  • This is what I wish I knew when ordering my Ford Bronco. MPG ratings where not out and road tests had not been done so well I had to assume a lot. Well I'm Johny ‪@Johnnyscarcarereviews‬ and I want to help make sure you don't make the mistakes I made. Having 2 Broncos definetely has allowed us to reflect and learn about what is the best Bronco model. Does the Sasquatch package create a loud abnoxious, fuel consuming Bronco? Does Sasquatch mean poor handling with thst added height? Subscribe to not miss any of our comparison videos and hit play to watch this episode of comparing Bronco models.

    I ended getting a 23 Outer Banks SASQ package with the 2.7 TT.
    Wanted the leather interior …granted I couldn’t get the sway bar disconnect with the OB package (according to the ordering dealer) but i did get the 4:70 gear with F&R lockers …in reality I highly doubt I’d ever need or use the sway bar disconnect anyway…..
    So far I’ve added the FMS tuner and a CV fabrications stainless exhaust.
    Absolutely love the truck and with the added perf mods it really moves for what it is! Also love the fact that it’s super easy to work on(mechanically wise) not fond of all the electronics but that’s the way most all newer vehicles are now days!
    Great review and like you…i wish someone could have explained more of what did and didn’t come with some of these packages for the money! With so many options most everyone was confused on all the minor additions

      Mark, that is really well said about the confusion behind the different trims and package groups.. Now badlands is the only one that has the electronic stability bar disconnect other than the raptor of course. Thank you for your kindness. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your build and your motivations. As this is helpful for the entire community here at johnny's car care and reviews. Thank you so much for taking the time to drop your comment. And I really do hope to hear many more comments from you. Also, it's great when people drop a comment even if it's just hello. Tony do t get me wrong I also like the Black Diamond sasquatched for the price but the 12 inch screen and Signature LED lights add a special touch. Also I lease so not a bothersome difference in price. If I was paying cash and holding on to the Bronco for 10 years then B.D. Sasquatch within package might have been my go to. Thank you for watching and for taking taking time to drop a comment. I appreciate it.

      Its nice to hear some good news. I originally considered the black Diamond but also wanted the signature lights. If I could do it all over again and was not leasing but instead laying cash...I'd go Sasquatch Black Diamond with mid package. I want to go doors off in the mud and top down days I want to be able to have the dust come in and not worry.

    The non-sasquatch OBX with 2.7 adv 4x4 with Lux and Tow was $47.9k US. Wheels and tires were under $2k (still under $50k).
    You missed out on the Lux package, because in bad weather, the adaptive cruise control radar can be used to see vehicles ahead that you might not be able to see in really bad conditions. Also for $309 for the RC hidden winch mount and $129 RC tow hooks, give you steel approach plates with the incapable bumper.

    Best IMO is OBX with SAS and 2.7L twin turbo, and then be sure to add modular bumper (which comes with steel bash plates) and aux switches. High package and then upgrade the audio yourself. This basically becomes a Wildtrak without a hood sticker, a great deal. If you fall within the 1% who will be mudding and hard core rock crawling REGULARLY, get a Black Diamond or Badlands for sway bar dis and vinyl seats with washout floors. Vinyl sucks in hot climates though, esp if you plan on going topless.

  • @TugHillGuy

    I opted for the Badlands because I wanted the advanced HOSS suspension, the front and rear lockers, and the StaBar disconnect. I've gotten other 4WD Fords stuck in the snow and I noticed that having locking diffs may have kept me from getting stuck or helped me get unstuck. Last year I high-centered my Sport Trac on my gravel driveway. The passenger side front and driver side rear tires spun and I couldn't go anywhere despite being in low range 4WD and with traction control engaged. The spinning tires were both a little off the ground. If I could have disconnected the stabilizer bar I think all 4 tires could have been on the ground and with the diffs locked I may have been able to get unstuck without having to lay on the snow covered ground and dig the snow out from under my truck. That was very awkward, cold and exhausting. It took me well over an hour to get unstuck.

    • @Johnnyscarcarereviews
      @Johnnyscarcarereviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point. Sasquatch models other than the Badlands end up with locking diffs front and back but your point about the stabilizer bar disconnect is great. However with all the clearance I hope getting jacked up does not occur in the forst place. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a helpful and thoughtful comment

    • @TugHillGuy
      @TugHillGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Johnnyscarcarereviews Right, with greater ground clearance it's less likely that you would get high-centered in the first place.

    I have a badlands with Sasquatch, leather, lux, and 2.7L. So you can get that in a badlands but it’s an option. I took my rock panels off and replaced them with true rock sliders that have retractable steps. I also took my rings off and had them powder coated. Having them powdered coated because it’s cheaper then buying new rings. Also on the capable bumper I added my own fog lights.

  • @LMacNeill
    @LMacNeill ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can always add manual stabilizer-bar disconnects to your Outer Banks model, if you ever choose to do some serious rock crawling. Sure, you can't just disconnect the sway-bar by pressing a button, but is that something you *really* need?
    The Bronco I ordered is an Outer Banks, with Lux, and Sasquatch, and the optional modular steel front bumper and bash-plate (like what's on the Badlands you have there). I wanted the Lux because I *had* to have the adaptive cruise control and that was the only way to get it, unfortunately. I'd have stuck with the High package if I could've ordered the Adaptive Cruise a-la-carte.
    I also got the upfitter Aux switches, so I plan to add some fog-lights myself -- the modular steel bumper deletes the foglights, as you noted on your badlands. Those Aux switches are only $195 -- worth every penny, IMHO.
    I'm scheduled to pick up my new Bronco this Saturday. Can't wait!!!

    Not a popular opinion I have, but after seeing all of the interior colors/materials in person at this point…..the roast interior available on the outer banks is the best interior hands down, though it doesn’t go well with some of the exterior colors. But Cactus and roast looks amazing. Of course, I understand it was someone else’s build you bought, so I understand the navy. Still a beautiful truck.

    • @Johnnyscarcarereviews
      @Johnnyscarcarereviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We agree with you. ROAST is awesome. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment. I love Blue grey but would prefer it with a different exterior color. If I could only switch the interiors....which makes us wonder why black interior is not offered in Outerbanks. Both roast and blue grey don't work with every exterior color so it can kick you out of the Outerbanks Sasquatch build.

    It sounds like neither of your Broncos is quite equipped the way you would have it if you had your druthers. Is that the case? I'm 60 and retired and I'm less inclined to go without creature comforts and other stuff I would like to have than when I was younger. I'm getting a 4DR Badlands, MIC, non-Squatch, 2.3, auto, lux, leather, towing, roof rack and factory ppf. I ordered the Bronco floor and cargo area covers and door and roof panel (front and middle) storage bags. I'm getting the powder-coated steel bumper, which I read can support a winch and comes with fog lamps. I like that the front leather seats in the 4DR are power and fully adjustable. I like that the back seat in the 4DR leather has a drop down center armrest with 2 cup-holders for back-seat passengers. My Bronco will be my only vehicle and I don't want to have to drive everywhere on 35" tires. I don't plan to off-road for a hobby. I'm getting a Bronco to be able to get to remote places to hike, mountain-bike, canoe and kayak. When I finally get my Bronco I'm pretty sure I'll like it!

    • @Johnnyscarcarereviews
      @Johnnyscarcarereviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      George thabk you for watching and for the feedback. I think you will love your Bronco. My outerbanks is only missing the steel bumper, grest for winch, accidents and looks. However, I am rather certain steel bumper does not come with fog lamps but that can easily be added.

    • @TugHillGuy
      @TugHillGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Johnnyscarcarereviews By powder-coated steel bumper I mean the new one that comes standard on the Badlands and the Black Diamond as of 2022. I'm not referring to the heavy-duty modular steel bumper like you have on your 2021 Badlands. I think your referred to the new bumper as being steel + plastic, but I'm not aware of there being any plastic on it. I think it's a good choice for people who want a combination of the fog lamps and pleasant appearance of the plastic Bronco bumper along with the ruggedness and durability of the heavy-duty modular bumper.

    Base Bronco with Sasquatch and auxiliary switches is the best deal. The OBX is what my daily use would sync up with but without the Sasquatch package, the OBX is way to pedestrian. Once you add the Sasquatch package to the OBX, the price makes it more sensible to go with the Bad Lands. The interior options of the OBX also made my choice of the Bad Lands easier. The Black Marine vinyl interior is so much more appealing. My two door BL is scheduled for late March.

    Both interiors are vinyl, the OBX is "leather trimmed vinyl" which insinuates that the majority of the seat is vinyl. I went with cloth for that reason, I was not going to pay $2k for vinyl.

      Excellent point as always my friend. Thank you for helping out. I can assure everyone ths the part we sit on is leather. It feels thicker and a little softer but honestly you and Marie are right, the Marine grade vinyle is great and I just sat in a cloth and it's nice too. I'm not dissapointed in any way with the seats.

    Great video! I reserved a Bronco on day 1 when they opened and this dealer stole my reservation and purposefully mis-ordered the car so I would be forced to buy at retail for a $20k markup. They ordered a manual transmission (don't drive manual) car with zero options on my reservation and called me to say "the vehicle you ordered is here". I have been trying to get ahold of someone with Ford on Twitter, via Email, via Corporate Office, and they couldn't care less and won't even respond.

      I'm sorry to hear that Robert. That would seem like a very difficult situation to live with and try to untangle. Did you ever sit down with the dealer or did they just convert your reservation to an order without talking to you? Have you tried Customer service at Ford? I would hope they could coordinate with a dealer that will not charge you Mark up. I'm surprised ypur local dealer didn't apologize and then order it properly with a priority code 10 and no mark up. From there they could also ask the Brand Manager if their is any way Ford code lower the priority code. I hope customer service can point you to a dealer who will charge msrp and properly put in your order. Sorry to hear the bad news and I wish you luck moving forward.

      @@Johnnyscarcarereviews Thanks, Johnny! I was not able to sit down with the dealer, they just converted it to an order on their own without speaking to me. I am hopeful for a good resolution here but it kind of puts a damper on it.

      No kidding. It remains your reservation and federal policies need to be put in place to avoid over msrp pricing

      I'd argue that it is awfully nice stepping out of my Bronco at the gym and getting compliments and looks towards the Bronco.
