I still don’t understand why Pixar or anyone else denies these theories!! They usually make perfect sense and clean up so many doubts and questions that it seems stupid not to believe them. Keep theorising
You know what I think? I think PIXAR deny these stories because they want to keep fans in the dark. How many times have directors left certain stories unanswered? Because they want to keep fans guessing. I ain't buying it. A writer of Toy Story literally confirmed this before sadly passing. I for one believe him over someone who didn't have major involvement with Toy Story.

Don't give up so easily boys. "Nothing to see here" is a trope seen in many movies when shooing away crowds from THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE MOVIE. This may sound a little conspiracy theorist if me, but the story from the last video makes too much sense! (My grandmother survived polio and the only part I can't confirm is if she had to destroy her toys. I know that was done with scarlet fever, but I don't know about polio.) other than that, the story is PERFECT.

There's something you guys forgot to mention about Andy's grandmother. Mike said in his livestream on TheToyChannel that Andy showed Woody to his grandma and she remembered Woody. She told Andy that as long as he has Woody, his dad will always be with him. That explains why Andy was so happy. I know we never saw the grandmother but I have a theory that she was dying and Andy's mom took care of her. After her death, Andy's mom decided to sell the house and move.

My name is Edgar and lately a HUGE question has been bugging me. And I'll get straight to it...
Yesterday I was watching Monsters University for the billionth time and I thought of something, when James P. Sullivan barges in to Mr Knights lesson and gives a scare that 'covers the qualities of a scare up he is asked who he is and he says he is a Sullivan. For some reason this creates a huge amount of fuss on the matter and Mr Knight asks something like this : " Sullivan? As in Bill Sullivan???" to which he replies: " Yep his my dad." And I think that this creates a LOT of questions like: who really was Bill Sullivan? Was he a scarer? Was he one the founders MU? Did he break any scare records? Who was HIS dad? How important was he? Is he still alive? Did he work at monsters inc? What did he do to be so important? And so many more questions. I'm a huge fan to the channel and would love if you could make a video on this matter. Please please please Please please please.

What if Bo peep was also one of Andy Sr's toys. Them reuniting could trigger them to go into flash back prequel mode and tell the other toys how they became Andy Jr's toys.
If he wanted to dispute the theory of Andy's dad, then he should have given us some information that refutes it. Mike Mozart has no reason to lie. I love Andrew Stanton, and the movies he has created. That being said, that did not give him the right to be a bit of a jerk about a theory that was very important to us die-hard pixar fans. I still believe the Andy's dad theory and until there is information out that makes it untrue, I will continue to do so. Maybe a small detail is wrong, but that does not mean he needed to write off the entire idea. Thanks guys for the amazing videos!

It's a nice theory but it seemed to have some holes. If your dad died when you were that young, and left you that toy, there's no way you would part with it, even as a teenager. It would just be too difficult. Sure, you might gift the rest of them, but that 1 doll, the only doll like it in the world, there's no way. Not only would it be worth an absolute fortune, Andy would keep it to show his children.
OddRevelation remember that Andy actually hesitated to give it away at first. You could see the look in his face, he felt sad. And woody wasn't supposed to be there in the first place. He's supposed to be locked up in the attic and not given away.

As for Andy's dad theory, I think they denied it immediately because Toy Story 4 is probably going to talk about Andy's dad and the story is different than this theory, therefore they don't want people to hate on the movie when it comes out. TBT Lego Guy He claims he was there and he might have been considering that Pete Docter, another one of the original Brains Trust guys at Pixar and the director of Monsters Inc., Inside Out and Up, frequents the cafe Mike and Joe spoke at and could have easily recommended it to Joe, Andrew and John Lasseter but Andrew failed to clarify if he was referring to the conversation before Toy Story 1 or the one after Toy Story 2 so it could still have hope.

The backstory of Woody and Andy's dad came from one of the original brain trust members, giving it significantly more credibility than any simple fan theory, I think Andrew Stanton can fuck right off. If that story isn't true, then what IS the real story? If him and his colleagues aren't going to tell us, then he has no business shooting down the story that came from the mouth of one of their own. If they aren't telling us because they never thought of the back story, and would therefore have to make one up before they can tell us, and don't feel like doing that, then why don't they just say "okay, that one everyone's already believing, that's it, that's the real one, I'm clocking out early today"? Bottom line, if it's not true, tell us what is!

You're forgetting one thing - there may not be a back story to give. My guess, Andrew (one of the 4 writers for Toy Story) was so busy writing the story (to meet Disney's deadlines) that they wouldn't have time to craft a back story. They were young, excited and wrote what they had time for (at least that's my guess). Also - he replied on Twitter so 140 characters doesn't allow a large space for him to reply. If Mike was lying, I'd be miffed as well and call him out - especially since that tweet was coming from someone who was so entrenched in the original story and worked alongside Joe so closely.

Mentioning the book "The Little House" actually makes a puzzle piece from my childhood click into place. That picture from the book looks extremely similar to the house in Stuart Little.
When my mom was watching the scene where Stuart's parents bring him home for the first time, she saw The Little House and said "oh they never sold." Which made no sense to me as a kid and she didn't want to have to explain while we were watching the movie but later she said something about "well obviously the city was built up around the house and they didn't sell or move so it looks out of place." She didn't mention a book BUT (now I'm thinking like you guys) she had the measles when she was a child. She was so sick she actually went deaf in her left ear which sucks. But maybe she was read to while she was super sick and maybe she remembered that picture of The Little House. Also that line "every Little in the world can find the Little House" has always struck me as weird cuz they don't ever explain it in the movie and that seemed familiar to her too? Unno and I'm not interested enough to do any actual digging. I have my theory tho and I'm sticking to it!

Because even though the Disney corporation has a fetish for killing off parental figures, they also know a thing or two about discretion. I mean, Disney parents aren't usually killed off in such a real and tragic way. The story of Andy Sr. is only meant to give the central characters more depth. I just doubt Disney wants us to think about one of their characters having such a miserable past.

Yes, they definitely replied to it before. Pete Docter said it was fun, but false and Ed Catmull said there is no way they could have thought about all of that years ago and weaved it all together like that. I talked to Jon Negroni at Pixar's studio about it and he even admits that it's just a story that he made up.
Regarding the other - I replied to an earlier comment and said that Andrew Stanton replied with a Tweet...140 character, so it will sound "short" no matter what he says. Also, I'd be curt too if someone was claiming this to be true if it weren't. Andrew is one of the original writers and creators of Toy Story and worked alongside Joe Ranft for years...Mike talked to Joe a handful of times in his life. I'd be pretty miffed if someone was claiming this was the prequel to Toy Story if I wrote it as well (and knew it wasn't true).

RachRedbird The rest of the gang weren't promos because the prospector sat on the shelf of the store waiting to be bought. Its kinda wierd that the company put all the side characters in the store but made you collect box tops to get Woody. That was probably frustrating for those kids.

Maybe the gang was produced first specifically to highlight the absence and exclusivity of Woody for the promotion. It's easier to start a collect 'em all if some are widely available. If you had 3/4, you're almost to a full set already, and keeping the main character locked away creates demand. "I got the other toys, but where's Woody? MOM I NEED 30 CEREAL BOXES!"
I can't believe I have to do this. IT IS A PIXAR FAMILY TREE! I think (theory so not completely real) that Al married a women called Mrs Sherman, who worked in The Marine Institute (from Finding Dory). Then the picture of Darla on the wall would mean that Darla would be Al's daughter. And Mrs Sherman has a brother called Philip who works at a dentist in Australia. Maybe Al also married to another woman and had a son called Sid. To the Incredibles, Violet had a daughter called Boo/Witch from Brave. The Witch from Brave mentored Merida, who I am predicting to be an ancestor of Linguni from Ratatouille (due to Physical features). Wooooo done!
Rad Circles the only physical similarity between Linguini and Merida is that they are white and have red hair. It's not even the same color of red hair, either, Merida's is titian and Linguini's is auburn. They have completely different facial structures, eye colors, noses, and builds. Even their complexions are different, there is literally nothing physically similar about them.
PineapplePhone it's not impossible that Merida or her brothers are Linguini's ancestors. Linguini could look more like his mom and Gusto (his dad) looks a lot like Merida's dad minus the red hair.
My favourite easter egg is that the decaying ship Ariel hides in, in the Little Mermaid, is the same ship that sunk in Frozen with their parents on board.

Isn't the story of Andy's dad the fact that he didn't have one since it was too expensive to create another human character? Explaining how all the humans look so similar to Andy

That's what they claimed but here's the thing why would they include Molly if it really was? Her mere exstinace is why we question it. isn't a parent more important then a baby. If Molly hadn't been included no one would think about it.
Ok, I think it is important to understand the difference between the canonical reasons for an event, and the meta reason for an event.
The canon is what actually happened WITHIN the story, whereas the meta reason is why the author made the story that way, OUTSIDE it. This is why meta-stories, stories about the act of telling stories and often the act of telling its own story, can get really confusing because this line is blurred. However, in most stories, there is a very clear distinctions (called the fourth wall because it comes from theater, and is the origin of "breaking the fourth wall")
So presuming you aren't writing a meta-story, everything has a canonical reason and a meta reason.
The meta reason might be that did not have the budget to animate a second-adult, however that does not explain what happened to his father within the story itself, the canonical reason.

Exactly, look at Lord of the Rings. The meta reason they didn't take the Eagles to Mordor is because the Eagles were a huge Deus ex machina, and Tolkien didn't want to use them to advance the plot in a significant way. The canonical reason is that, A: The Eagles were about the same as Miar on the power scale and would've been very easily corrupted by the ring, and B: The Eagles were so massive that Sauron would've looked at them, seen the ring, and immediately cowed whoever possessed it. The whole reason nobody came under Sauron's control in the book was because Sauron never knew where the ring was or what was being done with it until Frodo finally falls to it and tries to claim it for himself.

Why would they need to? It's literally in the same timeframe as Toy Story...its not a whole new era. The story takes place at the very MOST 50 years before Toy Story.
VGM Studios, it would still help connect toy story to the story before it on the time line.

So a problem I have:
One, Andy Sr grew up in the house in Toy Story 1, and the house in Toy Story 2 is the house Andy Sr lived in with his family until he had to live with his parents whilst he was dying. I think i remember the last video stating that these houses were in two different cities. Now since Al's Toy Barn is the actual barn from his family's farm which had the land around it sold, why is his barn in the same city that Andy Sr moved to with his family? If Andy Snr's parents worked for Al's dad then surely they would also live in the city that Al himself lives in?
I guess you could say that they moved in their retirement, but this contradicts both the decoration of the house, with only pictures of Andy Sr as a child, and none of Andy Jr etc, but would also negate the idea that Andy Sr gave Andy Jr the key and told him to find the box that had Woody, Slinky, and Mr Potato head inside.
So essentially the last video said that Andy Jnrs granddad worked for Al's dad in the original town, and that the house in Toy Story 2 & 3 is in Seattle (I think, not sure) and is where Andy Snr moved when he married Andy Jnrs mom. Since Al is at that house in TS2 you can assume he lives in Seattle, but since his barn, which this video states never moved but had a city built around it, also appears it indicates that they live in the same city as in TS1. However the initial Andy origin story video denies this.

this makes so much sense, i live in a small town in washington near the town of sunnyside. and since andy's parents had moved to seattle it makes a bit more sense. central washington is pretty rural and there are a lot of large farms
guys, supercarlinbrothers was mentioned in a dutch newspaper with the story about andy's dad. but they beleved that mike mozart made it all just up.

If Andy's mom is Emily does that mean she could be Emma Jean? Emma can be her nickname. Since Emma Jean and Carl were love interests that could be before Emily had Andy and this will mean in toy story Carl and Ellie is around the same age as Emily and the post card in toy story could be the post card before Emily sends it to Carl and Ellie. Which explains why it's in toy story.
Though Pixar insists her first name is Jennifer Emily and Emma Jean could possibly be the same person. Emily is definitely not just a random person who is never to be heard from and/or spoken of again.

Because the woody we know doesn't who he was or remember him being used for the cartoon, that would mean there was a woody made before production and used for the T.V show.
The Woody used for Woody's round up was a puppet and puppets in toy story world don't have same conciusnes that toys display.
Can anybody else imagine little spoiled Al as Violet from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory/Willie Wonka" when he doesn't get Woody. Like, he demands that his dad get the toy, at all costs. No? Just me?
This is the most satisfying theory I've ever seen on this channel! I 100% believe it, but also think the writer who came up with these back stories didn't share them with the other writers at early Pixar. Besides, if this was something Mike Mozart came up with himself, why wouldn't he want to take credit for it? It's so comprehensive, touching, and brilliant.
