Same here, It has been two years of your comment here, I hope you have bought and experienced your glucometer, Can I know which one you have bought? and how is your experience with that brother? You can help us to decide better, Thank You 😊
There is a lot of good information in that video, thank you. The one we all expected is not buy A, B or C they are the best. But what I found really helpful is that someone says that a) the strips need to be fresh when the container has been opened (3 months is best) humidity, oxygen, and heat are bad for precision. The OneTouch select is better in counties with high temperatures and humidity as those strips are more stable, others can go for the Ultra variant which has better electronic features but different strips. The Accu-Chek Guide has the same plasma-calibrated strips as other modern Glucometers. It is easy and stable and has much fewer variants. The standards allow +/- 10% but the new good ones have half the range and are more precise. What has not been taken into account is that some Glucometers do not recalibrate for temperature, so they are fine with 20-24 degree Celsius, but not with lower or higher temperatures, as the measure has to be compensated. What I missed was the Coutour Next which shows precision in many hospitals as also the Glucocheck Gold also switched to plasma calibration. Most modern Glucometers have Bluetooth connectivity but not all have good software.
Thank you so much...you have explained in details with live experiment... In just 10 min I am very much clear with all confusion...I am so impressed for your kindness... Please keep posting videos like this
If you exclude the accucheck reading which was obviously a bad reading then the average error for all of the remaining meters is only1% and the error has one standard deviation of 6.9 mg/dl. I’d say that’s pretty accurate to be honest.
Dr Waseem, I am Chandrashekhar Raje, currently staying in USA. I am thrilled to see your bold demonstration on selection of Glucometer. We have 4 good quality Glucometers but every meter differs in showing results and at times we get frustrated to rely on anyone. Now decided, next time to carry with us to at least 2 meters to Pathological Lab during testing of blood & then retest on our meters to compare the correctness. That should dispel our confusion. Hope so. Once again profound thanks for enlightening us.
Thank you mr.chandrasekhar sir. Glucometer is only a rough estimate of the actual blood sugars. Do subscribe to our channel and share useful videos with your friends and family members.
Great video other than the finger squeezing. I am always amazed at how many Drs or Medical Professionals will squeeze the finger to get an ample blood draw. Ample does not mean adequate. Squeezing the fingers DURING a blood draw is not a good method to produce a sample & can cause Blood Sugar Readings to be inadequate. Our blood cells are very delicate and squeezing the finger can cause hemolysis, potentially causing unwanted components inside the blood cell to be released into the blood sample, giving an inaccurate reading. Very light squeezing is acceptable to most Drs, the problem with this is that the term "light" is subjective and typically ignored by the common person performing BS readings at home. Most people's mood, schedule, and lack of circulation generally creates a greater sense of urgency in the user and thus, less awareness is on the actual pressure due to the desire the get the task done. It is better not to squeeze at all. Many will say, it's hard just to get one drop if I don't squeeze. I have to squeeze my finger or nothing will come out. I used to think the same thing, and had the same problem, until I started focusing on hydration. #1 Reason for poor circulation is dehydration. Hydration is not merely drinking water, that's only part of it, but proper electrolyte balance as well. #2 Reason for poor circulation is lack of movement. Did you know that drink 8 ozs to 16 ozs of water 4 to 5 minutes before taking your blood sample will increase your blood flow? Additionally, warming the hands with warm water (not too hot, and of course do not have it uncomfortably hot or burning, but as hot as you can stand it), for about 4 minutes, (do NOT use soap), then thoroughly drying the hands, before initiating a sample will also create better blood flow. Massaging the hands and each of your fingers while warming them under the water really helps to cut down on disappointments of seeing little to no blood after lancing (initiating a blood draw). Using an adequate lancet size and pricking the finger (the least used hand, Middle Finger or Ring Finger) in an optimal place also ensures greater blood flow. Do NOT prick the tips of fingers, too many nerve endings. Aim for the side of tip. Whatever glucometer you choose, use the readings that you receive from that monitor as your baseline to accuracy. If you use different meters, it will be more difficult to pinpoint where you actually land because of the different ranges and & margin errors that each meter uses. I hope this helps someone to have a better experience and more accurate results. Stay Safe and Best of Health to YOU!
Also something to add to your comment the doctor made a mistake of leaving the blood in one finger, and using that blood for multiple test, while the ambient is contaminated already, that blood will contaminated eventually. He should have prick differents fingers for different glucometers and not using one Blood at the finger exposed in the air for many time....
Thank you doctor for taking the time to do the comparison and explaining the meaning, this was very helpful to understand what is there in market, and what to look for (cv values) etc. Thanks for helping all of us.
This is an additional info for the readers. The glucometer has different normal values they are not all the same.. The normal values depends on the calibration of the machine. You should read and check the manual included in the product. Now if you already check and they have the same normal values then you can compare them. But if you compare them without checking the normal values of each glucometer then it is useless. In RBS the normal value of Accucheck active is 60 to 180. And in FBS is 70 to 110. And for more info the back of the strip of Accucheck active there is circle there and it changes color depending on the result. It is another way or manual way of checking your result. It's like double check. After the glucometer read the result. Remove the strip and look at the back and compare the color in the strips back to the color printed in the strips container. It's like urinalysis strip after it was dip in the urine you will compare the color to the container.. looking for the PH, glucose in the urine, specific gravity and etc. It has two way in checking the result. Through machine and through strip. That's why I like Accucheck active. And also the last one is also nice..like it..

I have few questions 1) what is CV in Contour plus one and Onetouch select plus simple; 2) How many times we can use lancent needle once it is used for fasting and after meal test and 3) How long will be life of strips once bottle is opened

Doctor, according to my experience with almost a decade. Few meters are consistently accurate. 1) Abbott Freestyle (neo h) 2) Ascensia Contour Plus One 3) Roch meters (Accu check) 4) One touch. Bayer and Abbott is better.
Hello mr.prakash, Thank you for that sincere opinion. Accu check ? Are you sure of the recent machine ? Until 2 yrs back I was also a big fan of accuchek
@@dr.waseemfamilymedicinedia9076 switched to beato curv with contour plus as backup. Beato curv seems good. Very useful with the log and graph available in the app. Only thing is, it is tricky to get capillary action to draw blood with beato strips.
Contour plus one is best value... (last tested machine... )doctor's lab test values are 105&110. Contour plus had 107.second one is onetuch.third one is on call plus
Much awaited test. Congratulations! But Dr I see a flaw in this. Almost the same blood on your finger is sipped in by so many test strips in quick succession. In the process the enzyme/reagent on the tip of the test strips would have made some reactive changes in the blood on the finger as well. And this can be one of the reasons of variation in the results from meter to meter. To rule out this, it would have been better to give fresh blood to each test strip / meter. OneTouch got the best blood, others got contaminated blood. Your nurse could have put one drop of blood on a separate clean glass slide for each meter from the sample that was sent for lab test. This is my observation as a layman. Experts may comment.

Hello Sudha, The point is that not all meters are good and reliable. There are so many more things I have explained as well. Technique matters too. I can definitely tell one of the best ones. Being a social platform committing only few brands is not a good practice according to my ethics. Anyhow I can't tell my patients atleast to buy all 😂. Great scientific review thanks doctor..
I am using Nightrider BluCon for the last 8 months, and it was never so easy to keep track of my blood glucose level. Now, I can better maintain my eating and exercising routine and move towards a healthier lifestyle.
Can u suggest me a accurate glucose meter
Thanks Dr. Waseem
Contour Plus One is the best one . Right????
G1 best ..
Which is the best n giving accurate results
Dear doctor it's a good n informative video BUT you should not squeeze to get blood. It should be a free flow...if you want to reduce errors!
Hello Agarwal sir,
Couldn't afford the pricks ☺️
@@dr.waseemfamilymedicinedia9076 Ha! Ha! because checking many machines at one sitting.
@@dr.waseemfamilymedicinedia9076 Please see my comment. I have pointed out yet another flaw. And solution to both. But I do appreciate your efforts and I am grateful to you for educating us.

Which machine is good for blood Testing sir plzz rpy me
Hello md zakriya,
I am sorry, I think I have mentioned in the video.
Contour plus...
Doctor, according to my experience with almost a decade. Few meters are consistently accurate.
1) Abbott Freestyle (neo h)
2) Ascensia Contour Plus One
3) Roch meters (Accu check)
4) One touch.
Bayer and Abbott is better.
Hello mr.prakash,
Thank you for that sincere opinion.
Accu check ?
Are you sure of the recent machine ?
Until 2 yrs back I was also a big fan of accuchek
@@dr.waseemfamilymedicinedia9076 Last used Accu check 2 years back. The results were consistent.
☺️ Yes. So let's talk relevant about 2020 standards.
@@dr.waseemfamilymedicinedia9076 switched to beato curv with contour plus as backup. Beato curv seems good. Very useful with the log and graph available in the app. Only thing is, it is tricky to get capillary action to draw blood with beato strips.
Oh nice
Thanks doctor.. love you.
Contour plus one is best value... (last tested machine... )doctor's lab test values are 105&110. Contour plus had 107.second one is onetuch.third one is on call plus
Thank you for your observation and comment Anto baby
Thanks for a valid reply and opinions

Which is the best gluco meter
First of all Thank for your so nice and useful information. Secondly please tell me price of this product and how from where to get it.
Great feedback mr.gupta.
Are you sure that the tip of the strip is filled with reagent / enzyme ?
@@dr.waseemfamilymedicinedia9076 Doctor Saab, Please refer to this
www.diabetesforecast.org/2012/jul/anatomy-of-a-test-strip.html
, and kindly correct my understanding of this, if you still think otherwise. Frankly Electrochemistry is neither your domain nor mine. Sir, I am a learner and I'm grateful to you for giving us a live review that really matters. All other reviews are actually waste of time !
Right sir. Agreed. I have an idea about the strip. Sorry that I don't have time now to go through the link you sent. But anyhow the suction effect of the strip is not filled with reagent. The reagent area is attached beneath the suction port is what I remember.
Thanks for the useful and newer discussion topic
@@dr.waseemfamilymedicinedia9076 What you're saying is probably true for old-fashioned glucometers / test strips. In your test case, the Accu-Chek Active is different but all other glucometers use the sip-in type of test strips whose anatomy has been explained in my link. As per my own theoretical study of internet stuff and limited knowledge, I expect Contour Plus One to be the most accurate. Actually a professional connected with the manufacturing or design of BG test strip may enlighten us.
Exactly. In case you could reach out to someone then it will be of great help. And connect with me through Instagram or email. So that we can clarify that part and go for a new episode.
Thanks.
Nice sir.
Very helpful
Incredible!
You've done great job!
I've been using one touch for about 7 months!
I think I would stick to it!
Thanks a lot.. God Bless You..
Is contour one as accurate as contour one plus?
I guess you mean Contour plus and contour plus one.
Yes they both are similarly accurate and use same strips for operation. The glucometer shown here is contour plus one which has bluetooth while contour plus lacks that. Rest is same.
Good information! Thank you!
I think he is the same doctor to whom I had taken advice while I had COVID through mfine app ..Such a nice doctor

Contour plus Was Very Accurate as my Opinion.
Thank you so much for this video Dr. Do you have video on BP apparatus.
Hello mr.derek,
Sorry we don't have on that. Because it's difficult to compare in just one arm.
Most of the machines give a rough idea.
Nice video, But whats the point if you cant tell which one is the best ?
Is this mean none of them are good?
Hello Sudha,
The point is that not all meters are good and reliable.
There are so many more things I have explained as well.
Technique matters too.
I can definitely tell one of the best ones. Being a social platform committing only few brands is not a good practice according to my ethics.
Anyhow I can't tell my patients atleast to buy all 😂. So I specify a particular one in which I have seen reliable range results, and customer service is good.
I don't market things to make money like other youtubers.
Purely educational.
You sir, are a legend
All of us are Mr. Nilesh in one or the other. All praise to God.
Wow meaning full review thanks lot
Thanks Doctor, You have taken extreme pains to explain us.
Thanks again.
Thank you Doc.
I'm a type 1 diabetic & I've tried every single meter available on the market. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING beats Contour & OneTouch in consistency & accuracy. Period.
Contour has many models which one is best??2ndly what about caretouch?
@@shakiraazim7802 Go for Contour plus series.
Sorry, never heard of caretouch.
Stick with reputable brands if you're looking for accuracy(One touch, Contour, Accu Check, Freestyle...).
If cost is a concern then I'd suggest Dr.Morepen BG meter although don't expect great accuracy.
@boop don't ever tell accu chek as accurate. I have almost 75% accuracy issues with it currently. I accept it was very good until 2-3 yrs back. Thanks
@@dr.waseemfamilymedicinedia9076 Doctor, I request you to try the new generation models like instant, aviva. Active is based on outdated technology and is discontinued in most countries. Unfortunately, Roche thinks it's okay to dump outdated tech in India.
