  • Hey y'all!
    We have a homemade tool we made here in the shop for getting dents out of motorcycle gas tanks, check out how it works in this video!
    It's a simple tool that can be made using the most basic tools and material that most people probably have kicking around and can be put away in the tool box to be used any time ya need it! It's completely mess free (as long as you don't spill gasoline all over the floor lol) without having to put a diaphragm, water or anything else in your tank that will be a pain to remove.
    Hope someone finds this useful. Now go fix those gas tank dents!
    For anyone who is interested, my PO Box and email address are listed below:

    Alright!! Nice quick fix Red, it’s great to have the guidance of your dad. He’s a really handy guy, the world needs way more humans like him in it. Thanks for the tip and for letting us in on the repair. Keep up the great work, your videos are fantastic! Have a great day/night and we’ll see you next time.

    A hot glue dent puller kit works good too, and you can get tank dent rods or bars, but they are hard to work with. But I use the hot glue kit. Good vid.

      Im with ya on old tanks and fenders where ya have room they work..but toddays tanks they have a nozzle bar right in the hole and some others are just to tight to move the rod around...cheers..😁

    • @noggintube
      @noggintube ปีที่แล้ว

      Also the hot glue pullers target the dent alone and don't risk blowing other parts of the tank out of shape like this method. This has to assume the dent is the weakest point, but if it isn't you'll deform other areas and can end up with the tank being out of shape.

    Nice tool. The last time I had a dented tank was in 1974. A friend and I were out fooling with dirt bikes, I was doing a wheelie at around 30 mph and he popped out of the woods and went across my path before he saw me. No room to stop or avoid him, so I locked the brakes to get the front wheel back down to help slow before I hit him dead center. We survived, messed up both bikes, I crushed in both sides of my tank squeezing it hard also bent the handle bars, forks and front rim. His was not rideable so I went for a trailer on mine, slowly. The things we do when we are young (mid 20's) and irresponsible and somehow survive! ;-)
    I had forgotten about that until you reminded me, thanks.

    That was pretty sweet. The timing of this video for me is spooky cool. I just took most of a pretty big dent out of my tank with a PDR kit of Amazon. I think it was $26. I used my own glue gun and gorilla glue sticks. I bet with your method and the glue sticks I could probably pull some small dents too.
    Very helpful video.
