We just repaired my girlfriends laptop with this video, we found that it was easy to take off the rivets with a exacto blade(scalple). no need to replace the rivets!
Very helpful, thanks. But do you not need to try to use some of the rivets to secure the key keyboard in place - maybe not all of them but maybe try to use some of what remains of the plastic rivets, perhaps with a sharp tip of a soldering iron to secure it in place?
Learn from my mistake: Scratch the rivets off as it is described here. Do NOT use a soldering iron to remove the rivets! This will melt and shorten the plastic pins even more and your melted plastic will not be able to reach it to stick to it anymore. The result is an uneven keyboard in my case :( Recommendation: Think about buying a new keyboard all together with the case. Its not that much more expensive. That way you wont need to do this tricky plastic melting part.
