I know someone who had _seven_ tests and still says he's "just not a very good driver". That's still the record in my social circle - the average for us was two attempts and that includes me. Also knew someone who apparently failed on 15 minors and my own instructor was flabbergasted when I told him. He said he'd never had any of his own pupils manage that before and by that stage you'd be expecting a recurring problem to be upgraded to a serious. But this was 20 years ago when testing standards and the criteria were very different, for starters the examiners spoke Latin and you had to demonstrate turning the handle on the front. But I do work with someone who seems to have failed a test on a Dangerous. They didn't elaborate but sheepishly admitted that they had to walk back to the test centre.
@@MT-dn4tuWhat a dumb thing to say. You’re definitely someone who just couldn’t find a test and can’t afford to fast track it and get an early test date. Their money their choices. If you can’t afford £60 don’t take it out on other people.
Hi Pin, just want to say a big thank you for all that you do! Passed my driving test yesterday at the first attempt and I'm sure a massive part of that is due to your videos!!
These videos are good even for drivers that havr passed, they show you what to watch out for and how other people behave when driving so you can be ready for all kinds of situations
i passed my test nearly 20 years ago. If I sat a modern mock test I wonder how I'd do? i wonder how many faults I'd rack up on a single drive to work or the supermarket. Might be interesting. Bear in mind that if I was disqualified and ordered to resit my test, it would be under today's standards.
I've had my driving license for 18 years, and I don't even live in England but they're still relevant and made me realize the few things you kind of forget with time and you're not as cautious as you should be so it's really helpful!
15:00 If the learner behind was awarded a serious fault by the examiner we cannot definitively know this has caused a test failure because they may have already done another or other serious faults.
true, and honestly, they weren't keeping up with pin and elaine so they couldn't have even been close to the speed of the road, so it would likely have been a fault with or without this incident.
I know someone who failed because of another driver. He had someone right up his bum, got distracted/intimidated on a 40mph road and blew past a 30 sign at above 30. Serious fault.
@@halfbakedproductions7887 I saw a video somewhere on TH-cam where a candidate failed because they did not react correctly to an idiot driving a car in the opposite direction to all other traffic on a roundabout.
that lorry driver should of let elaine move out as she already started the manoeuvre so that didnt help the situation, and some really impatient drivers on the road, I'm sure she will make a good driver in a few more lessons
Hey Pin, A fellow ADI here just curious about the Electronic Parking Brake I usually teach my students to set the gas a bit and then after their observations to get a bit of bite and then they just move off without problems like stalling and jumping. Just wondering if you agree on that because I see you always make them get the bite and then release the EPB with a touch of gas Will be happy to connect and do something together if possible :) Your videos helped a lot of Learners but I bet they helped a lot of ADIs as well! Deep thank you for all of your work and efforts!
All your videos on these mock tests really helped with my learning. I recently passed a week ago first try *cough 7 minors cough* but i still passed! 😂
7:25 Who on earth beeps a driving school vehicle? You know they have an instructor on board so completely unnecessary. 26:20 Hmm, it's almost like driving school vehicles should have some kind of warning, maybe a big red 'L' for learner so you know they might do something unexpected or suddenly stop and to keep your distance.
It's almost like official driving school vehicles have livery and official signage that a normal learner doesn't use on their own car. Pretty sure it's actually illegal to display L plates if there isn't a learner at the wheel - there has to have been a time where a police car has spotted a single-occupant car with L plates and asked for a chat to clarify things. Official driving school vehicles are the only exemption and even then the roof sign is normally magnetic and easily removable.
Unfortunately, there are people like that out there. I got hooted at every now and then when I was a learner for being too slow or for being not going onto the pedestrian crossing when the traffic in front of me stopped but the light was green.
@@halfbakedproductions7887 Yeah they will pull you! I drove past a police car with my L plates on and my husband actually sat with me, but he’s very tall so his seat was quite far back and the police officer apparently couldn’t see him. So he pulled me to make sure I wasn’t a learner driving on my own. It was a bit nerve wracking as a legit learner at the time, but he did compliment how calmly I pulled over for him and that I didn’t panic and do it somewhere unsafe 😂
It really depends on how it works. I had a manual car with an electronic parking brake. When you stopped you could apply the handbrake by pulling the switch to "on". When you wanted to move off it automatically released itself as the car started to move consequently if you were facing uphill on an degree of steepness it never rolled back. It made sense to turn it on whenever you stopped.
You can disengage the electronic hand brake if you push the little lever down, I do it with my car as I personally think it will wear something out if you drive off as it is disengaging.
I'm sure I've caused other learners their test pass while I was still learning crossroads and traffic lights. This is aspect of the test that is all down to luck!
Got to be honest here, I wouldn’t want to drive that car for the first time on a mock test. After 40 years of driving it would take me a bit to get used to it.
Im happy to inform that I passed my exam today and your contents were so amazing. I didn’t take any instructors and only watched every single video you uploaded on your channel. That was really helpful like real time driving with you. Thank you so much for these contents. Cheers!!!
Can't be the only person annoyed by the constant head-turning while parking. Just go, there are no cars or people behind you or ext to you. Not entirely her fault since they train them like this.
an Innocent soul try to get a driving license . She deserve it. But definitely she needs more practice and whoever is told her to take the test need to be canceled his/her instrctor license.
Electric hand brakes can be a pain, they’re sometimes slow to react. The lorry incident wasn’t really her fault, the lorry pulled away without signalling and still had his hazards on, however, I would agree thar she’s definitely not test ready.
She needs more work indeed, especially general situational awareness. However I do not agree with the second serious fault of planning. I think it is the fault of the lorry driver, he moves off when somebody is overtaking him.
Idk what kind of instructor she had. I've went to driving school in an Eastern European country and my instructor always told me to push the gas while i'm getting to the bitting point of the clutch. I don't understand why she tried to move off using only the clutch. This way the automatic brake would have turned off immediately!
On some Diesel cars you can move off in 2nd using the clutch. My old car you could do that, but it wasn't easily controllable and very much discouraged. I now drive petrol and that's just not a thing.
I'm wondering if instructors teach pupils not use gas to move off to preserve clutch wear, my instructor didn't and I stall few times when renting a car, luckily I picked up the add gas technique pretty quickly, glad I watched these videos while I was learning lol
And then Ashley Neal's conceited monologues about how he's right and everyone else is wrong. That guy is an arsehole who even films himself arguing with the police.
When did DE's start wearing hi viz vests in cars because when I did my training, we were told to take them off when in the vehicle so the candidate felt more at ease.
The one he has is pretty useless to avoid stalling and a tad too complicated. My instructors car had auto release or something where all you had to do was go to the biting point and it would release and move off
Very unimpressed with the learner fiesta that passed on the nearside after the lorry moved off. They certainly didn't show enough patience and not to mention passing on the nearside is very dangerous. Maybe the right signal contributed to the confusion however i think they should have read the situation more carefully.
I was once on a single lane roundabout, I had my signal on indicating I was staying on a roundabout. A learner on test probably did not see that. And thus went pass his give way marking causing both of us to stop. I felt bad for the learner because he had an examinator next to him with a vest on. But oh well, he caused me to stop and he barked late so I guess he failed.
At first yes. But it is actually very nice. And you will never ever worry about rolling back. Since it will never let go unless it senses that you gave enough revs/rpm. As long as you get the bite point first then step the gas for it to release. But never ever press the gas without getting the bite point first as it will release. I learned on an e-brake. But my first car was a 2009 ver focus that has a hand brake. It feels different and takes getting used too but I got the feel for it eventually.
I wonder if she's used to driving a diesel? I learned in a petrol car and never stalled once, but when i got a car I got a diesel and quickly realised the sheer torque alone is enough to move off so long as its not on a hill. Her immediate stall makes me think she's used to just lifting the clutch in a diesel. Also, I love the security of my electronic parking brake but it can really kill my mood sometimes when I'm used to the stick being on and off when i need it and the ebrake does its little timed wait instead.
Here are the key points for developing proper driving habits that promote safety, efficiency, and vehicle longevity: Gear Handling and Clutch Use: Avoid holding the gear lever while driving or shifting to prevent wear on internal mechanisms. Keep your foot off the clutch when it's not needed to prevent unnecessary wear and maintain better control of the vehicle. Steering Control and Awareness: Understand the relationship between the steering wheel's position and the wheels for precise control. Always check blind spots when changing lanes to stay safe and avoid dangerous situations. Spatial Awareness and Emergency Maneuvering: Improve your spatial awareness to navigate tight spaces and avoid obstacles. Practice quick and precise steering maneuvers to handle emergencies effectively and safely. Proper Pedal and Signal Usage: Use the clutch, brake, accelerator, and handbrake consistently and correctly to ensure smooth operation and reduce wear. Avoid pressing the clutch unnecessarily during turns to maintain full control of the vehicle. Vehicle Maintenance and Longevity: Proper handling of the steering, pedals, and gear shifter helps prevent premature wear on critical components. Keeping the vehicle well-maintained reduces the risk of breakdowns and enhances its resale value. Long-Term Safety and Reliability: Minimizing strain on the car’s systems ensures better reliability and helps avoid costly repairs. Practicing good driving habits will safeguard the vehicle and promote safety for both you and others on the road. Building Good Habits Early: Establishing solid fundamentals from the start is crucial, as bad habits can be difficult to break later on. Encouraging these practices early sets the foundation for confident, responsible driving. By focusing on these driving habits, you'll ensure your safety, improve vehicle efficiency, and extend its lifespan.
Hi mate I’m a new driver and when it comes to moving off with electronic parking brake on I find it quite harsh especially in tight parking spaces. I prefer to switch off parking brake to avoid situations like this 23:50 when you car is accelerating too much of the lane. I believe it’s more safe to switch off electronic parking brake especially in tight spaces. What’s the point of forcing her to move off with parking brake on?
I have been having these things come up in my feed. Do UK drivers not practice with their parents? Watching a lot of these videos and some of the drivers are beyond clueless.
One of the possibility is she is learning manual but her family only has an automatic car which does not help. (At least i was in that situation so I bought my own car with learner license before my test just for practicing)

@@halfbakedproductions7887 I just don't care.
@@MT-dn4tuWhat a dumb thing to say. You’re definitely someone who just couldn’t find a test and can’t afford to fast track it and get an early test date. Their money their choices. If you can’t afford £60 don’t take it out on other people.
Everyone has different pace of learning all depends how many hours shes put in
Remember once you have passed thier is no one to help you. All you need is practice and youll be fine
She drives like it's her first ever driving lesson let alone a mock test 🤦🏽
I've had my driving license for 18 years, and I don't even live in England but they're still relevant and made me realize the few things you kind of forget with time and you're not as cautious as you should be so it's really helpful!
Passed my test last week with no minors. It’s so enjoyable binge watching mock tests 😂
Congratulations! 🎉 but same (except I had 4 minors 😂) and you’re right it’s a complete catharsis watching these videos!
The learner behind didn't fail because of this learner, they were on a dual carriageway and had the option to overtake.
@@halfbakedproductions7887 I saw a video somewhere on TH-cam where a candidate failed because they did not react correctly to an idiot driving a car in the opposite direction to all other traffic on a roundabout.
Thank you Pin for all your content.. I passed my test today - your videos helped me so much!!
She's not experienced enough yet. Needs more practice, everything is still a bit too slow.
that lorry driver should of let elaine move out as she already started the manoeuvre so that didnt help the situation, and some really impatient drivers on the road, I'm sure she will make a good driver in a few more lessons
Hey Pin,
A fellow ADI here
just curious about the Electronic Parking Brake
I usually teach my students to set the gas a bit and then after their observations to get a bit of bite and then they just move off without problems like stalling and jumping.
Just wondering if you agree on that because I see you always make them get the bite and then release the EPB with a touch of gas
Will be happy to connect and do something together if possible :)
Your videos helped a lot of Learners but I bet they helped a lot of ADIs as well!
Deep thank you for all of your work and efforts!
All your videos on these mock tests really helped with my learning. I recently passed a week ago first try *cough 7 minors cough* but i still passed! 😂
passed my test thursday with absolutely no minors or faults!! im so happy, still love watching ur videos though lol
I'm 22, and I had 4 lessons (4) hrs ever driving. I'm picking it up quickly. I can't wait to drive.
Great attempt by the learner, but certainly more lessons are needed, then her confidence will grow 😊
It's all about the starting. If it goes well you will be fine. Plus The car does not help for learners in particular.
I passed my test in July but I still enjoy watching ur videos
I would be mortified for the learner who only failed because of her and watching this video 😂😂😂
Pin, you have got some self control, I couldn’t do your job! You’re a true professional. I cannot believe she has a test even booked!
I passed manual 4 years ago, switched to auto a year ago and I wouldn't go back. Watching these videos cements my decision. 😅
She’s not ready
@@halfbakedproductions7887 it's not illegal but police can ask you to remove them. otherwise instructors would be breaking the law between lessons
Hi thank u for these videos... I passed my test today and this series has helped me alot in accomplishinh this.
In London like 50% of cars are learner drivers. Some places are like 99%. You are literally surrounded by L's.
Electronic parking break in a manual for a learner is unfair 😭
It really depends on how it works. I had a manual car with an electronic parking brake. When you stopped you could apply the handbrake by pulling the switch to "on". When you wanted to move off it automatically released itself as the car started to move consequently if you were facing uphill on an degree of steepness it never rolled back. It made sense to turn it on whenever you stopped.
My learner car had an electronic break. I hated that thing 😭. I find the lever easier
My focus mk4 is manual with electronic parking break. It's very easy
@wysiwyg2006 it's easy for an experienced driver. More complicated for a learner Mr Hamilton 🤣
Electronic parking brakes in general are doodoo tbh
I mean she's going to mostly be sitting in stand still traffic in London lol.
that was the most painful parallel park i've ever seen haha
That’s what we call friendly fire
It’s like the whole world was conspiring against her on that day.
Thank you for all your videos pin… I passed my test 4 days ago, these helped so much with remembering my mirrors 🎉
At 8:50 , what was the best decision? If she chose to wait, would it have been bad because the vehicle behind her overtook?
an Innocent soul try to get a driving license .
She’s also pressing the brake while lifting the clutch and that’s probably not help her either.
I absolutely hate electronic parking brakes 🤣
To br fair it's hard for learners to adjust to a new car, she's probably done all her lessons in her instructors car, but she wasn't ready to re test.
Going for so long in 1st gear was honestly making me cringe 😂
20:58 isnt that a fault for dry steering?
I dont understand what the driver was supposed to do at the end? If you was to wait where will that be?
What are you on about?
I have to say she needs to learn in a automatic. I had the same issues with a manual and so glad I went to auto.
I'm wondering if instructors teach pupils not use gas to move off to preserve clutch wear, my instructor didn't and I stall few times when renting a car, luckily I picked up the add gas technique pretty quickly, glad I watched these videos while I was learning lol
We need a DGN and Clearview collab

Van absolutely should have waited for her to finish overtaking. It was really in the wrong with that one.
She hesitated for 2 seconds behind that lorry ppl need to calm down and be patient on the road
When did DE's start wearing hi viz vests in cars because when I did my training, we were told to take them off when in the vehicle so the candidate felt more at ease.
Get Juvenal or whatever his name is on 😂.
no
@@CrispeeCrisps15 yes
He will fail even in Automatic car lol
Gosh, the electric parking break - all cars should have the manual ones!
Why electtic one is fine and much smaller
There is nothing wrong with them if you set the gas first which is the normal procedure. This avoids the vast majority of stalling events.
Nah
@@keith6400 I'm just used to my manual one, haha.
No big issue here Elaine just needs some familiarisation with the vehicle first then she can drive it with confidence
Passed but still watching club anyone?
That lorry was a ±±±±
I was stuck in traffic, but took over an hour to complete the test...
Tbf I have a licence and I think I would struggle with the electronic brake at first
It's much easier tbf, I learnt in a car with ebrake and my car now has a normal handbrake and I find it harder tbf. Especially on hillstarts
@@BubaramDashcam I don’t drive with electronic brakes u helmet 😭
I wonder if she's used to driving a diesel? I learned in a petrol car and never stalled once, but when i got a car I got a diesel and quickly realised the sheer torque alone is enough to move off so long as its not on a hill. Her immediate stall makes me think she's used to just lifting the clutch in a diesel.
Also, I love the security of my electronic parking brake but it can really kill my mood sometimes when I'm used to the stick being on and off when i need it and the ebrake does its little timed wait instead.
Here are the key points for developing proper driving habits that promote safety, efficiency, and vehicle longevity:
Gear Handling and Clutch Use:
Avoid holding the gear lever while driving or shifting to prevent wear on internal mechanisms.
Keep your foot off the clutch when it's not needed to prevent unnecessary wear and maintain better control of the vehicle.
Steering Control and Awareness:
Understand the relationship between the steering wheel's position and the wheels for precise control.
Always check blind spots when changing lanes to stay safe and avoid dangerous situations.
Spatial Awareness and Emergency Maneuvering:
Improve your spatial awareness to navigate tight spaces and avoid obstacles.
Practice quick and precise steering maneuvers to handle emergencies effectively and safely.
Proper Pedal and Signal Usage:
Use the clutch, brake, accelerator, and handbrake consistently and correctly to ensure smooth operation and reduce wear.
Avoid pressing the clutch unnecessarily during turns to maintain full control of the vehicle.
Vehicle Maintenance and Longevity:
Proper handling of the steering, pedals, and gear shifter helps prevent premature wear on critical components.
Keeping the vehicle well-maintained reduces the risk of breakdowns and enhances its resale value.
Long-Term Safety and Reliability:
Minimizing strain on the car’s systems ensures better reliability and helps avoid costly repairs.
Practicing good driving habits will safeguard the vehicle and promote safety for both you and others on the road.
Building Good Habits Early:
Establishing solid fundamentals from the start is crucial, as bad habits can be difficult to break later on.
Encouraging these practices early sets the foundation for confident, responsible driving.
By focusing on these driving habits, you'll ensure your safety, improve vehicle efficiency, and extend its lifespan.
By any chance can current drivers with full licences do a mock test?
I think you can manually disable the parking break by pushing the button down. It's easier than trying to drive off.
First roundabout was painful to watch
She'll get there, just needs a few more lessons
Hi mate I’m a new driver and when it comes to moving off with electronic parking brake on I find it quite harsh especially in tight parking spaces. I prefer to switch off parking brake to avoid situations like this 23:50 when you car is accelerating too much of the lane. I believe it’s more safe to switch off electronic parking brake especially in tight spaces. What’s the point of forcing her to move off with parking brake on?
Want to say thank you for all your videos. Today I passed my test with 2 minors!
I have been having these things come up in my feed. Do UK drivers not practice with their parents? Watching a lot of these videos and some of the drivers are beyond clueless.
Well, sometimes, that's not really up to them. Not every parent learns to drive.
Some do but the majority of us have lessons with actual driving instructors.
@@sjanex thank you for the response. I hope she finds a better instructor!
One of the possibility is she is learning manual but her family only has an automatic car which does not help. (At least i was in that situation so I bought my own car with learner license before my test just for practicing)
I think she did not half bad but I can tell her and the handbrake weren’t getting along too well 😂
What kind of dash cameras you use?
