I think a sunset would be a good HDR test. Back in the day, I had to take my A1 down one f-stop to capture one 'correctly'. I will eventually get a modern camera when I start taking vacations and will use your gear as a reference guide. Sony just came out with a camera that provides light from the image to all cells in the sensor simultaneously. So there is no tearing on quick camera movements.
I really like the film. Your first HDR 🔥🔥😮💨. I really love the results. But the only fault I saw was with sound design, I know it’s tricky haha. But it didn’t really drive me into the moment I thought I would go in the way the movie started. Sound drives us to what you’re trying to tell us. Like fear , But this hard some a little emotional mix taking me in and out of it. In simple terms. It was smooth in design But other than that…. The film is GREAT BRO.
I feel the phone captures a weird fake “HDR” probably by capturing one overexposed then one underexposed image for every frame then live mixing them together because the motion feels weird. Considering the tiny size of the sensor it’s probably upscaling stuff and has weird compression artifacts that tend to surround iPhone footage. The color grade you did was great the concept is great and camera composition and blocking was great it’s just a limitation to that specific camera itself. Would be interested to see you do a film with an HDR workflow with a pro cinema camera.
@@elliotalderson2479 There is nothing "fake" about it. Using one camera to capture high intensity light and another camera to capture low intensity light is how real (i.e., movie grade) HDR is accomplished. That is what I learned in a masters level CG course I took about 10 years ago. Phone-camera artifacts are a byproduct of the small lens size and lack of processing power in the video processor. Sony just released a camera where there is zero latency between the cells in the sensor. This should reduce many of the motion related artifacts.
@@floatingrabbit3556 I think Sam is referring to the quality potential. Not saying/assuming that you can just take your phone out and make this instantly
@@uekvowzkaebbzuvrgipqxhemmwbhe this entire TH-cam video is edited. The video output does not look like this. There are enhancements and color grading in the final product to give it the “movie look”. You can’t just whip your phone out and get this exact look without that stuff
This is the most cinematic look that I have seen in any footage taken with this device. You have set a new standard for me. This is the level that I am trying to achieve. Your work is amazing, ass well as the color grading. Magnificent job my friend.
Watching here from Brazil. Great to see an High standard movie like this shot on a smartphone. It makes me feel excited to try it on my S22 Ultra and my Osmo 4! Thank you for encourage me!
This is Great!!! Well shot on the IPhone 15 Pro Max and very good storytelling! The dynamic range this phone brings is pretty amazing! Keep up the awesome work!
Great framing and composition, love the sound design. The talents were really good. I know smart phones are getting better with their cameras but it doesn’t compare to a full frame cinema camera. Focal lengths, aperture, lighting and lenses play a big part in the production quality of a film. I made my first film with an iPhone 11 and this looks similar to that, but once I got a fx6 visually there was a night and day difference.
I loved the way the actress acted, so good at actin’❤ really enjoyed this snippet of film, i would’ve made longer, but i know this almost 6 minutes were hard to shot.
Years ago you cringed when an indie filmmaker said they were gonna shoot their short film with an iPhone. I recently just got my iPhone 15 Pro Max and the camera on this thing is simply shocking. I downloaded the free camera app from BlackMagic and it’s sensational! Not sure I would shoot anything with a budget higher than $3,000 on an iPhone 15 still, but for something simple like a comedy sketch or something that isn’t very complex I would DEFINITELY shoot it on an iPhone 15 Pro Max!! Excellent job! Gorgeous looking!
I am yet to try Apple translate but currently I am using Immersive translate for my foreign languages translation and it has been such a life saver especially during my travelling.
I thought it was well shot and graded. The emotions got me going right away. I didn't get why the "cat" stopped chasing them. Glad they got away for now.
I think that is one heck of a handset ❤❤❤.......the best in the market to take videos of family and moments.....but I still think movies are something another level which no single device can make up. For me the stabilisation is one thing that has to be improved a lot. And the lighting was too low at two points where woman's face was dark......i think this has to be done with the editor. The iPhone has done a great job, but Film is a big thing where 100s of people work together, so yes I can see a lot of difference.
I have to say this is brilliant. I’m planning to buy s24 ultra soon. It won’t look like this, right? You could say iPhone 15 pro max video test is better?
great short ! looks very cinematic. Just curious about the stabilization you used for the short.... especially in the running scenes. thanks - love your channel

The fact that this could be done with a device that fits in your pocket is astonishing.
That AND with something that costs a smallll fraction of what big movie producers use. With internet, texting, calling, games, music, etc haha
By the time you rig the iPhone to achieve this, it will no longer fit in your pocket.

👏🏻
I think this is brillant film making, this prove once again, its never the equipment, it's all the people's effort put behind this work !
It's still about equipment.
Iphone 15 is about 30K where I live and a high-end editing computer is about 20K. Equipment is everything.
And fps is different i think
The coloring is perfect , better than many movies 👌
Cant believe it was shot on a phone. Great work! Waiting for BTS. Thanks for building confidence.
There has never been a better or more affordable to be a creator. Your visuals are stunning. GREAT WORK!!!!
Wow, thank you!
Hi blake! The ending music was like intersteller. Got the nostalgia feeling.
In addition to equipment like this, it's nice that the rest of the elements were made with great care.
Looks really good. I love seeing how good of image you can get out of the iPhone.
So we can literally make movie out of it.. That's so cool. ❤❤
The move at 2:49 is futuristic when we consider the content of similar scenes in modern horror movies...Bravo!
The color grading is awesome😊❤
Thank you.
Very Simple and Very Complex at the same exact time! Amazing Work to All!
Absolutely amazing work! Your color grading skills are top notch. This iPhone footage looks more cinematic than my DSLR. Great work!

Go for it. And you’re welcome ☺️
if there was POV with some weird distorted vision of the monster could have added more! Crazy to think can shoot a short on a phone nowadays!
