Is the 2021 Toyota Camry XLE a BETTER luxury sedan than a Mazda 6 & Accord?

  • The Camry has been a top selling midsize sedan for years and Toyota doesn't want to stop. There is tons of competition from Honda, Mazda, Hyundai & Kia. Under the hood is the a 3.5L V6 that produces 301HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic. On the outside the XLE has a unique front fascia, grill, and wheels. On the inside there is an all new 9in infotainment screen, leather seating, and tons of space. Is the 2021 Toyota Camry XLE a BETTER luxury sedan than a Mazda 6 & Accord?

@@naveenthemachine It truly is. However, the 4-cylinder is certainly adequate. I just became used to the power with all of my other vehicles. Definitely think Toyota/Lexus continue to focus on car reliability rather than excitement. That’s not a bad thing, I think everyone knows what they’re getting when they buy a Camry. If you want something more exciting go buy German and expect to put out $$$ for repairs and upkeep.

I never heard of Mazda’s having engine failing around 80k there’s a reason that Mazda is the most reliable car brand of 2021 there are plenty of skyactiv engines with well over 100k even some with 200k with no issues ever since they left Ford they have been much better and still continuing to be improving over the years. You must of been referring to the old ones that had Ford parts in there engines that wasn’t good. I don’t watch Scotty Kilmer that much but he even agreed that Mazda’s are much better than what they used to be .

I have this exact model (even the same color) with only one extra option - two USB ports in back. The mileage at full western freeway speed (75) on flat ground is 31 and performance is excellent as expected. The first generation of the 3.5L V6 made its Toyota sedan debut in the 2005 Avalon which was my prior car. The engine has gained horses, sophistication, and continues to be a bright spot. We'll see how the 2021 Camry ages. My prior experience over the 197K miles and 16 years was splendid, and the Avalon is still in service with a friend. With regular maintenance, I have high hopes for this iteration.

Where would you find vehicle replacement parts in 3002 for a 2002 vehicle? Try finding off the shelf auto store parts for a 1970's era car today. If the car is passed down through generations while being regularly driven, it will still need to be serviced and have mechanical parts replaced. Where would you even find a mechanic in 3002 who would know how to work on a 2002 vehicle. Imagine driving a 1920 Ford Model T into Pep Boys and asking for service in 2021. No car, even a Toyota has parts engineered to last 1,000 years. 20,000 miles per year (average yearly mileage) x 1,000 years = 20,000,000 miles.

I don't like the refreshed front grille design in the Camry. Toyota went for a sportier look, however the the front grille design does not look cohesive at all. That said, the reliability of Camry is second to none. I drove a Camry 2005 for almost 4 years till early 2021 without any reliability issue and pushed the odometer reading up to 230k. However, at a price range between 30k to 40k, the new boys (Sonata N-line, k5 GT) worth getting a serious look for their outstanding bang for the buck in terms of performance, technology, design, etc.

Hyundai and Kia are junk cars; their reliability not even comparable to well known Toyota’s durability. After owning a Toyota Sienna for about 15 years and racking up over 200k with just routine oil changes and other fluid replacement, I decided to buy Hyundai Sonata in 2017. I didn’t like the fact that I had to change my oil every 3000 miles, this car was 2017 car. I was changing my 2002 Toyota van’s oil every 5000 miles, regular conventional oil, and still going strong to this day. In 2019, I started having acceleration issue with my 2017 Hyundai Sonata that took whole year to figure out what the issue was. They’d fix the issue after a week or few months during some instances, and problem still kept coming back and recurring. The issue didn’t get fixed completely until early 2020, and they had denied all my requests to take back the car and refund me what it’s worth. Horrible company and not even comparable to Toyota in terms of quality of the cars.

The Camry is about Lexus smooth . I was going to get the Lexus ES-350 . This suited my needs very well . I like the Sonar Blind spot monitoring rear cross traffic alert ,Front and rear braking assist ...The same as the Lexus has . The Accord did not have that feature .
