You son of a gun, I tried and it worked in the first try. My locla broadband operator was charging me 200 bucks just to do crimping and keep in mind I even had the rj45 pin as well so all he had to do is just use that tool. To which I declined and tried to do it myself today. You're awesome man
I was so confused as to how the smaller wires make connections when we dont strip them in the first place. The explanation was simply demonstrated. Excellent video explaining all of queries. Thank you
If you have access to crimping tools for free, do it properly. But this should work as well, just those pins gets imperfections made by screwdriver. Not a big deal, it should still work. Good enought to save money instead of buyng crimping tools for one time use. But
You weren't lying, this is the best video for this. Beware people, there are 2 possible combinations of the wire color order. Look at your wire first to see which you should follow. Thank you!!
I appreciate that you showed how the crimper works and how the blades connect to the wires. All the other videos left that information out. But you included it
Thank you for this! I accidentally severed my Cat6 cable working on a framing project. Took me 2 tries but finally the lights went on! Someone here mentioned using a metal ruler to push the pins down...awesome tip! I also used a stubby flathead screwdriver after pushing them flush with the plastic with the ruler. Using a firm rocking motion with the screwdriver was key in finally pushing the pins down enough to pierce the jacket. Be careful not to crush the plastic bits between the pins, that's how I messed things up the first try.
It Works..............!! Horray😄😄 First i ordered crimping tool for making a Rj4 Connector Once. Then I watched The Comments in this video. Got The confidence & I Did It....
Bravo. I like the way you show both use of a crimping tool as well as cheaper alternatives. I don't do this much so the home tool option is what I was looking for; I don't need another expensive tool in my box that will probably become obsolete before I reach for it again.
I have a ethernet port in the wall that wasn’t working and I found out I had to connect to cable running through the wall to my router but the cable didn’t have a connector 😂😂 I just ordered 100 connectors LOL and I cant wait to try out your method!!!
Quite helpful, indeed. There may arise certain situations, when you can't get a hold of your crimping tool: in those scenarios, this makeshift arrangement saves your day. Also, for those who don't want to buy one for that odd crimp job, this technique may come in handy . I use screwdriver to push in the latch and a steel ruler to push the copper pins into the wire.
Love you men! It works so easy, very well explain. Now, I don't need to plug out and bring the whole wire to the nearest computer shop to repair this broken RJ45. I don't even need to buy crimper. Very easy, the easiest thing to do in trouble shooting!
Thanks a lot, most videos just go for thr crimping tool without explaining how it works. You went into explaining how the pins pierce the sheathing and how the latch works.
You just saved me from a lot of work cause my 15m ethernet cable (which is double side taped to the wall) was bent badly towards one end and had disconnections. Cut it half a meter before the plug, followed your tutorial and VOILA !!!! It works flawlessly now and i dont need to run a new 15m cable !! Thank you !
Great! I made it successfully. One thing to note is the pins must be pushed down so that finally they are below the plastic. If it feels flat, that means the pins didn't be pushed to the end.
Thank you so much for the help, everything you did was perfect the only thing that i found hard was the part were you had to strighten the cables but besides that it was easy!
Thanks bro for this tutorial. I'm really glad I didn't buy the clipping tool just for the sake of 2 connectors and then throwing it away. I'm getting 27mbps speed in my second floor with the wire that I just connected through watching your video. Thanks again mate.
great explanation of how the connector works, showing the prong of the pins was very helpful in understanding the mechanism. been searching for something like this
thank you sir. youre a life saver. i have my rusty old crimping tool then i cut my cables then when i was about to use the crimping tool, the teeth does not align to the little prongs. thanks for this
I thought you could only do this with a special tool. Needed to do 4 RJ45 ends in my house, didn't have the tool. Watched your video, tried and it worked! I did brake two plastic ends in the process, but I had some to spare. Much appretiated!
Very important, make sure when crimping the base of the plug that the pvc sleeve is the one being crimped so it acts like a strain relief, otherwise you will be crimping the data wires themselves and it will cause them to fail over time as you plug and unplug the cable.
Thanks a lot, ur tip WORKED for me, video saved me from a lot of trouble and now I can post this comment using the Internet I got from that fixed lan 😆
Thanks you man...i've to cable a pc and a smart tv at home and even buying a cheap tools for 4 times use costs more than all the other materials to do the job
excellent video, thank you. I accidentally cut into my ISP provided long cable, which is coming from outside the house in a locked box. It is working again, thanks!
Make sure you use the right connector! Stranded wire connectors are not good with solid wire ("backbone system cable"). And solid wire connectors are not good with stranded ("flex patch cable"). These how too videos do not tell you that. There are "universal connectors" but installers don't usually like them or use them. Just use the right one for the job to make the best cables. Here's the simple rule: If the prongs are INLINE (straight) then that is used for stranded wire. If the prongs are OFFSET (NOT INLINE but crooked) they are for solid wire connections. Even the stores selling connectors rarely get it right. You have to check. Using the wrong connector makes poor cables that fail early. Search for the pictures of the prongs. You understand it clearly when you see them. Know your cable wires before you crimp them! Solid or stranded.
Thx for this and man i'm glad i'm off the booze. Every time you cut something and said seeeiiizzzeersss i wanted to go get some Silent Sam, celery, tomato juice and Worcester sauce. Cheers m8
I don't know how you do it and kudos to you, but in my case I just wasted 15 minutes of my life, destroyed a plug and the damn pins are still not all the way through:) having special trouble with the side most pins. going to buy a tool now :)
You can use either 568A and 568B standards at as long as they're the same standard at both ends to create a straight cable that connects dissimilar devices together and use 2 different standards at both ends to create a crossover cable that connects similar devices together.
There' no need in crossover cables anymore. They became obsolete at least 10-15 years ago because all devises nowadays have implemented Ethernet auto MDI-X.
You son of a gun, I tried and it worked in the first try. My locla broadband operator was charging me 200 bucks just to do crimping and keep in mind I even had the rj45 pin as well so all he had to do is just use that tool. To which I declined and tried to do it myself today. You're awesome man
I'm glad I could help you! 200$ that's crazy You can buy a new crimper for 15$ and a whole bunch of connectors. The link in the description.

I'm glad I could help you!
yeah excellent the golden parts how you remove them?? try to lift it up and it doesn't work with a knife.... it's not well explained
Thank you! I really did not want to buy a crimping tool for one time use!
Glad I could help!
Exactly, this guy is a genius
If you have access to crimping tools for free, do it properly. But this should work as well, just those pins gets imperfections made by screwdriver. Not a big deal, it should still work. Good enought to save money instead of buyng crimping tools for one time use.

Thanks brother you’re awesome
Same here 😁
A perfect no nonsense, clearly filmed, to-the-point explanation; thank you!!!

You weren't lying, this is the best video for this.

Thank you!!
Happy to help!
Thank u, almost 6 professional people told me I needed the Clippers and you have just proven all of them wrong
I'm glad I could help you!

You are a life saver, especially showing such a clear chart of the color order, I fixed my cable and it went great! Thank you
You're welcome!
Actually, colour doesn't really matter as long as it matches on the both sides of the cable.

Good one
I wasn't able to push in the pins far enough with a flathead. As soon as I bought a crimping tool, everything worked fine.
