Seeing those 657’s takes me back to my youth, scrapers are a young man’s gig, you gotta be a cowboy with a good back! 🤟🤣 It was really cool watching those blasts, I’ve never seen that done outside of a quarry. 💪💪🙏🙌👍🤙🤟🤙

Right on brother, yeah Im Local 300 here in L.A.-San Fernando Valley. This vid was with my last Co. now im doing concrete cutting, coring, breaking. Messing with Asphalt is hard work. Thanks for watching
I have seen hundreds of these Cat 657 machines. Those scrapers, which scrape dirt and fill up and then haul dirt off and dump it out. Those machines are expensive and have two huge diesel engines. Huge twin diesel machines that are basically serving as dump trucks. You can buy about 5 big dump trucks for the price of just one of those. A track loader and 5 dump trucks would dig and move more dirt at much lower cost. They serve mostly as dirt haulers at 2 or 3 million a piece with 2 engines. It's the most expensive way to haul dirt using those things instead of a 30 ton dump. A track loader can serve as a dozer and as a loader. Those 657 scrape off like 3 inches of dirt over a long run and then drive for miles and miles to unload. A track loader can push dirt, load dirt, be used as a ripper too and dig and load more dirt deeper and faster. A simple inexpensive dump truck is built to haul dirt efficiently, it's hard to beat especially compared to an expensive scraper which doesn't haul more but uses twice as much fuel and is 10 times more expensive. It is important to get cost down and save fuel these days on these big tax projects, reservoirs and landfill projects. We are going to need a lot more reservoirs to save river water, saving our river water is extremely important, our aquifers are running dry. Saving fuel and money to do so is important. If we parked alot of these jet planes we would have alot more fuel for big water projects. One jet plane is 50 to 80 million, using billions of gallons of high grade kerosene, while the land is drying up. We would save money as a society and have many more jobs and equipment and fuel if we weren't wasting so much capital and fuel in those planes. Lakes and recreation and irrigation are more important. Eating good food by the lake is better than an exotic vacation of starving poor people. LLXIIX77
Thanks for the tip. At around 3:30 it jumped from the watering truck to what appeared to be a 'dozer tumbling down a long steep slope, about to come to rest when it cuts away to a different view looking down on another part of the site. No mention of outcome, but it looked rather violent.
They were talking about mountain blasting? I didn't see one mountain in the whole area. I live in the PNW. Now we have mountains. I live a 600' elevation and we say "we live on the hill" 🗻🏔️🏞️🌄
Lmao sitting here watching this video cause I love heavy equipment and was like holy hell this was the housing development on valley circle and roscoe in west hills, lmao my backyard.
Hi I just found and watched your video on west hills California and would like to say I was blown away by your filming, years ago I drove a mother scraper it was a Terex t24 but we never went down the side of mountains like you guys in the U.S. do, it was very uplifting to watch such a great film thank you for posting it I'm looking forward to watching more of your films, it's brilliant filming in beautiful wether on such a vast site. Thanks again. Mick in the U.K.
I did this kind of stuff nearly all my life the last 12 years I switched to mechanic because it payed more I thought I needed to build up my pention at a faster rate . I all ways liked operating dozers I ran a cat d11 n and r model for ten years for amerikolh mineing ,I also ran 992,988,983,977 and 400 Hough loaders plus 637,641,657, and ts 24 scrapers I prefer cat to anything else I've ran they just seem less trouble prone and seem to work better!I'd come home and run my farm tractor doing little jobs like mowing then I worked on guns in the winter mostly glass bedding lapping Barrell and locking lugs on bolt to make them more accurate ,.I'm retired now but do miss the money ,I did run d11 again after I retired one summer backfilling a strip job the owner ran out of money before I could finish!I hope he finds a way to get the job done !Hey maybe he'll need my help again!ps good video
Yes and they're protected in California where this is taking place right near my house! They're only protected until the city of Los Angeles wants taxes from a huge subdivision like that! Basturds!!!! Hypocrites!!!
Then, when you are in your 50's you get to go to your pain doctor and get epidurals and rhizotomys on your back so can make it through a 12 hour day and dream about retirement.
hi Kory... that was an awesome video.. love all the heavy equipment... the blasting was the icing on the cake... so are you in the construction trade ?? what are they going to build in that area??? thanks for sharing.. vinny
Nothing more inspiring than seeing brothers at work using innovative equipment to build the nation's infrastructure! Good honest hardworking brothers building a better nation! These workers are more inspiring than even the military....building building improving for their families a more perfect union a more perfect nation one mile at a time! God Bless each and every one of you and your families and may God Bless the USA! Now, time to build more communities and homes and towns hundreds of billions of dollars every year!

Brings back memories I used to follow 657s with my water truck till I wasted my back I miss those days and the money social security sucks.

Thank you for the machine sounds. I wondering .... What music is the operator listening 🎧 to?
Heavy metal 🤣
Dam if I was billy gates I’d have all these machines and build myself the nicest landscaped yard in the world.

El video que se ve es sumamente interesante y a la vez nos da conocer el avance de la inginieria en la maquinaria.

Whats the purpose of spraying water on the surface?
It helps with compaction. That's also why they put down the dirt in thin layers. The machines running on it also helps compact it.
