    That was pretty sweet. The timing of this video for me is spooky cool. I just took most of a pretty big dent out of my tank with a PDR kit of Amazon. I think it was $26. I used my own glue gun and gorilla glue sticks. I bet with your method and the glue sticks I could probably pull some small dents too.

    Nice tool. The last time I had a dented tank was in 1974. A friend and I were out fooling with dirt bikes, I was doing a wheelie at around 30 mph and he popped out of the woods and went across my path before he saw me. No room to stop or avoid him, so I locked the brakes to get the front wheel back down to help slow before I hit him dead center. We survived, messed up both bikes, I crushed in both sides of my tank squeezing it hard also bent the handle bars, forks and front rim. His was not rideable so I went for a trailer on mine, slowly. The things we do when we are young (mid 20's) and irresponsible and somehow survive! ;-)
    I had forgotten about that until you reminded me, thanks.

    • @noggintube
      @noggintube 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also the hot glue pullers target the dent alone and don't risk blowing other parts of the tank out of shape like this method. This has to assume the dent is the weakest point, but if it isn't you'll deform other areas and can end up with the tank being out of shape.

    What is the max pressure you recommend? Thanks, great video.

    • @RedRiderCanadaBC
      @RedRiderCanadaBC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      We didn't go any higher than 15 psi with this tank. It could have probably taken more, but I didn't want to overdo it and wreck it.
      And every tank is different so I wouldn't want to recommend a max psi because there are so many different variables that will determine the integrity or strength of piece of body work. Rust in the seam of a weld could make a tank that is usually good to take 20psi burst at 10 psi. Or if the tunnel on a tank ( like a dirt bike tank) is really deep it could cause the tank get distorted very easily by putting too much air pressure in it. So its really just a use at your own discretion kind of thing, and make sure you use common sense.
      Thanks for the comment, I hope that kind of helps answer your question.

    That's a genius idea I've been trying to figure something like this out since my accident last year and I'm wondering if I heated up the metal if it would help at all

      Heating the metal would probably help some I would think... Maybe get someone to hold a heat gun while you pump up the air. Just don't use a compressor and don’t overdue the air so you don't bulge your tank or spit seems! Good luck!
