Fun video! I recently visited a friend I grew up with who was only allowed to have Skipper. She pulled "Skipper" out of storage and I had to inform her that who she has is actually Scooter! 😆 My theory is that the Scooter (so ugly she's cute in my opinion!) headmold is a shrunken down version of another Mattel doll of the time - Charmin' Chatty. Google her and you'll see what I mean. I couldn't have any Barbies growing up ("Boys don't play with dolls!") but when I moved out on my own I realized that I was paying my bills and I could have whatever I wanted! 40 years later my collection is still growing.... 🤩

I always liked them. Alas, in my younger days & generation circa, early 1960's it was ordinarily frowned upon for the boy to play with dolls! Drats! And Barbie, well she was rated X taboo!!! Love your videos! My parents disapproved of Barbies so I didn't have any - growing up in the UK, I had Sindy instead. But I did get a Skipper doll. I don't think my parents actually realised she was related to Barbie 😄

@@Thedollswitness Sindy's supposed to be more 'girl next door' than Barbie and her boyfriend was named after Paul McCartney! I don't think it's so much as an anti-American thing, as it is trying to make a doll with a distinctly British personality :) my mum and auntie were not even allowed Sindy, they had Amanda Jane who is somewhere between the ages of Kelly/Shelly and Stacie.

I loved skipper!! I never had any of the other kid dolls like tutti or Todd when I was a kid but I thought they we all super cute. Poor scooter. She was Mattels answer to Midge..........only for Skipper. LOVE your videos you sexy beast!! Keep up the great work......

I love how you go over all the dolls from the different decades, it is very nostalgic for me, who got my first Barbie and Skipper in the late 60’s around the age of 4 and have loved them ever since!! I also love playing with my brother’ s Big Jim dolls and would love to see a video about the old boys dolls!!

I wasn’t allowed to have Skipper. I think my parents realized they would have to buy a whole different wardrobe and said “No way!” The same went for Francie-sized dolls. I was allowed to have Dawn dolls though. Go figure.

I had all the dolls growing up! I was born in 2003 but I played with mostly 80s and 90s dolls that my mother passed down to me. I liked all of them but I think I usually identified with Skipper more because she was closer to my age. But as I got older I kind of switched over to Barbie and Francie.

Yeah Francine always seemed to be the perfect younger teenage doll to me. She's not as old as Barbie but older than Skipper. And she's so darn cute!
You had my "like" when you said you keep a mask on poor Scooter, lol. Honestly, Tutti kind of scares me, too sometimes (crazy eyes). I have a Buffy w Mrs. Beasley because she was one of my childhood faves and I think she does a super cute job repping that line. I did have Growin' Up Skipper as a kid and liked her a lot. It just seemed like a fact of life that girls grow up. And I enjoyed making her grow up and age down, like a fidget. I had a LOT of Barbies as a kid with a few Skippers. I had my sister's blond straight leg and a Malibu Skippper & Growin' Up. I like her better now than I did then. I got a gorgeous brunette Test Market SL Skipper recently that I just LOVE. For me as a kid, Skipper's value rested mostly in being Barbie's adoring audience.
Oh nice! Yeah, I can almost see the appeal for skipper more with adults than kids, which sounds weird. lol I guess I just feel like I really would’ve wanted an ‘adult’ doll as a child. 🤷♂️❤️❤️
I was nine when Anissa Jones died, the actress who played Buffy on Family Affair. So then my mom got to field the question, "what does 'OD' mean?" 😬 I had that Quick Curl Skipper and a couple of Little Kiddles as a kid.

Fab video as always! I love Skooter lol, I think she's got a super cute cheeky look....as a kid, I definitely identified as Shelly (as Kelly is known in the UK). I've only gotten into Barbie herself in the past 2 years, but I started off collecting Shelly, which evolved into the whole Roberts family.

Well Tuesday Taylor opening the segment threw me a little. Ricky was just assumed to be Alan's brother as they have an undeniable resemblance. Skooter was just a bad influence on Skipper. I can say I just enjoy your knowledge including the Kiddles. I have a Todd, but as you know they haven't aged very well. Keep on producing such great content.

This came up in my recommended while I'm sitting here cleaning my only Liddle Kiddle, Bunson Bernie. He's been put away for years because I knew he'd be fiddly to clean up with that wire body and delicate pieces.
My mum was one of those kids who was only allowed to have Skipper. On the upside, she still has her in great condition with box and everything:)
Skipper was always my favorite. I even like her better than Barbie. I had both.
I've never seen anything that officially established Ricky or Skooter as a sibling of another doll. I always 'headcanon' that Skooter is Allan's little sister, and Ricky is Midge's little brother, because of the eye colors. Little brown-eyed Chris would be part of Allan and Skooter's family in this scenario. I don't really collect the Tutti-sized dolls all that much, but I do have a Todd and a Chris, both in really good condition, and a Melody In Pink Tutti that I need to restore. I really just need to sort out her hair and restyle it, and find something for her to wear but I haven't. I need to get on that.
You didn't mention her in your video, but I'm sure you know that in the late 90s there was Teen Skipper, who was a really pretty version of the character. She was more of an older teenager, but then Skipper got younger again in the 2000s, where she has remained. Courtney and Nikki from this line are gorgeous dolls, and I have a small collection of these dolls from that time period.
My first Skipper was 1979 Sun Lovin' Malibu Skipper, who I had a child, and for a few years she was my only Skipper (and the Ken from that collection was my only Ken for a couple of years as well). I was all about Barbie and her friends back in the day, it was only as I transitioned into being a collector that I started to appreciate the younger characters and the male dolls more.

I definitely had that Courtney doll and I still have her in a box somewhere ! LOL and also Teresa and also the heart-to-heart family because they had dark hair and dark eyes because I grew up Puerto Rican in Sunset Park Brooklyn in the 90s or 80s 90s and there wasn’t too many people in MY family and neighborhood at that time with blonde hair and blue eyes so, I always gravitate towards the , dark hair, dark eyed dolls,. That’s why I am so grateful and so in love with the fact that there’s so much more diversity in not only the Barbie world but the doll and toy world and community in general, at least the little kids in my family can have dolls, they relate to, but they can also a variety and a good mix of different dolls, wide view of the world cause believe it or not when little kids are playing with toys that is their world , they controlled that world ,they learn from that world and let me stop myself from going on a tear ❤sorry, but the other dolls that they had in the 90s that I wish they had a version of now is Tommy the little brother of Ken I didn’t know it existed until I saw it in a Sam n Mickey episode but Ken’s little brother Tommy that is a cute doll! And When are we gonna get Barbie’s parents in doll form? like come on now!

I had Ricky and Tutti as a child. Todd I found several years later. Oiriginally I wanted Tutti&Todd gift pack, but they were all sold out.. However, Todd survived in my plays, He was with Ken´s first wife who lived abroad and never allowed the twins to have any connections..

Yo, speaking of dolls that need to wear facemasks 24/7 that’s how I always felt about Tootie and Todd dolls and also about the smaller Sindy dolls like the riding club Sindy I only have one because I am an equestrian and I’m a lifelong horse girl, so I have to have one, but like there in a box wrapped up I am also Hispanic and I Do Not need that type of energy ! In Spanish it’s mal de Ojo, but at the same time I’m a collector and I like to Include pieces that I don’t necessarily think are that beautiful but I think are important to have because they are part of the history and the story of the collection as a whole and that it will feel more complete at the end of it all. It’s kind of like the fact that I don’t really like the Beatles but I respect their music and what they’ve done for music as a whole so I know some of their more important music pieces even though I wouldn’t play them for myself TMI. SORRY ITS AN ADD moment! My bad really! Actually, the thing I really wanted to let you know was that I just found your TH-cam channel and (I haven’t slept yet and I forgot about daylight savings so it got me ALL fucked up! ) and now it’s 8 AM and I got shit to do today and I was kind of debating whether I should take my ADD meds. and just say fuck it.! I was thoroughly annoyed by everything in life and then like a beacon of light the channel I never knew I needed, and I wish I found sooner pops up in my feed and I found your videos! I was thinking of the early 90s Kevin and my Christian mom hated Barbie and thought it would create unrealistic expectations for me as a disabled child this didn't deter me and I lusted after all the Barbies in Toys R Us for years I broke down in the toy aisle one year and my exasperated mother relented and got me cameo barbie because she was dressed modestly I loved her @@Thedollswitness
