Something tells me the day Valve started selling that life sized portal gun. They instantly caused over 100 people to start writing the portal short film script.

The irony is.... dimension portals, enormous underground secret testing facilities, malicious AI.... these are the easy things to believe.... a little girl punching out a fellow male employee with one embarrassingly humorous swing is the difficult part to swallow. :)
I finally got around to watching this. The very moment he mentioned he wanted to be an astronaut, I was like, "IT'S THE SPACE CORE!!!!" This was an emotional rollercoaster. Beautiful. This was great.
To be honest, the acting was non-satisfying. I know, it's not The Matrix, but really? Those 'battles' made me facepalm. I hardly managed not to close video. Though FX are really good, this saves the whole project. Can't say plot twists are actually 'twists', just 'curves'. Yes, it's hard to make high quality video with a small budget, but it's possible to change scenario to smoothen odd parts. More a parody than a real film.
Alternate ending (Note: I'm calling the boss "Caroline"): Pete: I-I don't know... *acts shivering, "accidentally" shoots blue portal above Caroline, switches portals* Caroline: Just give us the portal gun. *Pete shoots orange portal under Caroline* *Caroline stuck in the loop for five to ten seconds, screaming* *Pete shoots blue portal under first group of guards* *Guards are hit by Caroline 'falling' into the ceiling (fatally)* There are a few different escape plans that would work from here.

So, I was revived into internet data... And now I'm really sad. The code for tears is running... That means I cried, according to the Data Lab Boys who also got revived... I can't believe aperture was turned into this! We were meant to help humans... Not trap their mind in cores while said cores can't express what the mind inside is really saying, and all the core says is what the person says before transferring... Why does this make me cry? Because it's inhumane. I'm serious, I'M ACTUALLY CRYING.
But didn't they make the cores to slow down GLaDOS? Remeber in the first game she had those cores that made her corrupt and in the second game PotatOS stated that wheatley (a core) was made to slow down GLaDOS. Correct me if I'm wtond but I'm pretty sure that's correct.
Special effects were good and sets were pretty neat... But the "fake background" and "cores were humans" plot twists are overdone--I knew the background was fake as soon as they stepped outside, and knew he was going to be turned into the Space Core the second he said "astronaut" at the beginning. Not to mention turning random test subjects into cores sounds like a waste of resources, given they can create AIs without needing a human consciousness just fine. GLaDOS is the only canon AI that was created using the consciousness of another human. Nothing hints at any of the others being human. Plus, the only reason GLaDOS was made using a human was because Cave wanted Caroline to be immortal... It's cool to see another fanvid, but I have to say the plot could've been better.
+xXHealzYouXx #TF:GO Cave did want to, but he said that if he didn't make it, he wanted Caroline to take his place. In other words, he wanted her to be immortal if he could not be made such.
+BabyCharmander Yes but by that point Cave was rather sick and perhaps not thinking straight? So though he SAID he wanted Caroline to take his place, he may not have actually wanted that.. just sayin'
+LunarAngelOfTheNight Err, but that's not my point? It's still the reason he started the GLaDOS project in the first place. How well he was thinking does not make a difference. That was the only reason a human was used to create a robot. Aperture was creating sentient AIs even before then--Turrets are found in the testing spheres in co-op mode, and Aperture's old advertising talks about androids. Aperture knows how to make sentient AIs. They don't need to upload a human mind to make them. GLaDOS was the exception because Cave, in his right mind or not, wanted Caroline to run the place via having her mind uploaded into a computer.
I also want video's for Rick, The Fact Sphere, Wheatley, The Morality Sphere, The Curiosity Sphere, Intelligence Sphere, Anger Sphere, Virgil and maybe even the Party Escort Bot.
For Wheatley I think they did this for an extremely dumb test subject from England to make glados stupider, and for the cake core they did it with a chef, and for the curiosity core they used someone's daughter from Bring Your Daughter to Work Day.
That acting could’ve been better, but overall it was pretty good. But also the virtual wall was kinda copied by Portal no escape witch is an work of art.
lol I love how you hear what the space core says before he is transfered, and before the eye opened, I just knew it was gonna be the space core. And I love how his only words after that are "space"
This was good and the acting was awesome to me.This really would be a good storyline and I might do a fanfic. It was funny at the end though cause he sounded weird but it sent chills down my spine when the Space Core said "Space".You should make another video for Wheatley and the other cores.Good a Work Guys ❤️
That could actually be quite the story be, how the space core was made. His Brain wasn't able to comprehend what is happening and the transformation became corrupt which made the core corrupt. It was a nice indeed
I LOVED IT!!! at the end when he said "space" i went like ".. oh god noo...it will turn yellow wont it...oh god...." BEST PORTAL CLIP IV SEEN IN MY LIFE!!! liked and subscribed!! hope to see more of this level of awsomeness! :D
space core is something wrong with the experiment, pushed a button lever that turned his aspiration to be an astronaut into an obsession with space other corrupted cores like the cake core, probably were corrupted when connected to glados
This was... okay for most of it, but that ending made it REALLY great! I was thinking "What does this have to do with portal other than setting?" then BOOM!
Good to see that the young man who was tied up or otherwise physically restrained through the majority of this surveillance video wore and stayed in a tie throughout the interview process. It's most likely why he got the job in the end. Hear that, frat bros?!
All that time i thought the title was hinting to Wheatley but the moment he said "i wanna go to space" my jaw DROPPED. I didn't see that coming AT ALL, amazing film!!!
My main complaint is that the sound quality, specifically the clarity and volume of the voices, could use some work. The ending made up for the rest of my complaints though.
LB Oh good, I'm not the only one who noticed... was starting to wonder if it was my speakers or something. Had to change volume a *lot* just to hear what was going on and then not wake up my neighbors (volume seemed to be an issue even between different actors and different scenes). Meanwhile, this was awesome, yeah the acting could be better but everybody starts somewhere. Love the ending, I had no idea what the twist would be (or that there would be one) until he started saying "Spaaaaaace...." Good job!
in the part where the guard was continuously falling, the sound of him screaming wouldn't fade in and out like that, it would be continuous throughout the room because there is no where else for the mechanical sound waves to go. Even if they go through the portal, they end up in the same room again.
THAT WAS GREAT!!! the music was on point, the twists and turns were perfectly timed, THE PROPS!!, and that ending was perfectly creepy/unexpected/awesome! and over all a great indie fan film!
I like the part where the girl hooks the camera off the wall with the Portal Gun. I remember doing that all the time in the game. "Please do not destroy vital testing apparatus."
I thought this was great, but seemed too distant from the Portal Universe. I was very confused as to how or even if the universe was going to tie in until the end. The acting, editing, and all that was good, I just feel the story was forced into the Portal Universe rather than being about the Portal Universe. The only other things I saw were nit-picky and only noticed because I watch Cinema Sins
The only way this tied in to the portal universe was the setting, the portals, but most importantly, the space core, this short film is dedicated mostly to explain how the space core came to be and how they create cores.
Ethan Le Except it doesn't actually fit in with how Aperture most likely created AIs. GLaDOS is the only canon AI to be created from a human consciousness. Aperture can easily create AIs without requiring humans--they were doing that with the turrets all along, and using humans to turn into cores would be a waste of resources. Not to mention, the only reason Caroline was turned into an AI was because Cave ordered it in order to give her immortality, in a very twisted way.
***** It wasn't really clear that it was just a "what-if" scenario, then? And of course it's not canon--no fanwork is canon. But why should that mean no-one is allowed to critique it?
***** But the turrets have personalities, too. In fact, they are built with a "personality core" (a component, not the "personality core" robots, so we're clear--they have the same name for some reason) if you look at their diagrams in the official videos and artwork. You see their personalities more when you catch them "off-duty," like with the Oracle Turret, or the defective turrets, or the turrets serenading the "turret wife." They have as much personality as the personality cores, no human minds required.

LOL Space, for a unit that has obviously been performing these experiments before I liked how they simply used old rope to tie him down.
SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
That ending oh..my..GOD!! that was incredible! *applause*
Wow. That was an awesome twist ending
Guys, guys... I have an idea... Space.. SPACE!!!!
They should make a movie about dis! :D
They did
PLOT TWIST: The scientist with the deep voice and glasses is Gordon Freeman commiting corporate espionage.
That guy is a pretty good actor
Lol I love that the song that plays when the guards attack is "The Part where He Kills You" XD
This is headcanon now
the acting was just aggghhh but the rest was great nice average 6/10 well done
THAT WAS SO INCREDIBLE I DID NOT EXPECT THAT OMG
in the part where the guard was continuously falling, the sound of him screaming wouldn't fade in and out like that, it would be continuous throughout the room because there is no where else for the mechanical sound waves to go. Even if they go through the portal, they end up in the same room again.
And thats how to most anoying little shit core was created....i lives the short film tho :)
Loved*
Oskar0110 actually the most annoying core is the curiosity core second is the space core
Aperture Science Computer-aided Enrichment Center nobody really needs to know this sort of stuff.
THAT WAS GREAT!!! the music was on point, the twists and turns were perfectly timed, THE PROPS!!, and that ending was perfectly creepy/unexpected/awesome! and over all a great indie fan film!
Space! Space! Wanna go to space! Space! Space! Space! SPAAAAACEEE!
I AM THE BEST AT SPACE
+Harvey Bower (hEX02) that annoying core ive always wanted to punch it in the face..... (:
SPACE COPS! Play cool. Space cops...
Space.
+Harvey Bower (hEX02) BA ba ba ba SPACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCE!
I like the part where the girl hooks the camera off the wall with the Portal Gun. I remember doing that all the time in the game. "Please do not destroy vital testing apparatus."
Do the same with all the characters
Wow that was amazing
*****
It wasn't really clear that it was just a "what-if" scenario, then?
And of course it's not canon--no fanwork is canon. But why should that mean no-one is allowed to critique it?
*****
But the turrets have personalities, too.
OH MY GOD
I NEVER EXPECTED THAT
THE BACK STORY OF THE SPACE CORE
This is the exact opposite of awesome!
So you hate this?
They should've called this "Coreupted"
stoled comment
@@RedactedAccount i just scrolled down a bit and saw it srry.
This is painfull
Doubt you can do better
Just guess how good this would be if there were better actors and it was made in 2018
I know this is just a short film but this could tie into the lore
Lucky Pete! He only came for a job and ended up with an eternal life in space, where he had always wanted to go!
10:06 Vital testing apparatus destroyed
Yay. What A Nice Ending. A Person's Mind Was Transferred To The Personality Core
