Andy comes back as a father. Perhaps of a son that is similar to how Andy was in the first two films. That premise alone justifies a fifth film.

There's this theory(headcanon? I think) on the internet that Sid grows up knowing that toys are sentinent (Idunno how you spell it), and whenever he finds an injured toy (which he does quite a lot with his garbageman job) he fixes them and gives them away to be played with, and I'd love it if that was in Toy Story 5 just like how once that old man fixed Woody. I would also love the line "hello old friend" from him if he finds Woody

Due I want Sid to not only come back but have a speaking line as well. Like Woody reunites with Buzz and they conclude that Bonnies at camp or something but they have no ride to Andys old childhood home and then Sid the trash man comes has his possible converstaion with Bonnies mom overheard and Woodys like i got a crazy idea and shows himself to Sid and Sid reacts but agrees to take Woody to the house cuz he changed Sid for the better and maybe the gang meets some toys that Sid rescued along the way being his awesome self.
I want more of this!! I want the sentience of toys to be revealed to the world!!

I'd watch it bcuz it'd show the character woody is based off and prob give us a glimpse of the prospectors character and I definitely think he's a corrupt toy based on a man led by greed and jealousy of woody. We'd get to c gunless law and maybe if his deputy was more dear to his heart in the show woody nvr even know about. I mean, Jessie is clearly attracted to a decisive leader type

avThere is an article out there where a toy maker who was a consultant for toy story was interviewed and he actually provided the story for Andy's dad. If I can locate it I'll link it as well. But there is a story and when I read it, it made so much sense it was scary.

The biggest problem with lightyear is the fact they ignored the previous cannon characters of star comand cause if they would've made it tie into the classic masterpiece of a animated seris that movie would've printed money ngl
My own idea:
Wood and Bo doing the usual carnival thing, but Woody is starting to feel a bit sad seeing all these toys go with kids and he misses being a child’s toy.
At a game booth helping toys get to kids, he hears someone calling out for Andy. He looks and recognizes adult Andy with his son (Andy Jr Jr I guess lol) and Woody is immediately brought back to all these old feelings and he goes to try to be with them, with Bo calling out to him to come back.
He freezes up on the ground in front of them and the son notices, picking him up and pulling the string “there’s a snake in my boot!”
Adult Andy immediately recognizes woody and they take him home.
Bo goes after him.
Meanwhile, Bonnie is at that age where she’s starting to grow out of playing with toys, so throwback to Toy Story 2: Yard sale!
Toys are worried, but Buzz is like “Don’t worry guys, we’ve survived these before” but uh oh, they’re ALL put for sale. And they’re all bought by some random lady. They’re taken in a car and go. When they arrive to a random room, they’re all put in a box and wrapped up. (Maybe a moment of Jesse freaking out) and they all try to come up with plans to escape the box, but can’t bc they’re wrapped up. It’d be too obvious if they escaped.
Meanwhile, Woody meets a new gang of toys from Andy Jr’s room. Not very many toys, but nice. They remind him of the old gang. And then he meets the ‘toy in charge’ that reminds him of how he used to be: (plot twist, it’s Lotso and he’s changed for the better) or just another random toy. While woodys exploring the room he’s in, he noticed that the wall paint is peeling in the corner. He’s messing with it just while he’s thinking and he realizes that under the paint is the old cloud wallpaper from Andy’s original room. He realizes they’re in the same room, same house that his Andy grew up in and is filled with nostalgia.
Just then, other toys announce there’s an intruder, and they find Bo. Woody deescalates the situation and asks Bo how she found him (she explains) blah blah blah and asks him to come back, but Woody says that seeing them must’ve been fate, maybe he’s meant to stay with Andy, well, Andy Jr now. Bo tries to remind him what their new purpose is, that they can do stuff for other toys.
Woody’s hesitant about it, and when he’s about to make the decision to go, Lotso/new toy invites them to stay for at least one more day, because tomorrow is a big day for Andy Jr. (It’s his birthday)
Woody remembers the old toy spying operations they used to do whenever Andy got new toys, and Lotso/new toy says they do the same thing.
Woody tells Bo, “Let’s help them, for old times sake?” And Bo agrees.
The next day, their spy operation starts. They send Woody out to do the spying on Andy Jr opening his birthday presents and that’s when he sees them opening up the box that’s full of the old Gang! He spots Bonnies toys, Mr/Mrs Potato head, Rex, Slinky, Hamm, Jessie then Buzz. He stops communicating on the radio with the team as he slowly realizes it’s them and that they’re all together again. (Keep in mind, Woody hasn’t seen them in YEARS )
He goes back to the room fast after discovering Andy Jr is about to bring his toys up.
He quickly tells Bo and the New Gang who’s down there. No doesn’t believe him at first, but then they hear Andy Jr approaching. They all freeze/take cover. Andy Jr drops off his boxes of presents on his bed and goes back downstairs for cake.
It’s silent… then slowly, Woody steps out and calls out.
“…Buzz..?”
And slowly but surely, Buzz looked over the edge of the box and sees Woody.
“woody?”
“Woody?!” Jessie quickly pops out, other toys following. The old gang sees him and Bo and they all jump out, running to him and hugging the two.
They ask how the heck they got there, and Buzz says it was a yard sale, the lady that must have bought them was Andy Jr’s mom.
Then they see Lotso/New toy (if it’s Lotso, there can be a nice comedic moment where they all get in a fighting stance) but woody reassured them it’s okay, and he tells them this is Andy’s old room/house.
And he looks to Bo and says this is where they’re meant to be now. There’s a reason why we’re all together again.
Bo gives in and agrees to stay.
They all greet each other (old gang/new gang) and it fades out into the credits with “You Got A Friend In Me” playing with pictures taken of Andy Jr, Andy and Mom all playing with the toys with each other. And it ends on a shot of Andy Jr with Andy, both holding Woody and wearing the old Jessie hat OR!!! A shot of the underside of Woody’s boot with ‘andy Jr’ written on it
Fun post credit scene where the bunny/duck from Toy Story 4 are now in charge of giving toys out at the carnival.
But then realize there’s no more toys to give out to the last kid, and they give themselves up and the kid ends up taking them to Sunnyside, where we get an update on Barbie & Ken!
(Edit: I FORGOT WOODY DOESNT HAVE HIS VOICE BOX ANYMORE. Toy Story 4 wasn’t my favorite so I kinda forgot most of it)

I mean what’s the story or conflict though? They just all get brought to Andy’s house and don’t have to overcome anything. No character arcs, no story conflicts, etc.
@@DaddyLogan420 There doesn’t need to be any big villain or anything. It can all be personal/internal conflicts. I just have a little summary of the flow at the top of my head at like 3am. I wasn’t really focusing on that. I mean sorta. 1. If Jessie goes in a box, she has to deal with that trauma. 2. They have to go through the yard sale thing again. It was a big deal in Toy Story 2, so maybe they all try to find a way to escape the yard sale but they can’t? 3. Bo’s going on her own adventure to follow Woody. She’d probably have the most physical obstacles, I just summarized it as her going after him. 4. Maybe Woody’s paranoid of Lotso when he meets him, because obviously, who wouldn’t. So he has to deal with that. He would probably deal with internal conflicts the most. 5. Maybe there’s a new dog too in this movie and for some reason it just really wants to use Woody as a chew toy. That’s something to avoid now.
Anything could be thought up of if there needs to be. I’m just some random person on the Internet. Disney could figure it out or anyone else. :)
I'd guess that Andy's dad didn't buy Woody to play with as a toy. He, like Al, wanted Woody as a collector's item. That's why Andy didn't get Woody until after his father's death. While the father was alive, he would have kept Woody protected away from little Andy (probably up on a shelf where Andy could look at him longingly). When Andy's father dies around the time of the little sister's birth, though, Andy's mom finally just gives it to Andy when going through her husband's things, because she doesn't care about the collectible value and just knows her son wants the toy.
This would also explain why Woody wouldn't have memories of that time, if toys awaken by imagination.
Woody was given to Andy's dad after a promotion (of which he was supposed to be the prize) was cancelled. J made a video talking about that 5 years ago. It's called Toy Story Zero: The True Story Of Andy's Dad & Woody's Origin (ft. Mike Mozart)

So towards the end of the video … around the 14:00 minute mark … is it possible Woody doesn’t remember anything because of Andy’s dad dying ?? Like Woody lost his memory because his original owner died so Woody lost all his memory ??
Honestly, if the upcoming movie is actually going to be about this, I would totally watch it.
Watched Toy Story since I was 4, I'm 28 with a kid and if Woody ended up with Andy's son or daughter, I'd breakdown with tears of pure nostalgia and joy. I genuinely hope this is what happens. Great video guys. 👍

You know what I think would be EXTREMELY interesting to see in Toy Story 5 (ON TOP of FINALLY seeing Woody’s backstory since his inception in the late 1950s)? A MODERN in-universe revival of Woody’s Roundup in the present day! 🤠
I mean, think about it! Regardless of Bonnie’s “interest” in Woody at least 5-7 years after Toy Story 4, a modern in-universe revival of Woody’s Roundup would result in lots of present-day children (both in the movie AND in real life) buying their own newer Woody dolls, as well as Woody’s face being plastered all over the Toy Story world for everyone to see! In turn, this would ultimately result in Andy (regardless of where he is in life) wondering how his old Woody doll is doing with Bonnie, Bonnie potentially fighting the temptation to replace Woody with a new Woody doll (if she even still cares about Andy’s Woody doll after losing him), Buzz and the gang most likely preparing to conduct a NEAR-IMPOSSIBLE COUNTRY-WIDE search to bring the Woody know and love home (no matter what it takes)……………………………………… And after at least 5 years of being lost toy with Bo Peep and their crew of lost toys, OUR Sheriff Woody being FORCED to see “himself”, in the form of hundreds of newer Woody dolls, bringing joy to dozens of kids. Personally, I think an in-universe global awareness spike in Woody’s popularity would be just the thing to remind OUR Woody (whom we’ve all loved since 1995) that being there for your kid is important. That and it’s a legitimate question if Woody will react with fear and dread at the thought of Bonnie potentially replacing him, just like Lotso had been. Whether or not Stinky Pete will also return (in the form of a NEW friendly doll based on the revival) is up to you!
I personally think an in-universe modern revival of Woody’s Roundup would be REALLY interesting for Toy Story 5, as it would allow the movie to preach new life lessons through Woody about remembering why loyalty is so important, as well as how everyone in the world is unique in the eyes of those who REALLY love you, even in a giant crowd of look-alikes (and this applies to both toys and their kids). To put the moral I’m referring to into simpler words………………. In the eyes of the world, you may be one person (one Sheriff Woody doll among hundreds of newer ones), but in the eyes of one person (Andy, Bonnie, Buzz, and the other toys), you may very well be the entire world.
What do you think of this premise?
That would be awesome. A little ohmage to the buzz situation in two but Woody has to prove hes The Woody from the rest would be a nice scene.

That and UNLIKE how Incredibles 2 kind of squandered an opportunity to inform the general public why superheroes are such a BIG DEAL OF IMPORTANCE nowadays (especially with the amount of superhero movies in 2018 and 2019), I DO think a Woody's Roundup revival would be a GREAT OPPORTUNITY for Disney and Pixar to explain EXACTLY why reboots, revivals, and sequels are SUCH A BIG DEAL OF IMPORTANCE TO THEM (not that I expect them to even TRY doing this at all, but hey, I can dream).
It would make a lot of sense for one of us.

Truth be told, there's a lot of Story potential on how can this version of Toy Story 5 can possibly work.
If Woody realizes he made the wrong choice and tried to redeem himself, it would be worth it

It's way too late but a fun alternate toy story 2 or 3 could have been the reveal of a favorite toy before Woody, back for vengeance. It could be a great villain, being some abstract baby toy that has become mangled due to neglect, like a an old FNAF animatronic. How interesting would it be to see Woody have to come to terms with the fact he himself replaced another toy and attempt to help that toy learn the lesson he has from the first movie.

I've always thought the favorite before Woody was Mr. Potato Head. He was suspiciously antagonistic to Woody in the first movie.
This also works with the idea in this video. Woody meets the rest of the gang, slinky mentions another toy, finds toy extremely broken (old favourite) woody comes to terms, hears about someone who fixes toys and is crazy saying they are actually alive. Go to Davis old house, Sid still lives on that street, go to old house, Andy is there, maybe even with his own kid, the new kid finds Woody. Ends with "Reach for the sky"
kind of full circle there with TS1 being Woody coming to terms with not always being the favourite toy and this plot being him accepting that other toys had to accept that too.
Considering traveling carnivals are starting to die out Woody would need a new home anyway. I think there are only a couple carnivals left which is a shame as they were a huge part of my childhood and I have great memories.
It's possible that Toy Story 5 is where Andy's mom and dad were kids when they got Woody and Jesse at the beginning and by the end, the toys DO end up as heirlooms, thereby living forever.

So It's Totally NOT Farfetched.
I was literally thinking the same thing about a way they could do Toy Story 5, Before they even announced it! There’s a good 35+ years between 1957 and 1995 which leaves a Huge gap they could fill! About Andy’s dad though, sadly a theory Pixar has turned down, but it leaves us with still the question of well then how else could Andy have gotten Woody? I actually theorized that Woody, after the show was cancelled, ended up at a daycare (not one as nice as Sunnyside). Through the years of being there, forgetting his tv show, and longing for an owner of his own, he eventually finds Andy through the daycare and becomes Andy’s toy. Not only can it fit the timeline and the few possible places Woody could have been, but Woody himself says, “Let’s just keep this in perspective” when talking about Sunnyside, after he defines daycares as, “a sad, lonely place, for washed up old toys who have no owners.” What perspective is he talking about and why does he define daycares as sad and lonely? Unless, he’s been to one before.
I hope somebody from the Disney company comes and finds this video. Because this is actually a great Story. Disney should take notes

The major problem I had with Lightyear was that it was supposed to be the movie that made Andy obsessed with Buzz Lightyear, and you cannot convince me a child that age actually liked that movie. It would have been nice if they had just made a campy 90s/00s space adventure film that followed the lore introduced in Toy Story 1 and 2.
Some facts. That being said, the Cat is the actual Star of the entire show.
I like that theory. But also. I can see Bonnie is grown up now and no longer plays with her toys. She hears about Andy expecting a baby and plans to give him the toys during his wife's baby shower. Buzz hears too and develops the plan to find woody again. And that is how the toys reunite.

Or, there’s this SPECTACULAR fanfic about Toy Story called Toy Size that takes place between 2 & 3 that would make an AMAZING movie!!!!
Without giving away the story, I’ll say that it was touching reading about Woody, Andy and some of the other toys, going on an adventure to get back home. Yes, it’s similar the Toy Story 2 we already have, but it ups the stakes and involves other kids.
While it would be the darkest Toy Story to date, it is changeable to make it lighter and more in tone with the other movies.

I have a theory , Andy is feeling nostalgic and wants to rebuy his childhood toys while woody is in the house he sees Andy on eBay trying to buy woody back so woody rings the door bell and Andy gets up to open the door and there he sees his old buddy woody and the rest of the gang and it’s a sappy whole full story moment .
I think that they should do something similar the gotg3 with the main story in present day but periodically they cut to flashbacks of woodys backstory and maybe show Andy’s dad
They had what felt like the perfect ending in 3. I personally didn’t think the 4th one was necessary much less a 5th. I didn’t watch the 4th one and don’t plan to watch this one either. But your premise of Woody coming back for Andy’s kids is still sweet.
You actually liked it, I liked 4 cuz we saw bo peep and they ending with “ to infinity and beyond” the whole series is just woodys stories and the problems he faces. Imo 3 felt like a meh ending

I'm just baffled as to why Disney/Pixar hasn't snagged you two up to replace all of the writers. I really want to see this movie.
Literally, the fulfillment of the film theory speculating that the toys would rebel against humanity in some way. Continuing where bo peep left off.
I’d love to see Sox in this next movie and how Buzz and the toys react to it like Buzz being like “Oh, Sox, glad to finally see you as a toy” while everyone is just like “Buzz has a pet robot cat?!” but I swear if they make this seem like an actual ending like 3 and 4 only to make a Toy Story 6 I’m not sure how much more I could take from Disney

In my opinion the 4th movie already didn't need to exist the 3rd film ended perfectly. As long as Toy Story sequels continue to make money they'll probably keep making sequels at this point Toy Story is Pixar's Ice Age a franchise that should've stopped at the 3rd entry.
In my opinion however if Disney & Pixar are really that desperate for another animated hit film that they feel the need to milk Toy Story even more I think at this point Toy Story 5 should focus on a new cast of characters entirely.
Maybe Toy Story 5 will be about kids are not longer playing with toys and are on devices.

There was an article I read about a month or so ago that was an interview of a toy maker who was the consultant for the original movie ToyStory. He actually gave you the backstory for Woody/Andy's dad. Woody is a rare toy that Andy's dad won from the cereal box company that sponsored the woody round up series that later was canceled due to "space toys". This is why woody is so rare and valuable in the 2nd movie. The first movie takes place in Andy's dad's family home. This is why they're moving. Andy's dad suffered from post polio syndrome and died. Woody was one of the things he was able to keep after he got diagnosed because he hid him in the attic before they burned all of his belongings. (They burn all of your possessions when diagnosed with polio). Andy found woody in the attic and if you pay attention in the second movie you can hear his mom say its "an old family toy". So if there is a movie about it- it wouldn't do too much to add to this story.

My prediction for TS5 We leave off in the same amusement park some years later Woody see’s a little girl crying in the corner cause she’s lost Her Family Woody then runs to her cuz “ she looks like Andy” Woody also helps The little girl find her family she find her dad then woody finds out that that’s Andy’s daughter.
Andy’s daughter (that let’s call Zoey) then takes woody home with them.
Also Teen Bonnie is Zoey’s babysitter and she loves bonnie’s toys so of course bonnie give them to her (so there the Gangs back together again ❤) so that’s my production for TS5 I want this as the new movie even though it’s probably not but I do think the theory in the video was very good and I’m pretty sure that will be the plot of the movie❤ I just want to see Andy again ❤

My theory : Andys father gave Andy woodie before he passed away and thats why woody is his favourite toy.
I don’t know if Woody will be in it all. 1-4 seems like the Woody saga. 4 seems to be the end of Woodys story, what with him leaving, but we also have buzz starting to take up his position as the leader of the toys. So maybe it will be all about buzz and him being alone without woody to guide him

I think toy story 5 will be about what happed to everyone, like if Sid is the garbage man toy story 3, or Gaby Gaby and her owner, and can be an epilogue to all the characters.
The movie should be about Andy going on a journey to search for Woody after finding out Bonnie lost him on a family trip, the plot starts when Andy comes homr from college to check if Bonnie kept her promise and the movie could end at a flashforward to Andy's kids playing with the toys under his supervision.

I have come up with a perfect plot for Toy Story 5

PLOT:
At the beginning, it parallels between playtime at bonnies, and her having Jessie rounding up all the toys, and Woody finding lost toys.
Next it’s five years later, and bonnie is 11. Her mom is making her give away toys, and the first to go are trixie, dolly, and buttercup.
Buzz makes it a mission to go and rescue them.
Meanwhile on Woody’s side, the fair has come back to town, and they are rescuing toys from the road, the trash, and other places. A superhero toy says her friend GI Jack is stuck in the school, so Woody, Bo, Duckie, Bunny, and Duke make it a mission to go find him.
Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, Rex, Slink, Mr. Potato Head, and Hamm arrive at the school looking for their friends, and find them in the 5/6 year old room. They get caught and get put away in the preschool room.
Woody, Bo, Duckie, Bunny, and Duke arrive at school just in time to see their friends being taken to the room. They get caught and are taken to the 3-4 year old room. Those broken toys acknowlege them and give their best wishes because once playtime begins, it’s downhill, especially for Bo being glass.
Buzz and the gang try to find away to escape but can’t, until GI Jack wants to help them escape. They try to escape, but Lots-o shows up and has them locked away. Woody and Bo see this and ask the other toys to aid them.
The other tattered, destroyed toys don’t believe they can, so woody sings to try to cheer him up. Bo, Ducky, Bunny, and Duke are shocked and joke because Woody has never done that before. He inspires them to all help free their friends.
Locked away, the gang tries to free themselves to no luck. Race Car, Building Blocks, Lego Man, GI Jack, Stick Man, Lincoln Logs, and Wiz the Wizard toy try to help them escape.
Woody and the other toys leave their room, and make it out in time to help the other toys free buzz and friends. As they are escaping, Lots-o finds them and tries to lock them in.
Woody and Buzz tell him he won’t trap them again. They say there is a little girl named Bonnie who would love to have him, or Woody is looking for lost toys who kids would love to have. Lots-o says he has given up on kids love, and has them locked in a plastic box.
Later that night, Mrs. Potato Head, Barbie, Ken, Mr. Pricklepants, Forky and Gabby Gabby show up to help. They free the other toys and they all escape. Lots-o tries one last time to trap them, but they all escape, throwing Lots-o in the trash.
They hurry back to Bonnie’s house. They see Bonnie wasn’t worried thanks to her new electronics. Bonnie’s mom is surprised to see the toys, thinking she donated them. She asks Bonnie again what she wants to do with them, and Bonnie says she has the perfect idea.
At the end, Bonnie gives her toys back to Andy for his daughter to have, showing how fast kids get tired of toys these days thanks to electronics.
Andy holds his toys, happy to have them back.
He holds Woody in his arms and says "Welcome back, partner"
And I can imagine Al McWhiggin being a part of this one too.
I feel like instead of a fifth Toy Story movie, a Lightyear movie for Woody in the style of westerns like Tombstone and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly would a good movie
My theory is that Toy Story 5 will be about Andy in college, and some other person has a toy in their dorm room. The toy... comes alive. And Andy sees it! He would then get curious if His toys were ever alive, and then he goes a hunt to track down his toys for a final closure with the playthings of his childhood.

The plot and story for Toy Story 5:
Woody becomes so sentient that he ends up realizing he's a movie character. He ends up finding out about the Monster world and their time travel technology ( The Doors) and gathers up as many Pixar characters as he possible can. He doesn't care how long it takes. He gathers them, eventually finding a portal to the real world where he finds Pixar Studios, and sleighs his tormentors, aka, Jim Morris, Aka the main man at Pixar. Before he finishes off Jim, Woody is told of the first Toy Story movie. He finds out about John Lassetter. He, along with the other Pixar gang gathers around the home of Lassetter. Lassetter comes to the door. As the door opens, we get a close up of Woody smiling. Fade to black, we hear a scream.....

The problem with Lightyear WASN'T that we were expecting Woody, Potato Head, Rex, etc... The problem was that it didn't feel like Buzz, the writing was kinda mid, and it was overall inconsistent with pre-established information we know from Toy Story.
Toy Story 5 might be the movie to turn the franchise from being about Woody Pride to the Toy Stories franchise where any toy character in that world can have a movie based around them. Sort of the Disney Planes of the Toy Story Franchise, set in the same world but very adjacent to the main characters that we’ve fallen in love with.
I'm STILL waiting for them to make a movie or show where an actual _human_ discovers that the Toys are alive. The closest we got was Sid, but there wasn't a lot of toy-to-human communication, just threats and scaring the pants off of him. I want to see the dynamic between a toy and a human actually _talking_ to each other.
Before the video I was skeptical on how they could make a good ending to 5.
After the video I’m convinced they have to make 5 and this is a great plot.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I love Toy Story 4. I think it’s a really beautiful story of growing into your own and becoming independent and moving on to have a fulfilling life, even though that might mean leaving behind people you love. Plus I think Toy Story 4 is a really underrated love story. But I have no idea what to expect from a Toy Story 5.

Here’s a wild idea! Let’s say the 5th movie is about woodys adventures with Bo and time has past and they gained new friends. Then midway in the movie they are on a play ground and a toddler picks up woody and plays with him. Parents don’t notice and toddler brings woody home. Child’s room is heavily themed to cowboys. Woody meets that child’s toys and he feels like he belongs again.near the end the father sees woody and says I used to have a woody doll when I was younger then looks at the boot at scraps away the old paint to reveal Andy’s name and camera pans up to fathers face and father reacts by saying woody is that you. 😢😢😢😢
Personally, I would just be happy if they brought back all of the older toys to try and find Andy buzz or Woody and I mean the old toys such as Wendy RC, Rocky Gibraltar, the rest of the green on me then hockey puck, Troy Cuz, Roley Poley clown every last one Or it could just be a prequel

The ending of Toy Story 4 was perfect! I'm tired of repeating this over and over, Woody was in denial that he was with Bonnie, Woody loves Andy more than anything and when Andy grew up and left something in Woody's desire to be a toy was lost, so Woody also grew up and decided to leave and live his own life with Boo Peep.
Pixar managed to excite me in the fourth film and I'm sure and hope that it will happen in the fifth film as well, did we even think about an option that after we saw the end of Woody's story in the 4th, maybe Woody won't be in the film at all and we'll see the end of the story of Buzz and the rest of the gang in the fifth film?

The problem with Light-year wasn't that Potato head or Rex were missing, and saying they "expected too much of the audience" is very patronizing and frankly insulting. The problem was there was already established lore that they completely ignored, character designs and lore was changed, (like Zerg) and telling us that this is the movie the Buzz and Zerg toys were based on? They looked nothing like they did in Light-year. Also Zerg was no longer Buzz's father... There were no notable alien worlds, we expected them to visit different planets and galaxies like in the Buzz Lightyear series, but it was a very overly realistic sci-fi movie in a Buzz Lightyear skin, there was not a lot of fantasy elements to it. Just mostly humans and robots, no aliens and a plot that's very poorly executed. We were expecting a fun Star Wars type movie but instead it was more of an interstellar or 2001 Space Odyssey style movie. Honestly I don't think the crew was thinking about making a fun space movie for kids, they made it for young adults and preyed on nostalgia.
Controversial moment here but given the circumstances of what happened to Woody and the bastardisation of the 3rd ending due to TS 4’s existence, I think Woody was better off going to the museum with the Round Up Gang.
I really want the 5th film to have Buzz be the other Buzz from Toy Story 2. I mean We saw Zurg was taken to the daycare center in 3 with no Buzz #2 around, and it makes you wonder what and where he was doing ever since then. And it would make sense if he became a lost toy after the second film living his own adventure. That way you'd still get Buzz Lightyear tagging along with Woody that wouldn't interfere or contradict the ending of the 4th film.
i really LOVED the idea of Woody being Andy's son's at the end. Also there can be a lot of detils in between this adventure to make it even better such as Woody talking to Andy and kind of comforting him as he's his dad.
Honestly, despite how unnecessary Toy Story 5 really is, I'm partially excited for this upcoming movie/film, even though it definitely won't be anywhere near as good as Toy Stories 1-3 (it'll actually be worse than the trilogy).

What if _Woody's Roundup_ got rebooted, and suddenly Woody is famous again? Canonically, it's, what, 50, 60 years since the original? Sounds about the right time-frame for a rehash.

Sorry, but Toy Story ended in Toy Story 3 for me. The 4th one was ok and completely unnecessary, and Lightyear was bad. If they make a Toy Story 5, I will not watch it or buy anything for it. That movie is just another cash grab by Dysney since people are getting burned out of the marvel movies.
Lightyear was definitely decent but it didn't live up to its true potential!!! I think they could of done an entire trilogy with the first being all about buzz and his rise in star command then right at the end of the first you do a little teaser on zurg, in the second film you make it all about zurg where he goes on some kind of rampage and is taking everything over. Then in the 3rd you do the final showdown between zurg and buzz!! Only thing is you don't make zurg buzz from the future he's buzzlightyears dad just like from ts2!! I do agree tho lightyear was really underrated!! I think people hated it so much bc of tim Allen not being in it but tim Allen's buzz is the toy version not the real thing so thst didn't really bother me at all!!!
I’ve always thought, the complete ending to the Toy Story franchise would be, Andy has a child and then sets out to find all of his old toys he useto play with so he and his children would play with the toys. It ends up he actually finds all the original toys he had and ends with Woody and gang recognizing it’s him again and they start over…not sure what the rest of the movie would be about but that’s my dream ending. Every toy story has basically talked about fears that came reality or not being able to do something that they gone into into the next films. Fear of being thrown away to the dump, becoming a lost toy, having an owner who doesn’t want you anymore. It all fits for me

Toy Story 4 let me down because Disney acquired Marvel and Star Wars by then and it looks as if they didn’t even consider adding characters from these franchises as toys in the 4th installment. Let’s hope part 5 is good.
But I always believed that the way part 4 ended was leading up to a tv series being that the voice actors that stayed behind are all primarily television actors nowadays. With a possible one hour Christmas special exploring where Woody and Bo ended up.
One theory for the toys reuniting could be Andy’s collage graduation as Bonnie’s family could be invited and that would also be an event Woody wouldn’t want to miss.
