I had time lapse videos of other cues I made and according to TH-cam, the average view time is only about 3 minutes. I just thought no one really care on how I was making the cue. The next A Joint cue I made I should be able to time lapse it. Thank you for commenting and if haven’t already please subscribe and please share.
My next A Joint cue I should be able to time lapse it. I just didn’t think viewers cared on how I made the cues. I wasn’t getting more than an average of 3 minutes on my other time lapse videos I made of making a cue. Thank you for commenting, if haven’t already please subscribe and please share.
We care. Especially men as a group . I like to understand things in detail an want to make cues. I search he an google for information. But there is nothing like seeing it being produced. This is the best cue making video on TH-cam. An I have seen every single 1 . On cue making. An yes some guys explain things, but most are about the CNC , which i and others may not have the funds to purchase one. But a cuesmith or lathe is very accessible to most individuals. Most videos i what I don’t like, or skip the talking lol , this I didn’t skip anything not even the ads lol 😂 . Because they are a revenue and the video is worth it. Thanks
Thank you for commenting. I just did pictures for this cue. I just finished building 3 cues. One will be picture, the second one will have pictures of the cue but the shaft, it’s carbon and it’s a time lapse video on how I made it and the third one will be a full time lapse with a LD shaft with a vault plate instead of a ferrule. The videos will be out soon. I plan to show a sneak peek this Sunday. Again thank you for commenting, please subscribe if haven’t already and please share.
Beautiful work! Do you see any big differences in curly vs hard rock in shaft performance? Feedback, flex or sound? I have been playing with a J. Pierce KW shaft for 6 months and love it. But have wanted to try a curly maple kw to compare.
Thank you. I shoot with a heavy curly maple Kielwood shaft now and I have shot with a regular maple Kielwood before and I can’t tell a difference between the two. I made both of them on my cnc and I made sure the specs are the same so I don’t have to adjust. I can tell you one thing, the curly mulch kielwood is a showstopper, I get questions about it, but for playability the shaft is the same as a regular maple Kielwood. Hope this helps and thank you for commenting.
Beautiful cue, how many hours to build this cue. I am retiring in a year and wanting to build my own cue and maybe sell a few. Looking for good advice and love your videos.
Thank you. For the hours, it took about 6 hours a day for 3 days since I had to measure so many times to get the stack right. I just did another cue for myself and it to me less than a day to get everything ready for stacking it and epoxying it. Building cue is great. If you plan to make it as a hobby or making cues on the side, my advice is get a lathe with a large bore up front. It will do everything for you from tips on a shaft to the whole cue. DM me on Facebook or here if you have any questions. I’ll do my best to answer them. Thank you for commenting, please subscribe if haven’t already and please share.
So, you Philippinos besides kicking ass playing pool, you also make cues? LOL Great video brother! You should really make some cues for sale! You’re super talented.
Thank you. I’m just learning to make cues, still taking baby steps. I am planning to make some more and sell them. If interested or if you know someone that might be interested PM me on Facebook. facebook.com/felix.yao.5205 Thank you for commenting, please subscribe if haven’t already and please share.
The shaft is straight. It’s wood. Roll any wood, even new one, on the edge of the joint and you can see a slight wobble. Rolling the cue on the edge of the rail is the best way to test any cue. Rolling flat on the table doesn’t really do much. Hope this helps, please subscribe if haven’t already and please share.
I wish I could. I bought the forearm pre made with points from Prather Cues. Thank you for commenting, please subscribe if haven’t already and please share.
Would you have any interest in staining a kielwood shaft black? I’ve contacted a couple larger companies and they have no interest in trying to do a project like this.
That would be interesting but with Kielwood, if done correctly when roasting the wood, the wood should not absorb any fluids. I think that is why manufacturers are not doing it. Kielwood doesn’t really have any pores unless like regular wood. I think trying to stain it the stain would look blotchy. Hope this helps and thank you for commenting.
@ I think it would need to be dyed all the way through in the lumber phase then torrified and roasted. This would give it a chance to be saturated all the way through. It’s definitely an extra step that I’d like to see. Since kielwood shafts only come in brown.
I think you are right. I looked it up and it seems you can stain Kielwood. I might try it when I get back from the BCA Vegas tournaments. Right now I am just practicing. Thank you for the advice and commenting.
How long did it take you to be able to make a cue like this. Did you have lathe experience before you started. I am really thinking about trying but don't know what tooling is needed to start. I know the Lathe but thats about it. Any help would be great. Loved the video.
That was my second “A” joint cue and 4 or 5 cue in total. I have no lathe experience before I started but I was a mechanic before I joined the army. I watched a lot of TH-cam videos. The best video I found very helpful was this video. th-cam.com/video/8s5jvffTW1Y/w-d-xo.html It’s a VSH to digital but the information is what counts. I also have have this video to help you set up your lathe for center drilling to setting a taper. th-cam.com/video/sVw4G0OF2AY/w-d-xo.html Once you get the lathe, putting a cue together is really not that hard. I play with the cues I make and the actually preform very well. I don’t have to worry about balance point because I can place to where I want it and especially the weight of the cue without adding weight bolts. I would try a sneaky pete at first to see how to set up the joint and make sure the alignment and concentricity is up to par with the shaft. Also, I will have a full time lapse video on how I made an “A” joint pool cue. It will be out next Wednesday. Hope this helps, thank you for commenting, please subscribe if haven’t already and please share.
