    remember herman, he was pretty cool? the indian foreman or superintendent for aci, a tall guy. i pulled a clearance on a 51 the day after 18 or so got dirty test, something with the cut-off point of nanograms in the system was off. one dude files a greivance and he was a smoker too, and after 4 months of 5 or 6 10's or 12's he got all of his back pay. i can't remember how much fuel a day the 51s were drinking something like 250 gals a day. you could tell he liked the day the fuel truck would show up, he'd have most of the spread slow to a crawl, like as if to salute the amount of fuel he was going through. he' was one of the coolest formans i've ever known.

    Don't get it. With the water situation out west why do more houses keep being built

    • @ZackaryMusgrove
      @ZackaryMusgrove 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a housing shortage because more people move there.

  • @TurboGSR96
    @TurboGSR96 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It amazes me the amount of material you move out west just to build simple things like neighborhoods, home prices must be through the roof to justify that kind of cost per lot.

    • @Bowiiihowdy
      @Bowiiihowdy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      TurboGSR96 probably not to much the sheer quantity of houses would make up the cost

    Do they do something for compacting the fill and prevent future subsidence?

    • @YensR
      @YensR 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your reply :)
      I think that might be possible, but I also think you need lime, lime mixers and a bit of water (sometimes all of that is integrated into some cold mixers like the Wirtgen machines) and I only see a water sprayer in the video - but I'm no expert either. It just seems like quite loose aggregate the way it is in the video.

    • @YensR
      @YensR 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Thank you! It might be that the dozers and scrapers running over the slightly watered ground is enough. So, as you say, the machines do the compaction.

    • @animenut69
      @animenut69 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seen track loaders working lime and it looks like they've been through a snow storm lol. Must be hell for the engine air filters

    cool and loud but not very fuel effective hehe they move way more dirt in say netherland using a relative little self propelld rotary digger that use a conveyerbelt to fill big dump trucks.
    ore smaller standard dump trucks if they want to haul the dirt on a normal road some distance in ordinery traffic

    • @buckwheat7424

      Bucketwheel excavation is for mining and quarrying, I think you are confused about what these guys are doing and why.
      Scrapers are moving muck from cut to fill and are completely mobile meaning that as they cut to level and fill to level they move on to the next phase, something a bucket wheel cannot do, the scraper cuts it rough and in bulk to determined level and then the developers move in to set out the roads and sewers, likely more will be trimmed off to finished level at the foundation stage.
      Now off to see what you upload, I think you have 0 experience of real earthmoving, in which case STFU, watch and learn from these guys.

    • @garysmedley6263

      +ian milgate With 8 million cubic yards of dirt to move it will take some time (days or weeks)before they hit the planned final grade. Usually that amounts to 'cutting down the mountain and filling in the valley' so to speak. It might look unorganized however I can assure you that each scraper operator has a fairly good understanding of where the 'cut' is and where the 'fill' is and all the other pieces of equipment like the 'push cats', water-pulls, and equipment in the 'fill' are all there to support the scrapers. It is all very well organized and meant to move as much dirt as possible at the least cost.
