrive around the same time I hit NG+10.

      Aye, I wish we could save our current designs as Blueprints we can carry over so it would be easier to see what our ships looked like before.

    Would be nice if we could actually USE our ships. Apart from a little bit of space combat, they're useless.

      I am curious. What would you like to do with your ship? Something another game lets you do?
      In my NG+ series, I basically capture a Claymore III, re-fit it for my purposes and run the rest of the NG+ game with that as my mobile base. I do all my crafting on it, increase storage to 8,000kg. I rarely set foot in the Lodge (I'm also playing an Alternate Universe).
      The exception for a long time was a single outpost I built because I was tired of selling contraband immediately (and couldn't resist picking it up).
