I got my maverick hybrid in October of 2022, and it took 14 months to get it. I regularly get between 40-55mpg in town and 30-35mpg on the hwy . Depending on the weather, the colder it is, the morning the gas motor has to run 4 heat. And how BIG a hurry you are in take it easy the better mpg you will get floor it and you mpg drops I love my maverick it's a really nice truck. Thanks 4 all your content. Your videos are spot on. Thanks
I currently have 16500 miles on my 2022 maverick, my combined mileage is at 41.4 mpg . In town between 44 and 55 mpg daily with hyway between 32 to 38 mpg very happy with this truck. The ford dealer did my recalls and reprogrammed the truck to solve a braking release issue in traffic stop and go driving again very satisfied.
What speed do you drive on the highway? Eco mode? How many passengers? Any payload in the bed or towed? Apologies for all the questions, very curious to know!
@@abram_gw Ok up to 1500 miles now and at 42.7mpg mostly by myself or with one passenger. averaging about 70mph on the highway. Haven't really ever had anything too significant - maybe 100lb in the bed. Have not towed yet. No worries. I almost always forget to put it in ECO mode, I maybe have had it in ECO mode for 5-10% of total driving. Otherwise in Normal mode (the default)
@@abram_gw no problem. Honestly I just use Cruise a lot seems to work just fine. I waited almost exactly 15 months ordered Oct 27 2021. Good luck on getting yours. The wait was definitely worth it for me
Who cares what the ratings say on paper? The actual real world gas mileage hasn't changed any. The advertised numbers are just an estimate based on averages. It's still a very fuel efficient vehicle. Especially considering how much power you get along with the roominess of the interior. Ford did a great job making this little trucklet really.
Really looking forward to your review of the Tremor. Enjoy the thorough off road review. Hard to believe the mileage on this is no better than the Ranger. Still, with a better ride, more leg room, lower price and easier step in height, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one.
I purchased a 2023 13 January this year, hybrid someone canceled and I scooped it. I'm getting 42 combined currently in eco mode and normal Driving. I love this truck
I have a '22 and a '23 hybrid XL. I just looked at the window sticker for the '23 and it is showing the MPG ratings you show in the video. The window sticker was created November 28 last year so they knew the lower MPG ratings back then. I have noticed that my '22 gets a bit better MPG than my wife's '23 model. They must have done something with the tuning because both trucks are identical except for the color and the cruise control that was made standard in the '23 MY. Our '23 takes more work to keep on electric than the '22.
I'm been getting terrible gas mileage with the 2.0 AWD. 15 to 18 city is ridiculous Used to get 17mpg with my 2018 F150 with the 3.5L and 15mpg with the 2021 5.0L 🤔
I was super tempted when I had the ability to modify my hybrid 22 order to change to the Tremor. Glad I didn't since my commute is all back roads, lots of stop and go. Ultimately, I don't plan to off road vehicles, it's not my idea of fun. I'd rather ride my mountain bike on a trail than ride my vehicle on bumpy roads and potentially damage the vehicle haha. Thanks for all the Maverick coverage, I've watched all your vids! 👍
I have a '22 AWD Maverick with the 4K tow package (no FX4), and I get no better than 18 MPG in all-city driving...way worse than the EPA 22 estimate. I can easily get 30+ MPG in all-highway driving, providing I keep the speed under about 70 MPH. I have a '23 hybrid on order. Fingers crossed that it gets produced.
I took my 2022 Maverick XLT ecoboost on a road trip in November, just 2 weeks after I took delivery. I drove from Houston to Dallas and maintained a speed of 75mph. When I gassed up in the Dallas area I got 31.3 mpg. I was extremely happy with that. I’m looking for even better gas mileage after the truck gets broken in with more mileage on it. It’s a great truck, I have no complaints at all.
I have a 23 maverick hybrid. I’m getting 31/32 in 95% city driving. I did install slightly larger tires, 245/65/17. I assumed i would take a hit on mpg because of this but a little surprised over how much. Also, i’ve been taking it easy on the gas pedal and using the eco mode setting.
I don't see those slight Mpg drops being an issue. The mileage, especially the hybrid is still strong plus the price makes this great little truck an amazing bargain. Ford could double possibly triple the Maverick sales if they could produce them. For those customers upset over losing a mile or two mpg and decide to cancel their orders. I'm sure those customers waiting to purchase a Maverick will gladly fill their spot. Regarding the 2.0 Awd Tremor. Being an off road style truck with larger tires plus I'm guessing other suspension changes lower the Mpg. For this small decline in fuel mileage. It's not even close to being a deal breaker.
Well.....that is why MPG is only a small part of the equation when buying a vehicle. It is only a rough guesstimate anyway. There are so many variables when it comes to fuel efficiency that one should always take the ratings with a grain of salt. Regardless of the revision it is still a nice little truck and the fact that they are so scarce is proof that Ford has been missing an opportunity for a long time. They have been very short sighted in their North American strategy.
Interesting, so if the 1" lift on the tremor is responsible for that fuel efficiency drop, I wonder if you lowered it 1" to the regular height if the MPG would be in line w/ the non-tremor ecoboost. Similarly, if you lowered the hybrid 1", if you'd see a boost in MPG lol
Same as other comments. Window sticker was created months before my build, so no surprises at delivery as the video states. High MPG ratings on all makes don't always equate to real world results. My household long ago learned to drive less, and combine trips when we do drive. How, when, and where you drive also matter more than the changes on the sticker. Every buyer should check the build on the sticker, including EPA ratings, before they buy. There is nothing hidden here, it is all in writing ahead of time. Watching the timing of the EPA web postings, and comparison of previous model years is interesting but it isn't where a buyer should be focusing if they want to know before they sign the check.
If I recall correctly the 2.0 engine is a new modular design for this year. That probably resulted in the change. And everyone knows you lift a truck and put grippy tires on it, you’re going to kill mpg.
I really like the idea of a unibody station wagon with a box on the back instead of the 3rd road seating and storage. The Tremor version is a true hard core off roader. Lol😂 and at a reasonable price.
I get 24mpg on my Ecoboost XLT with AT tires, level kit, and pulling a 16' boat going 65mph... Keep your batteries, I'll keep my turbo. 32mpg summer drives, 22-24mpg -20 F or towing... Works for me. 14,000 miles so far n she will be a rusty MN truck in no time.
I always enjoy the videos on this channel, however, I don’t understand the point of this video…The only vehicle that’s being downgraded significantly is the tremmor version which most folks won’t buy anyway. The hybrid still gets the same combined ratings and excellent fuel economy. That’s the best one in this lineup. 🤷🏽♂️
I will say on the forums mpg has been kind of everywhere for ecoboosts . I’ve seen 2 tremor orders say their mpg average so far is between 24-22, but I’ve also seen 2 different tremor orders say they’ve managed between 25-30 on highway 🤷🏾♂️
I have to wonder how with the Ecoboost FWD having the same city mpg of 23 and highway mpg of 30, the new average comes to 25? The math does not add up. If you divide 53 by2, you get 26.5.
That isn't how these things are computed. There is a prescribed test cycle that has a myriad of performance, driving and conditional parameters they use to arrive at a combined average. It's not a 50/50 average.
@@TestDrivenTV Just seems the parameters would be the same this year. No changes in the engine, or the truck that I know of. After all, they say the city and highway mileage is the same on the ecoboost fwd.
Jesus, first no incentives for MY23 orders, then switch from hybrid to tremor just to get one and now this. Really think I'm gonna keep my 2018 Audi S4 at this point. A true bummer. Side note, your content has been my go to for everything Ford Maverick. Thank You!
I believe Ford wants you to move up to Ranger vs Maverick Tremor 4WD models. If Mileage is similar Ford is impressing upon you to move up. Ford wins with probably higher margins on Ranger.
1. How is the Tremor "literally half what you are getting with your hybrid" right now? Assuming you are getting what the EPA estimates, it would be 37/2 = 18.5MPG which is less than the Tremor's 21 MPG. 2. If it is "literally half" because of your real world driving, then you are actually getting 42MPG (double of 21 and a full 5MPG higher than what was the EPA estimates). So, Ford is underpromising/ overdelivering then and perhaps you can expect to do better with the Tremor?
Based on 2023 ratings, the Tremor is 20 mpg city, the Hybrid is 40 city. That is exactly half for city driving which is about 90% of what we do overall and 100% on some tanks. It is well less than half compared to our real world numbers, but that is anecdotal because we don't know real world numbers for Tremor - yet. ;). None the less it plays into the decision process for us in looking at do we replace one with the other.
My ‘23 Maverick gets 0 mpg because all I get are emails.
