This is the stuff that makes this a good movie, even in the face of all the ridiculously bad science. It has tremendous soul. As accurate science fiction goes, it's one of the worst. As ragtag team stories go, it is one of, if not the best.
i was actually listening to this video before i boarded a plane to Mexico to take care my sick mother in late march; before she sadly passed away back in late may (2 months, 12 hours later) rest easy mom we’ll take cars of the business
My dad and his soldiers would sing this song every time they left for deployment. It was always very sad and we cried every time, but every time they came back, we'd sing it again as our reunion song. It's been 16 years since the last time we had to sing it; now I and my father get to sing it to my very first niece or nephew come February!
From bouncing dorks outside the Roxbury to saving earth from massive rocks... You'll always be our hero Michael Clarke Duncan. You've brought joy to our lives through your acting. We can only hope everyone up stairs appreciates you as much as we have down here. R.I.P. Michael Clarke Duncan.
Seeing Mike makes me so sad. He was an awesome person. Papa Bear... we all miss you. I hope those stars are as bright as you were. Rest in piece, my friend.
He was a firefighter in NYC before he got into acting and after 9/11 happened he went back to his old station and helped search for people in the debris. Dentists have offered to do his teeth before but he declined the offers cause he knew if he got them fixed he wouldn’t get the scripts to movies he’s been in and will continue to get.
Even if the world's coming to an end you gotta savor the last few moments. Might as well make some final good memories. And RIP Michael Clarke Duncan aka Bear. We miss you and we love you!
I started singing this whilst doing my carers round for an old lady & I can mimic pretty well & I did all the voices etc: & she burst into tears saying thank you for singing this exactly 💯 like this as her old husband did exactly what I did & I'll never forget this moment purely connection through this movies song ❤
Its hard verry hard too see when your daddy leaving you and you cant let go becouse you wanted both of them too come and give them big welcoming kiss ,is sad too see her cry but daddy is a hero and look ,you cant stil kis you boyfriend a welcome kis but on hes mouth thats why i love this movie and song i really do it means i lot too me this a amazing and it amazed me
I LOVE THIS SCENE!! This is probably the funniest one in the movie... And the missed out scene with Billy Bob Thorton that follows it... "So Trueman... This is who you found to save the planet!?!" At least they're in high spirits....
I adore this scene cause this is the exact same thing me and my friends would do if we were leaving for a mission to space... to lighten the mood if nothing else. We sing together in most occasions in life.
omg -- I just heard! RIP+ Michael Clarke Duncan I just enjoyed rewatching ARMAGGEDON on Sat. for the umpteenth time... you as "BEAR" with your baritone singing "Leaving on a jet plane. My bags are packed, I'm ready to go"... and of course you in "The Green Mile" an amazing GENTLE GIANT, a talented actor has died, following his heart attack in mid July. (I just found out, he was only 9 days older than me, way way too young to die). Thank you for this video -Armageddon Leaving on a jet plane
I had to watch this scene after watching SuperStar with Molly Shannon and Will Farrell 😆 so funny. Couldn’t help but notice Liv Taylor has, like, the most perfect nose profile. What a beauty she is.
R.I.P Ducan, you have left on a jetplane to never come back again, but did not leave the hearts of millions of Americans which watched your roles in the films which marked history.
I just loooove this scene and the whole movie for that matter. Not a big fan of Ben Affleck but in this movie, those actors are damn good! I just love Bruce willis and Michael Duncan, who will be missed. I just wonder if I will ever able to NOT cry at the end of the movie ..
If I had a scene where Liv Tyler jumped into my arms, I would intentionally screw it up about 1000 time so we could do it over and over and over and over again.
I think I am slap happy tonight - the other version got me thinking about this one from Armageddon. Guess I am having an "Armageddon of the Brain" tonight. :-D
This scene may be cheesy, but it's such a really human moment.
This is the stuff that makes this a good movie, even in the face of all the ridiculously bad science. It has tremendous soul.

whole movie is cheesy, but I loved it as a kid lol
Brings a tear to my eye!!😢
It's sad Michael Clarke Duncan is not here to watch his movies or perform this scene 😭😭

Seeing Mike makes me so sad. He was an awesome person.

My theory, they just couldn't leave the song to be ruined by Ben affleck. What a save.
right...because he was taking a hacksaw to it.
