      Hi Sean, i was looking to buy one of these on amazon, till i saw this and dr coco, thanks, i currently have a 1.2x1.2 area and was wondering if a p200 will be sufficient light for both flower and bloom? I seem to be thinking from what i read is that it has all the useable light i need for area. Would really appreciate your advice Shane.

    thats what happens when you reduce the number of diodes and pump up the wattage.....
    sure hope you do a longevity test with these two models to see the difference in the degradation of the diodes, my money is on the P series!!!!
    also i would like to say thank you shane for all of the great videos and extremely accurate tests you do on all these lights, you are never shy about saying it when preforms poorly or even admit when they out preform your own models!!!! thats a level of integrity that a lot of channels are missing these days

  • @benzles8492
    @benzles8492 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Been running the XS1500 for a year now in a 3x3 tent and usually just one larger plant in it, and its def worth it at twice the price. I also have a P series still sitting in the box I bought with the XS series, Im going to run the P series in a smaller tent for seedlings, clones and veg then move em to a larger tent with the XS series for bloom. But for now, the XS is killer for the price. Way better than mars.

    • @Spiderdan-59

      Good to hear that, I've just purchased the vipraspectra xs1500 pro new gen version! I've goy an ATS 200w to ho with it and for seedling and rooted clones I've got a lumatec 100w supplementary bar, hope it's sufficient enough!🌿🔥🇬🇧

  • @aaronspencer1005
    @aaronspencer1005 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Maybe the xs series is more expensive due to the spectrum. From my experience, the P series has plenty of blue spectrum but lacks in the red spectrum which is crucial for flower development which is why gavita, Electric sky & even mars hydro produce such massive & dense flowers. I got airy fluffy flowers from 2 P1000’s & 1 P1500. I think the XS has more red in its spectrum as well as the upgraded hardware.

      Nah pretty sure your fluffy buds had a different cause.. Spectrum is kinda overrated at least not that important that it won't fatten your buds if a bit more on the blue side.. The amount of light is much more important

      @@user-ve7hn2dh8h Nah bro, try growing buds under a 500W GREEN light, lols, the plant will grow like shit. Spectrum is way more important that watts, Find the best spectrum light you can, then get the most watts from that range of lights. You look at the Spectrum 1st and then go for the most watts you can fit, not the other way around.

  • @Retrakk

  • @adrumwhisperer
    @adrumwhisperer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    With the black friday sale going on, you can pick up a P1500 for only $96! I ordered 6 for a 5x5 for $550, no other white led I've found matches that price/performance.

      Feck, you'll be disappointed in my flowers because I'm growing hot peppers and fruit trees. However, if someone wants to lend me an Apogee, I'd be happy to take some 5x5 maps!

    • @adrumwhisperer
      @adrumwhisperer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @FeckArse Industries if you are growing lettuce or microgreens, 4 would be good.... probably fine for overwintering my hot peppers as well. According to Dr. Coco's calculator you need 6 for a 5x5. I don't have a way of measuring, so I would rely on Dr. Coco. I wouldn't rely on wattage too much as different lights have different efficiencies and spread. A 5x5 space is awkward, so I'd like to test which configuration is optimal. If you need high intensity light, lower the light but it will become more focused.... then you need 6-7 to cover the area. If you can go with lower intensity raise them and spread the light out more. For the price, it was worth it to go for 6. Buying lots of small lights means they are easier to replace in the future or repurpose in another area. BTW, I added the lights to my shopping cart and then closed the window.. i got an email for an additional 5% off the next day. That's how the price got down to $550. Good luck

    I don't know about the xs series but I have both the P2000 and the VB1500 from viparspectra, and the both do a great job. the p2000 will actually cover an area of 3 ft x 4 ft for flowering, in a 2 x 4 tent it hit like 600's at the ends and like 800's along the walls running lengthwise at 18 to 20 inches. and the VB1500 easily covers a 2 x 2 ft bloom area.

    This video is a classic: people are always talking about Samsung 301b and never about the led count! It’s quite interesting that led count can more then make up for the gains from a more efficient led.
    Having Samsung 301b isn’t everything!
    Not just for viparspectra but regarding all companies! This video should be required watching

    psst. Keep certain lights on your Amazon wishlist and watch regularly. Did anybody else notice the 20% discounts on Mars Hydro and some lights dropping as much as $60? I think the market is flooded like solar without much innovation or difference between the available options which is win-win for consumers

    Awesome video, was looking for a good video that went over the differences between the two due to the price difference but from what I've seen too is the P series has more IR and red band diodes and does better in flowering stages than the XS, the price point did baffle me but seeing it everywhere instead of spider farm products seems to insinuate that the cost is due to marketing costs on their end haha looks like i'm getting the P series instead then

    The driver for the P1000 definitely get really hot!! which is concern with a small grow tent , compared to HLG 100 V2 and 2 of BavaGreen 120 watt version. I own all 3 models and both the HLG 100 V2 and BavaGreen run much cooler than the P1000. Where did they go wrong with the XS version ? it even has the better driver. they are side by side in same tent.

    wow. Theyre running the Qb288 at full 135 watt Boardpower. Ofc its not high efficiency then. Almost 500mw per diode. The 301s are only a marketing gag in this case. A QB288 with LM281+ only costs half as much as a LM301 board...you can use twice as much LEDs. You could buy 2 P1500 or even 2 x P2000 and run them only at 50 or 60%, i bet you get a real good efficiency lightsolution for a small price. Here in EU Vipar Spectra is a good chunk more expensive unfortunately. but we pay less for Sanlight.

    I've got 2 xs2000s and 1 xs1500 in the middle of them side by side not end on end like the xs4000, in a 4x4 tent with a single fan blowing over the drivers which keeps them cool to the touch even at full power,and I can say the lights are excellent quality. At around 50ish % of power on all three ,I have no problem with even, consistent readings on my led meter. I wish someone would do a par ppfd test with my type of setup with high quality instrument's. Multiple lights of different sizes. I would love to know if my measurements are right.

    Appreciate all the work you do to test this. However, plants don't grow to empty space. They grow to the light. When you test the corners and sides you point the sensor straight in the air. You should angle it to the light like a plant would do. This is why labs test in a sphere. The results are off real world a bit. Just saying.

      Car lights run on DC. Your wall plug is 120V, but that is AC. LED's use drivers (power supplies) that convert AC from your wall to DC for the LEDs. You might be better off with 4 in series using a 48V driver. Or 10 in parallel using a 12V driver.

      And if going to try something like this, make sure you check the voltage for each lamp. Most led diodes for not run on 12 Volts. While it is possible that a lamp assembly has enough diodes in series to add up to 12Volts, I do not know if this is the case. It is possible that a lamp runs on 2 volts and has a resistor in series to drop the 12v from the battery to a usable voltage for the led

      The XS series is fantastic. I'm growing peppers under them now and they are killing it so far. The extra money is in the better components and the wattage is slightly higher in the xs series due to the meanwell driver so of course it's going to run a little hotter.
