    Cameron McNeish is right up their with Hamish McInnes, a Scottish icon of the mountaineering fraternity.

    Great video Cameron, aye, auld age disn'y come itself, although the sticks do help a lot. I used to use one stick and was amazed at how much easier it was, it wasn't a shop bought stick, I just picked one up from a pile of cut branches lying at the side of a path.

    Another interesting watch. Loch Maree is or was an iconic loch for those that love to fish for Sea Trout. Hopefully some day the runs of fish will appear again in this part of the world but until the numbers of sea lice from Salmon farms is controlled there is little hope of that. I for one have packed away my rods probably for good and will concentrate on my eMTB for leisure from here on in and continue to watch your channel for ideas and inspiration. Thanks again for a glimpse of a part of Scotland I have yet to explore fully.

      It’s sad to hear that about the fishing. On another sad note, I have been climbing a lot in the Wester Ross and Sutherland areas, but central to my plans is the chipper in Ullapool, I found the haddock and chips are about the best I’ve had. Kind of stupid that I’m prioritising the chipper than mountains. The isolated Munros will have to wait 😢 it’s the chipper opposite from the ferry terminal to Stornaway

    Always look forward to your Videos, so much information and content, and of course the stunning scenery of the finest country on the planet. I have just returned from a three week Photographic holiday starting in the Scottish borders And then to Aberdeenshire and finally to the Cairngorms, encountering Gales and Rain along the way but nothing dampens my spirits when I am in Scotland. Take care , Best Wishes, Colin.

    My feet and hips are starting to hurt now Cameron as I age, I think you've got a few more years than me but I hope you can still enjoy the hills for a long time to come

    We did this 2 years ago in May. We walked anti clockwise around the trail and did find the descent quite challenging. The view however did make up for that. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Cameron, I always wanted to visit Loch Maree after seeing it many years ago, featured in an old Tom Weir, "Weir's Way" programme on the telly. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit there along with my wife for the first time in April 2022. We walked a little bit of the Beinn Eight trail for some beautiful views of Loch Maree. The old Caledonian pine trees there are a wonderful sight and rich asset to Scotland. Watching your film has whetted my appetite for another visit there soon. The AllPowers R600 would be a useful piece of kit and seems quite reasonably priced. Thank you for posting a most interesting film. All the best, Duncan

    Beautiful video, thanks Cameron. Don’t know why but I was put in mind of a TV show you presented years back, Wilderness Walks I think where you were accompanied by Chris Smith MP. Just before the 1997 election it must have time, like now a time when we could permit ourselves to hope.

      Very few MP’s like Chris around these days, and of course his great friend and hillwalking buddy John Smith.

    I have your Ordnance Survey video on VHS featuring Dick Balharry (that and just about every other walking/backpacking related video ever released were my salvation on rainy Sunday afternoons in my London home back then), and Dick's enthusiasm and passion just leapt from the TV into the room. Two legends in that film!

    did this walk with our springer on a snowy wintry April’s day about 11yrs ago, great wee trail when its a bit too wild for the big hills, thoroughly recommend it. another nice vlog Cameron 👍

    Driven Tesco vans many times along that road to Gairloch from Dingwall, always wanted to do this walk been on my bucket list for years. No matter how many times I have driven through there, the area always looks stunning… should be said Cameron, I’ve been told multiple times by other Tesco drivers there is absolutely fantastic coffee to be had in the village… though always shut whenever I call in! lol

      Thanks. The channel is about using a campervan as a base for hikes or bike rides and some folk are interested in the bits and pieces of campervan equipment, like power banks, or walking shoes.

      @DunkfaeOotnAbootWiUs 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CameronMcNeishOutdoors aye some folk are interested in these sort of powerbank things but they cost money and a lot of money for your ordinary punter oot there ...people forget that when they get them for nuthin ...I hope that didn't come across as just a dig at you Cameron it's the whole you tube criteria

      I try to get a balance between using 'free' products and things I buy myself. The Bluetti I refer to was bought by my own fair hand.Also try and give a fair review. I'm not under any obligation to say things are brilliant when they are not. I know you weren't having a dig, but some folk are interested ( according to a poll I did a while ago) and it's about getting a balance.

    I must do that walk Cameron, I know the spot as I've driven to Gairloch several times . I have the all powers 100 watt panel and on a sunny day it can charge pretty quick , but as you said , it doesn't take much to drop it down .

    Come to the Mourne Mountains in County Down. I think our rain is a lot softer than yours. Our rain is grand!

    • @CameronMcNeishOutdoors
      @CameronMcNeishOutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I've experienced your rain, and dried out in a lovely old pub in Newcastle run by two dear elderly ladies. I think they had given up their licence years before but still operated the pub. You had to enter via their bedroom and then jump over the bar to the customer's side.

    Hi cameron, great video and super informative. I have enjoyed the lower forest walk a few times but felt a little intimidated about the mountain section, which id really like to attempt as the views look spectacular. Can i ask if this route is doable for novices? Are map reading and compass skills required would you say

    Had planned to hike Beinn Eighe last year (June 2023), but guide ghosted me at last minute (out of Inverness) so missed Scotland all together...HUGE disappointment. Do you have a few names of reputable hiking guides (that plan and take small groups...will be hiking as a single)...? A hiking club out of or near Inverness would be ideal.
    Planning to try again September 2024. Thanks from Fort Worth, Texas!

    Do you think the all-power would be able to run a small electric heater

    • @CameronMcNeishOutdoors
      @CameronMcNeishOutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on the wattage of the heater. I thunk most are between 500 and 1500w so the Allpowers R600 would probably run it but only for a relatively short while. I think you'd probably need a power station with something like 2000W, and that would be a lkot bigger and more expensive.

      @@CameronMcNeishOutdoors thanks will take a look at the bigger one.
      Looking to run a small heater in my van.
      Just to take the chill out of the air.
      Tend to overnight in my kangoo van before hitting the hills

    We were eally enjoying this until, after only 10 minutes, it turned into a promotional video. We understand the need to promote sponsors products but this ruined the video for us.
