    I totally agree with Comet at 3:00, for people to enjoy the class, we need to first have all class to deal decent damage to clear all boss. All classes does have their own pros and cons but if the class cant even clear bosses, you will end up with bias pt and in the end, everyone will just main a specific class. This not only affect the player count, pt count but also the market price. So how everyone is going to really enjoy the class they play

      Yeah take that it can be subjective based on their exp (or non exp). For example, Mihile and Kain for me would insta go to OP. They said mihile is underwhelming, and that Kain burst without origin is mediocre, and thats seems a bit biased, as its very strong compared to the rest of the guys in "Strong". It may look mediocre comparing to its own origin burst, but compared with others the damage output is insane. it feels to me like maple story was supposed to be this cutesy chat hub type game, nexon never meant for it to be this serious, the class balance is not even bad perse, its just that EVERYTHING revolving around party play is completely outdated, and that fact alone just extencuates the balance 'issues'.
    support is just not something nexon even understand fundamentally, the fact taht a class that gives ANY amount of support can deal more dmg then a PURE dps, is beyond me...
    the whole concept of countering (like rock-paper-scissors) seems completely lost on them in regards to boss vs character type.
    I will also add that since character categories(burst, support, consistent dmg etc) are artificial (decided on by players) burst characters are just always gonna stay the better choice.

      you play purely solo and im guessing a class with little to no support? The opinion that anything with support should deal little damage compared to pure dps is very flawed ignorant and narrow minded. You realize that a lot of this game's meta revolves around pushing yourself to be strong enough to solo bosses? You seem very set into the idea of a traditional mmo as "right" when there are a lot of good mmos that stray from the traditional rock paper scissors (which im assuming you mean holy trinity, heal tank support). This game in particular there is no value to a tank because a tank in a 2d game would kind of trivialize the bosses. healer and support (support in the traditional sense where mostly they are providing shields and utility with maybe some light buffing) are not always necessary because the bosses are designed to be clearable with any amount of players, 1-6, so the fights are designed around every person being responsible for themselves and every class having self sufficiency with some form of survivability. The logical conclusion of this is that supports cant just do 0 damage because dps dont need them in a party like they would in traditional mmos, the dps will just solo the content. Yes for harder stuff they will group up with a support but look at the meta, the bosses that you need to solo for endgame gear are luwill ctene and lomien. Dps will just solo these and get their drops, and supports will be unable to solo them and dps will have 0 incentive to help them solo.
      You are also wrong about character categories being artificial/arbitrary, they are not decided by the players they are decided by their damage patterns in the game. Burst characters also arent artificially the best because of player perspective or anything like that, they are objectively the best because they can dump all their damage in a condensed window with RoR and party buffs which scales their damage exponentially, which classes with more lengthy burst patterns cant do.
      Anyways, you forgot your time machine to 15 years ago, move on man. maplestory isnt a cutesy chat hub heneho simulator anymore, there is a very fleshed out game that you are too blinded by your rose tinted glasses to be able to see

    I think you guys are putting way too much doomer/negative energy into the community with this kind of stuff. Especially considering that the boss hasnt even released and inkwell has been doing nothing but right by us, i think a bit more optimism is in order. Although i do agree class balance has too much variance in it all we can really do is hope KR sorts it out. I know you preface the video and mention it again multiple times throughout that every class is fine and this is irrelevant to everyone outside the 0.01% of endgame players but these sentiments you are talking about feel so widespread in the community as huge issues in the game when they don't even affect most people complaining about it. Honestly this probably works out well for you because your issue is brought to the forefront for nexon to address but it feels pretty negative for the community because people definitely feel like they cant play classes because they will not be able to clear bosses they probably aren't going to touch anyways (and if they do get to those bosses the meta will be way different by then)
    Also with the reboot doomerism: the oz ring change definitely wasnt anti reboot, oz rings are pretty hard to drop on reg and the price of them went up after the change. yeah reg can sell their extra rings but keep in mind they have significantly worse droprate than us on reboot and there are people on reboot who still dont have the rings they need.
    Grindstones also arent an anti reboot system, they are just a bad system. Grindstones are over $1k KR reg and incredibly hard to drop and equally as coveted as they are on reboot, only the hyper whales are running around with their ror5s because it is simply not an efficient upgrade with how rare they are ontop of it only being a 10% upgrade chance

    • @c8met
      @c8met  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      appreciate the response and you definitely have some valid points. I personally think we were being honest with addressing both the shitty systems in the game at the endgame level in our server. I don't expect everyone to understand that or our point of view but people seemed interested in our perspective on this matter so I will talk about it. In terms of reg, I just believe reg just better in a sense because you have the option to avoid being gated. but again, it is using real money vs playing a server where its "free." We won't ever know if that was supposed to be "anti" reboot or not but it's pretty obvious that KMS cares more about their reg server players more.

    • @imbecile5604
      @imbecile5604 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think its a stretch to suggest that only optimism is warranted and that theres no justification for voicing strong complaints regarding the game. Yes, good changes have been implemented and there can possibly be more on the way, however this progress has been quite slow as is and there has been a SINGLE system of concern addressed in reboot (familiars). Of the single system being addressed, theyve implemented an extremely unsatisfactory “solution” with cernium fams, and they intend on releasing the mystical cards next patch which again, can POSSIBLY be good, however I think its unlikely to be satisfactory based on the rumored information circulating. Wheres the communication regarding future fam implementation in later areas? We can see SIGNS of good changes on the way (in 1 system to be clear), however we have yet to see an ACTUAL good change be implemented. The best things that have happened so far with inkwell’s direction were to avoid implementing BAD changes, which is completely different.
      I can agree things are more positive looking than before, but to suggest that we shouldn’t make our demands loud and clear is more hurtful for this game than whatever you think we’re doing. This company has shown time and time again that they don’t care about your minor concerns with the game, they care about the big, loudly voiced concerns that will influence people’s decision making.
      Another thing I disagree with in this response is that the comparisons youre drawing to reg and reboot are fundamentally flawed; You need to compare the equivalent gamestates rather than the servers entirely. Oz rings might’ve gotten more expensive in reg through the change, however this is because the reg population in GMS isn’t large enough to have bossing as an alternative that resupplies the pool of rings being sold, especially when oz was being exploited in both GMS and KMS (main driver for removing the content entirely). Aside from that, the main point of contention is how influential that problem is to you in one server vs the other. In reg server, even if an oz ring is your most efficient gain, there are alternative gains that are available at that stage which will be lower in efficiency to a much smaller degree than reboot. In reboot if you are endgame and need a cont4/ror4/wj4, not only do you not have an alternative to brute force its acquisition, you do not really have an alternative gain that is anywhere near as good or feasible. Prior to the end game, its not as big of a deal of course, but the premise of this issue along with the others mentioned in the video is the lack of options. The same philosophy applies to grindstone; it is a bad system regardless of server, but reg server has a clear advantage in that they can either purchase it or sell their grindstones as a party and get value out of it, while rebooters need to actively cut their party size and potentially lose out on other progression because of prioritizing that. I also think your figure on the KR grindstone cost must be wildly inaccurate, as its far less than that here in GMS, however I don’t know for certain and could be mistaken.
      TLDR, the game has clear problems that need to be addressed both in reg and reboot, and the best way to get them addressed is to voice our concerns for them, loudly and frequently. Just because they’ve shown small signs towards good changes doesn’t mean we should sit silently and hope they know and WANT whats best for us.

      >the game has clear problems that need to be addressed both in reg and reboot, and the best way to get them addressed is to voice our concerns for them, loudly and frequently.
      This is the unfortunate reality yeah and i do think its overall good to be pushing for some sort of change like adding a way for us to get more damage lategame or simply cutting hp on the unclearable stuff. I was mostly lamenting how people have had such a negative sentiment about the game recently when most of these issues dont affect them and never will. Again, unfortunately that widespread sentiment seems to be the only thing that pushes a change to nexon so it is what it is i guess, it would just be nice to see a bit more optimism.
      I think for the most part the game is good and doesnt need a whole lot of stuff fixed, and small tweaks+not adding the bad stuff from KR is a great way to handle it. Balance is a tricky issue because (in my opinion) these korean pay2win mmos make their money off balance thrashing and forcing meta chasers to reroll which ends up costing them a lot of money, which isnt a balancing formula that really works with maple and especially reboot when players are so locked in to their main. I also think its a bit much to expect them to have an individual gms balance patch, which is mentioned in this vid. Also, another thing they have done since inkwell is the 2nd mastery stuff to kanna that basically saved it as a class which unironically felt like a big issue in the community for whatever reason, maybe kannas are just whiny?
      Yeah for the oz ring/grindstone stuff you definitely have some advantages on reg, and i said most of my piece in the other reply, TLDR i was just saying I dont think it was an anti reboot change like someone in the video was claiming, it is unfortunate that with bad variance you can get locked out of your ring for a very long time but also just sort of a core tenet of reboot, for better or worse (these days people seem to feel like its worse)

      @@c8met an alternate perspective - I think you guys brought up extremely compelling perspectives that the new direction of GMS Heroic needs to try to change/improve. E.g. introducing systems specifically designed around Reg auction house and meso market, but not changing those systems in reboot servers to fit those servers unique structures at all, is most definitely intentional.
      Inkwell does have the opportunity to make GMS the best server for Maple, for both Heroic and Interactive, but pointing out all the problems that need fixing is not at all doomer. How can he know what to fix if issues from players' perspectives aren't brought up and discussed? Imo these types of discussions extremely important and are the best way to bring problems to the surface because there is credibility from end game players that are also content creators, vs random nobodies in the official Discord posting in the suggestions channel.

      this is just an aside/comment on your oz ring thing, i believe a huge portion of why they implemented oz ring boxes was to combat botters in kms doing oz and farming rings. so provided I remembered that correctly, it's just punishing people who would want to brute force the content (i.e. do oz till thye get their rings) and locking it behind rng gates.

    This entire video is one reason after another to play reg server. Whether you like it or not, KMS is the real version of Maplestory and their reg servers are what the game is conceived and balanced around. When GMS in and of itself is already a subsidiary product only created and maintained to milk a little more money out of a wider consumer base, it's not surprising that Reboot, the F2P world within this server, is imbalanced. There is no incentive for them to care about a playbase that does not spend nearly as much money on the game, and rightfully so.
    Nobody wants to hear it but the most optimal and enjoyable way to play this game is to spend money on it because that's what the game is designed around. It's extremely normal to spend money on hobbies and things you enjoy, but for some reason in this community it's seen as unreasonable and dumb to spend money on progress. It's seen as more virtuous to grind for 10 hours than it is to work one singular hour of a job and buy the same amount of progress and it's so unbelievably, unfathomably backwards. People are prideful in slaving away killing mobs for what is effectively a $2 per hour wage, yet detest the idea of working a job for $30 an hour and god forbid spending it on a hobby you enjoy.
    Maybe it'd be understandable if Reboot was a truly superior server and gameplay experience, but this entire video demonstrates otherwise. Tradeable/transferrable frags? Not a problem in reg. Fams? Not a problem in reg. Pitch boss drops/oz rings/general RNG? Not a problem or mitigated severely in reg. Not only that but each class is stronger in reg and can clear harder bosses, which, while I will admit does not nearly solve the balancing problem that exists, at least again significantly mitigates the issues and allows for more accessibility. Most Reboot players argue that they can't get to min/max endgame without spending thousands of dollars, but I can assure you the people who spend 10+ hours grinding a day on Reboot would have just as much, if not more, progress to show for on reg.
    Anyways, my point is I just don't understand why so much time is spent fighting Nexon and putting up with these glaring issues highlighted in this video when the solution is to just play the server they want you to play. They're going to keep suppressing Reboot and incentivizing people more and more every year to play Reg and it's nonsensical to die on Reboot's hill when it's not even a hill Nexon knows exists. They will never watch this video, they will never listen to feedback, and now that KMS Reboot is completely gone, they have even less feeds and reasons to care. In reg servers, while I acknowledge they are far from perfect, I can guarantee you they will at least listen.
