Great points. Like you said. First model year. So. Jeep has a big advantage of being upgrading and fixing their problems for years and years. It won’t be too long. I’m waiting for good lift for mine. Have same set up but hard top.
Nice review - always very thoughtful. My humble opinion is that when my wife and I are offroad, even on easy trails, you never know what you'll encounter, and we want the most capable vehicle as an insurance policy. We'll stick with the Rubicon, with it solid axles and rear and front lockers with our Warn winch - awesome right out of the box.
I was between this and the 4Runner and I ended up ordering a 2023 Bronco. I’m not gonna do any rock crawling but I’m looking forward to hitting some nice trails with the family and traveling in it.
Thanks for your honest thoughts on the Bronco Brad. With the Bronco being a first-year rollout, there are undoubtedly (perhaps more than I would like) a few kinks that need to be ironed out and reworked. Looking forward to seeing how you choose to mod this Bronco, and also super excited about the new vehicle addition to the family.
We had a 2010 Jeep JKU that we traded for a mid-size SUV when we became parents, but one supposedly off-road CUV (with a CVT nonetheless), then lifted wagon, and now a mid-size pickup later, I’m definitely getting back into solid axles front and rear again within the next 2-3 years. I thought that maybe the 4Runner or new Bronco would be the answer-and as capable as this new Bronco is, it’s back to a Wrangler or Gladiator for me.
@sneakypete187 out of the 8 vehicles between my wife and I since 2015, we have tried to get some of the capabilities back that the Wrangler possessed with the following: ‘15 Honda Pilot AWD and ‘20 Subaru Forester Sport. The Pilot was actually surprisingly capable off road with A/T tires. The Forester is great as a ski trip car, but anything beyond some of the AWD designated roads that you would find in National or State Parks and it’s out of its element despite what people show on social media.
The trail markers are awesome. They are not just a tie down point or for branches (So-Cal has a ton of mountain trails), they are to help mark the corners of the vehicle while off roading when you are going too fast for 360 camera. There is also a TON of cool aftermarket parts for it now (I know my comment is 2 years after you made the video) they can be turned into running lights/parking lights amber or white. There is a delete kit. Change the colors. Antenna or go-pro mounts.
Definitely prefer the hard top, especially as you can take that off in separate pieces. Same open air, but better quality and maybe a bit more work, but I think that’s worth it.
Your video made me glad that I chose to go with the High option package and hard top for my Bronco. For a winch, check out the Rough Country hidden winch. It's designed to clear both the sensor, and the front camera, and gives you a slightly better approach angle. I'm in SoCal as well, so if you see a Carbon Gray Badlands Sasquatch tooling around the IE, give a wave,
I've had the Bronco Wildtrak on order forever with no VIN number. Last week I purchased the 4xe High Altitude. It arrives this coming Thursday. I haven't cancelled my Bronco so I'll have time to fully assess the 4xe. Mine will strictly be street use with an occasional camping trip. Love your channel!
I'm so glad I had the patience to wait the extra time for the hard top. Not only does it look substantially better overall, it's quieter inside and it's definitely a better quality overall. Also, soft tops in FL have a very bad habit of fading quickly. Let's also understand that those "grab handles" aren't meant for you to use to get into the vehicle. They're for use when you're on a trail.
We too are Jeep and Bronco owners ( we received ours in February with a hardtop). Also waiting to see a winch mount solution but this is my wife’s so the Sasquatch is tall enough and we’ve already done Ocotillo and Anza in it , we’ll wait on Pinyon Mountain until we se others do it . Be paying close attention to what you do to your Bronco, keep up the good work!
Great content. Thx! I'm about to pull the trigger on a Bronco Raptor purchase and I'm doing as much research as possible, so appreciate the education. I'm retired Army (36 yrs avn )
For what it's worth, I installed the DV8 MTO front bumper, a winch, and the DV8 ACC module relocation bracket myself. The ACC has since worked perfectly with shockingly zero issues and no apparent need for recalibration. This particular method relocates the ACC module to a spot on the upper driver's side behind the grille. Also worth mentioning I have no experience doing this kind of stuff, so I'm pretty confident you'd have no trouble whatsoever if you so chose. Going into it I had absolutely had doubts that the ACC relocation would work, but it sure does.
Just started watching the channel within the last few days and i’m loving your content! I love my Jeep, but she’s pretty old so my family just got a Bronco and it’s inspired us to take some more trips! Loving the vids, can’t wait for more
Thanks for sharing!!! I have the same build, but in Iconic Silver with leather. I’ll definitely stay tuned for your upcoming mods. Happy overlanding!!!
great review, thanks for exploring the little day to day issues that matter along side all the amazing things about the Bronco, super helpful for your average buyer!
I agree with the top issues. I just went to the dealership yesterday and looked at it. The side windows had waves or ripples and seemed loose. There were a few other issues as well. They were selling it for $40875 plus $15000 over because they’re “hard to get and in demand”. I told them not from me, for $55000 I have higher expectations.
I actually love the front hood mount option for limb risers. East coast here. Can't stand the soft top set up on the Bronco. Can't open the rear window while driving. The fact that the sides are not attached in a way to keep out wind, rain snow, dust etc is BS.
Great review! If your looking for a modular bumper winch that doesn't mess with the camera or the sensor, Rough Country will be releasing their Hidden winch for 2.7/mod bumper soon. I just installed one on my 2.3 but the 2.7 is coming.
I’ll be interested to see how they do that as the inter cooler on the 2.7 is where the winch goes on the RC 2.3 hidden winch kit. I looked into it pretty thoroughly to see if I could modify the one for the 2.3. I ended up getting the BAMF front bumper and love it but I really wasn’t too happy to replace the modular bumper as it’s nice and solid. But I needed a winch.
Thanks for your honest review. I’m intrigued with the Ford Bronco, but am considering waiting for the new Toyota 4Runner expected 1H 2024. Ford should be thankful as you point out real deficiencies that can be corrected to meaningfully improve the already solid Ford Bronco.
I am taco and 4runner guy but i enjoy your videos. Very informative and loving your unbiased review though you're owning a jeep and loving it. Awesome stuff.
First thing I did on my bronco: vynil wrap to protect the paint and protective film on all windows (and windshield) to avoid cracks. It has worked great As for the winch: bronco everglades, I assume that solution will be available for purchase in the aftermarket
Great review as always . My big issue, make that huge issue- is the obscene markup on BRONCOS especially when Jeeps can still be bought below MSRP! Anyone who pays $6-10k over msrp on a Bronco is in trouble when they sell it in a few years and are so upside down they´ll need to fork over money to unload it. I bought a GLadiator loaded to the gills for 4% under msrp and maybe in two years may consider a BRONCO if they fix their first year issues and reclaim senses on prices .
I'm actually really surprised the aftermarket hasn't made some accessories to solve of these things you've pointed out yet but that's a weird on the cruise control thing I'm surprised ford put it their without offering solutions to winch mounting on their packages as we know exactly what folks are going to do with these, I'm surprised I haven't seen a bronco with a best top brand soft top yet this is what I love about watching you I like your honest opinions
I know you would have something extra to carry in the back, but you could always install a hitch receiver and mount a winch on a hitch plate with a 2" arm. At least that way you would have a winch if you need one.
Those are one time use bolts and yes if you remove them buy replacements first. You are absolutely right about a hang up point, definitely report to ford for a possible engineering change.
Totally agree. I only do moderate trails and the Bronco is awesome for this. I'm not a mechanic and dont want the expense of Difficult trails. If you want to do hard core get a jeep.
When the first reviews were coming out i was pretty impressed with some of the things ford improved on from Jeep's design. But also I almost immediately noticed some of the bronco's short comings. Brad hit the nail on the head about the lack of a solid front axle, the horrendous placement of those bolts on the lower control arms, and the thoughtlessly designed soft top. I actually consider myself lucky that I can't afford a bronco right now, hopefully there will be an updated version by then.
It’s a first year vehicle 🤷♂️ if that’s the only issues that you have that’s pretty good. When they finally beef up the ifs like the Toyotas it will be better than jeep. I think that’s what truly makes jeep guys shake in their boots
The IFS makes the vehicle way more comfortable on those long trips but there is a trade off in durability. Each system is a strength where the other is a weakness or liability. I think the review is spot on though. I'm honestly beginning to have doubts about both the hard and soft tops. Much needed improvement in both.
I personally would chose the bronco over my jeep. it’s more comfortable and does great with 37s and a slight lift I haven’t gotten stuck yet and I hammer on it pretty hard.
I think that it's even in competition says a lot for what Ford did. It's also very often a lot of serious offroaders who like their jeeps over it too, and they show a shot of their jeep and they have 40 inch wheels and 50k of mods and lifts on the thing. Yeah no kidding it isn't doing that, and of course it doesn't have the range of mods that the jeep does, but for those of us who don't want to mod so heavily, at least not yet, it's the best performer I can see on paper from an OEM purchase. I just can't wait to get mine.
@@breaddrinker Jeep also offers 35s from the factory, so I’m not sure if it’s fair to say the bronco is the most capable stock vehicle... solid axles just offer a level of reliability and capability on the trail that ifs just can’t reach. It’s not about a brand, any brand that offers solid axles I would say the same thing
@@AustinH7 I'm not brand proud at all. Please don't think I'm just harping on to one.. In fact in my situation I'm willing to be swept away, and I still have my eye on the Grenadier, and the new 4runner on the horizon while my never-ending Bronco order comes along.. I've got my own particular list of criteria, and the jeep.. That of course, isn't to take away what you get out of it. I'm steering at things I know I'm going to need in my situation.
I’m loving my JLURD but find myself always wanting to order a 392 to replace it. I’m interested to hear your comparison between your old diesel and your new 392!
I had a pretty built up 2019 JLUR that I traded in for the 392. Wasn’t a diesel though, but even though I haven’t had a chance to drop $30k in the 392 yet like I had in my 2019, I love the 392 and no remorse.
I was thinking maybe I'd want a Bronco instead of a Jeep because of the less driving fatigue, but some of these cons are actually quite substantial and now I'm rethinking.
Thanks for being honest on Bronco vs Jeep. If I was stuck on a dirt road, I hope a Bronco stops to help. If I was stuck in Moab, I hope a Jeep stops to help.
Great review. Personally I love the soft top. Easy on and off and the wiggly windows don’t bother me but I can see how others would have a problem. For the rear lift take a look at IAG rear hood assist. Easy install and raises it a bit more. Still two hands to open but one pop and no need to set the bar yourself.
I think it's perfect for me. I was really dragging my heels over a 4runner purchase. Just so much old and sensible for such a lot of money, while also being somewhat lackluster offroad compared to the heavy hitters. The Jeep, has that slightly awkward fit to a family. The comfort and reliability isn't quite enough for me to throw such funds at it and justify it as a sensible purchase. Landrover.. Twice as much money, and even more unreliable. Great on road, but if we're being honest, it's really only meant for on road now. I was even holding out for the Ineos Grenadier until the Bronco wooed me. The Bronco fits right between and in the Jeep and 4runner pile, with all the modern tech of the Landrover, without the reliability issues. I too went with the big options, and it maxes out around 62k. I think it's a bargain, and a very clever, well thought out inclusion that's scared all of the competing manufacturers. It won me over after all, and I started from a place of complete skepticism. I also once owned a Ford, and wasn't planning on ever going back, but.. I see what they've done, and i see what they're offering here. The oil filters on top of the engine bay.. Accessible plugs.. I think they have listened well and are being rewarded with a runaway success and a giant backlog of orders to fill. I'm still waiting on my order. Effectively the same as yours. I thought long and hard on adaptive, and still decided to keep it. I also kept the hardtop, because or some of the issues you've encountered. I don't think I'll be removing it much. I'm starting to see promises of reliable ACC bumpers spring up. There's one or two videos now and some interesting takes on low slung hidden winches. If Toyota wants to lure me back with it's updated 4runner, I am still listening, but.. I don't know. It would have to be very surprising at this point.
I hear you on the 4Runner. I have a 5th gen, it makes for a good daily driver and I bought it before the Bronco was a thing and the used car market went insane. I bought it in 2019 when it was 6 years old and it's actually worth a little more than what it was then, haha. So I think I got a good deal on it, and it was an excellent value. Going out and buying a new one today, no I couldn't justify spending that much money on one, because it IS old tech. It is proven though, and they do last forever. I've put 50,000 miles on mine in 3 years and have had zero mechanical issues. I think for the next generation 4Runner, Toyota could have a hit if all they did was copy the Bronco feature for feature, with Toyota reliability and a fixed steel roof. That would be my ideal vehicle. Of course, no matter what Toyota does with the 4Runner, the fanboys will still buy them. Literally the only way they can destroy it is to go unibody with it.
Brad, been watching your content for several years and love it. I’ve had a similarly equipped BL with Sasquatch since October and love it. I also have a JK and love that too. I generally agree with your comments but differ on the tailgate. Maybe because I’m 6’ but I love the quick prop up vs my JK and having to unzip and flip it up onto the roof. I find it so much faster. And I think you’ll be happier once you lift it as it’ll be 3” higher. I did the 3” Zone off-road lift on mine with 35” Cooper Discoverer MT’s and find it feels even better off-road now than pre lift. It feels a little more supple and definitely helps with clearance all around. I did the BAMF bumper and Badlands Apex 12k winch. The parking sensors and ACC relo have worked great and the camera isn’t obstructed at all and like you I love that camera so didn’t want to mess with it. I get your point on the ACC relo and do tend to agree but I did it and it’s worked the same so far! I did make a simple wooden deck (covered in matching auto carpet) for the rear so the back is level with the rear seats and it swings right up out of the way so you can get to the stock floor storage. It created space for storage under it where I keep a portable camp table, camp chair, axe, folding shovel, recovery snatch strap and my soft shackles. So that’s actually pretty cool. I’ve slept back there a few nights so far and it’s been great! I installed the ARB dual under the hood and routed an air outlet down into the front bumper and set it on Aux 6. Also have added pod lights so far. Keep up the great content!
Thanks for being a long time follower! I think you're right, lifting it will help for sure, but I'm still worried about how it squishes up the side windows when open and what that will look like 2+ years from now.
@@TrailRecon ya me too honestly. I’m actually hoping some aftermarket will offer replacement windows at some point that aren’t all wavy like the current ones.
@@Malc664 I watch those guys too and did see their soft top (fastback) but I think that’s a whole separate soft top vs just replacement rear side windows? I would just be interested in replacement windows. I actually like the soft top but thanks for pointing it out!
I've been waiting nearly two years for my Bronco. I opted for the hardtop and Ford "paused" the production of the hardtop for awhile. Hopefully that gets resolved soon. I hate to say it but Brad, we got the exact same Bronco. I am going to delete the Lux package and go with vinyl seats. I chose the blue that they discontinued so I went with Red. But, oh well, we will probably never wheel in the desert at the same time. Anyway, great video. Thanks for your opinion.
Larry, just wanted to point out that I got my BL 2.7 with SQ and Lux and I absolutely love the Liz package. I have the vinyl seats too. I got the velocity blue with only the soft top. Originally ordered the dual top but was told it was holding up production so I went down to the dealer and switched it to soft top only (they had changed it to hard top only!!!?) and 3 days later I got my VIN #. Good luck getting yours. I’m absolutely loving mine.
Do you know the production status of the hardtop? I don't want to wait anymore. I wanted the lightning blue but that was discontinued for 2022. Thanks for your input.
@@larrybriggs2920 unfortunately no I don’t. I originally heard hard tops won’t be available for separate purchase until ‘23 so that’s what my head is set on. I am generally very happy with the soft top but would like a hard top for winter but I’m fine as is for a bit. But I do recommend the Lux package! Good luck!
Pretty impressive for the first run. Hero has been building wranglers since before I was born. I’m thinking with enough time and continued interest in the bronco that Ford will continue to dial it in. 👍
Great video, as always. I also have a Badlands Sasquatch, so I’m excited to see what you have in store for the Bronco. Regarding the back, I recommend the IAG EZ-Lift. I added it to my soft top and I now I can open the back with one hand (one latch at a time) and it automatically lifts open (higher than the prop rod would give you). I also added struts to my hood - another great addition that skips the prop rod and adds ease and convenience.
Nice write up, I am not a fan of the new bronco. I was excited to see them release the bronco again and was contemplating buying one briefly. When it was released as an IFS vehicle I was turned off by it, I’ll stick with my JK and CJ.
The soft top looks a bit janky. The Bronco would look good with a color-matched hardtop. Addictive Desert Design bumpers have sensor-friendly options. After going out 4 wheeling, especially on longer trips, you should check the bolts under the vehicle, and with all the flexing going on trail riding as you mentioned maybe even check things under the hood.....hoses, wire connections, etc.
Take note ... when the "typical JEAP enthusiast" goes around criticizing any stock competition, the "typical JEAP enthusiast" is criticizing from the advantaged viewpoint of a JEAP that's not remotely stock. Stock to stock, with simply the cliché solid axle difference, will NOT make the JEAP in any noticeable way superior to the BRONCO ... that's pure Bravo Sierra
I’m liking your bronco videos. I myself am waiting on my Bronco Everglades. I know it only comes in a 2.3 liter but I had the 2020 ford Ranger with the 2.3 liter and it did fine out on the trails. I traded it in for my wife’s Bronco sport outer banks because I wanted the bronco outer banks but like I said I changed it to the Everglades addition. I do plan on lifting it and putting 37’s on it.

I thought that maybe the 4Runner or new Bronco would be the answer-and as capable as this new Bronco is, it’s back to a Wrangler or Gladiator for me.
I had a 2 door TJ that I traded for a JKU when I had a new baby, so much happier with it.
I recommend the best top trek top for the bronco, it fixes a lot of your issues with that cheap factory top. Great channel, very informative.
Hope you got the extended coverages
"We were pitching a little bit on some of those obstacles". 1:52, literally a few degrees from rolling over lol.
It’s a really nice Wrangler homage.
What a great, objective, and honest review. Thanks Brad.
Great content. Thx!
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Bronco Raptor purchase and I'm doing as much research as possible, so appreciate the education.
I'm retired Army (36 yrs avn )
1:53 - jaw dropped / heart stopped. WOW...... new car, too!!!
Impressed with the close fit of the body panels.
When you said low bid I laughed out loud because like you, it reminded me of my Navy days 🤣
Dang it I like your overviews... and off-road trips, and commentary.... as always, thank you for sharing.
Love your honest feedback, it’s an amazing vehicle! But not without its flaws!
Great review! Keep it on 35s though! The inner and outer tie rods will thank you.
Loving the vids, can’t wait for more
Great honest video! This is why I watch your channel, Have a great weekend.
Thank you for this detailed review. It’ll make more sense for me to get a truck
Quality content as ALWAYS
Thanks for sharing!!! I have the same build, but in Iconic Silver with leather. I’ll definitely stay tuned for your upcoming mods. Happy overlanding!!!
Whew man you were close to rolling that bronco my god. It made my stomach hurt just watching it
LOL! Mine too!
I’m sure you’re already aware, the sensor for adaptive cruise control on the 392 is in the windshield. So no issues with your winch install there.
Jeep did it right!
There’s no replacement for displacement, or experience. Jeep has both.
I would take the 4Runner over the Bronco. Thanks for the great video to give us the real low down!
great review, thanks for exploring the little day to day issues that matter along side all the amazing things about the Bronco, super helpful for your average buyer!
I hear ya, that's why I think it should be an option and not standard.
Great review! If your looking for a modular bumper winch that doesn't mess with the camera or the sensor, Rough Country will be releasing their Hidden winch for 2.7/mod bumper soon. I just installed one on my 2.3 but the 2.7 is coming.
I'll be keeping my eye out for that!
Great video as usual Brad! My Badlands Sasquatch with hard top is scheduled for production in two weeks! Can’t wait!
That is a GREAT review. Appreciate the honesty!
First review I saw that talked about the rear door situation. Good review mate
I'm really new on this channel, but what a great review on this Bronco. Compliments for your experience and thanks for sharing here.
Thanks for your honest review. I’m intrigued with the Ford Bronco, but am considering waiting for the new Toyota 4Runner expected 1H 2024. Ford should be thankful as you point out real deficiencies that can be corrected to meaningfully improve the already solid Ford Bronco.
good valuable feed back i hope your seeing this Ford, great vid...
It has worked great
As for the winch: bronco everglades, I assume that solution will be available for purchase in the aftermarket
1:53 man that was seriously inches away from flipping on its side!
At 1:55 it looked like it was about to tip over I would have shat myself 😂
Loved your going through the Bronco…good and not so good..it is all good to educate us about buying any vehicle! 🥾🥾💕
There is a Bestop install on the TFL Bronco. They hate the rattles of the hardtop and swapped it out for the Bestop.
The tie downs are useful with the soft top, a kayak will be fine strapped on up top. I put a mattress on top one time.
Would love a vid of the lights and everything being installed!!
I was thinking maybe I'd want a Bronco instead of a Jeep because of the less driving fatigue, but some of these cons are actually quite substantial and now I'm rethinking.
Nice one, thanks Brad, pity Ford won’t sell the Bronco in Australia.
Thanks for your review. You talked me out of getting one!
yes this video confirms all my fear about the soft top. never get a soft top.
Great review coming from a long-time Wrangler owner.
Thanks for being honest on Bronco vs Jeep. If I was stuck on a dirt road, I hope a Bronco stops to help. If I was stuck in Moab, I hope a Jeep stops to help.
6:00 Classic Jeep guy opening non-jeep hood lol
Great review. Although I disagree on the Hood attachments, I love them!
Nice honest review.
Own more than 10 years. Toyota
Trade in within 10 years. Any brand is good imo
I’m sorry but you can’t complain about alleged jeeps reliability issues when you bought a first year vehicle from Ford 🤔
@@AustinH7 true, but it doesn't make the known jeep unreliability go away.
Nor the Land Rover's.
The Jeep V6 is probably one of the most reliable engines out there right now.
Great video Brad! Cant wait to see your 392 Bronco :)
Excellent thoughts as usual! I would love to see those 37’s paired with 74weld portals :)
@@craigduffy7879 TFL has an aftermarket replacement from "Best Top" on their Bronco and it's pretty good.
The glass company that installed your windshield probably forgot to plug the washer hose back into the cowl
I'd like to see a long term similar review of the Land Rover Defender. Nice honest view of the Bronco.
Great video... Lifestyle Offroad makes a great winch bumper for sensors and it tucks it close to the grill for a nice look.
Now that the aftermarket is beginning to catch up on the Bronco i wish you still had yours to see where you'd take it
I love how easy my soft top is to put up and down on my '21 gladiator. The hard top is easy to put on and off.
Thanks for the info! I think it confirms in me a leaning towards a Jeep rather than a Bronco if I am able to trade in my '07 Frontier SE someday.
I think the Everglades is a great package!
I have one Question, when is the 392 going to be delivered?
