    OMG! I'm with everyone here, this is the best tutorial 'EVER', as I desperately need to replace the upper casing of my Lenovo Ideapad 330s, and this video provides the easiest, simplest to follow step-by-step instructions. 11/10

    Great tutorial - makes changing the keyboard a breeze. A top down cam would be great for future projects though. Thanks for the effort!

    Fantastic tutorial. Changed the keyboard on my wife's Lenovo tonight. Soldering iron was tricky but not impossible. Comp works again after reassemble and power up, and keyboard works great. Many thanks!!!!!

    Thank you! this helped me a ton last night. Organizing/labeling all those screws was the key to a quick reassembly. It took me a couple of hours but it was definitely worth it. With the keyboard replacement, ram and hard drive upgrade, it's almost like I have a brand new computer.

    thanks for this video, i had the same problem except the keyboard, and i even had the same model of the laptop, and your video really helped me. This was the first time i did something like this, previously i only changed batteries and fans, and thermals pastes, but now this too. Everything went right, and it took me around 1.5 hours. thanks again

    Thank you so much. I got a 'cannot connect to keyboard' error in the bios and.. well.. thought it might be a loose cable, and it'd be as easy as popping the back and ressetting it. I was wrong. And I know when I'm out of my depth. Thank you!

    Nice tutorial! A close up of the parts especially when reassembling would be helpful. I replaced the keyboard but the touchpad isn't working . cable seems to be in place. Any suggestuons?

    Great video tutorial, detailed and accurate.
    I would like to understand something, where to buy the pins to re-weld the new keyboar on the body of the frame that holds the keyboard and the rest of the components assembled.
    I am looking everywhere, I don't know the name and I don't know what to look for.
    Thanks for sharing, God bless you., Videos of this genre are rare.

    Great walkthrough. I appreciate the explanations and reasoning for why you are doing what you are doing. Any recommendations on tools to buy? I like your screwdriver set and the magnetic board. Thanks!

      If you really are going to be repairing electronics or other small gadgets a lot, we do recommend an IFixIt kit. (Though we have never been sponsored by them) Their kits just seem to have all the little bits that you will need, though you can find other kits out there, the little red kit that was in the comes from Manards. It has 4 Philips, 4 slotted, and 4 Torx bits. This is enough to get you started, but for other devices, such as Apple or Nintendo devices, you won't have all the bits needed.

    What are the mini 2 cables next to the battery charger plug? I think I removed them from somewhere but can't figure out where from

    • @RedefinedEntertainment
      @RedefinedEntertainment  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The two cables, one black, and the other white, that come from the hinge? They go onto the wireless card the small rectangle card that gets slotted in at the top of the board near the hinge. These cables can be tricky to get to reconnect as they just push down onto little circles.

    Hi. I want to replace my Lenovo Ideapad 330S-15ARR Screen Display. But I wanna make sure the pin's socket to the motherboard is 40. I already know that the pin's socket to the screen is 30. Do you know if those values are right ? I mean,
    30 Pin connector = Screen
    40 pin connector = Motherboard
    Btw, nice video.

    • @RedefinedEntertainment
      @RedefinedEntertainment  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Yes the LCD connector on the motherboard should be 40 pin. This is because it does both the display and the webcam.

  • @alinuxuser42
    @alinuxuser42 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey there, great video! Will definitely watch it again as I'm replacing my laptop's palmrest :)
    I've got one question though: if the palmrest is the faulty part and the keyboard works fine, will it be possible to transfer the keyboard assembly to the new palmrest unit without destroying the keyboard?
    Thanks in advance

    • @RedefinedEntertainment
      @RedefinedEntertainment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, this same process should totally work for keeping the keyboard intact and replacing the plastic palm rest. In the video I take and replace the keyboard with a different one, but the process of taking it out did not break my keyboard and it shouldn't break anyone yours either. So all you would have to do is the same process but keeping the keyboard and changing the plastic rest piece. Good luck!!

    How can you attach the keyboard without the protruding plastic rivets of the keyboard shell? Can I use glue?

    • @RedefinedEntertainment
      @RedefinedEntertainment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use glue to attach it, but you will want to make sure it bonds to the plastic and the chassis. If it doesn't hold well It shouldn't be too bad as a lot of components are mounted right behind it holding the keys in place. There might just be some unwanted movement of the keys in relation to the plastic shell. This is why melting the plastic back down is the best, because it is part of the chassis.

    Hi! It was an excellent weel explained tutorial, my ideapad 330s 15ikb has some problems with letters G and H (and sometimes ESC), so I think it's time to replace it... My version is No backlit, but when I opened (for a ram upgrade) I saw it has a slot for cable that says (LED) so I assume it supports a backlit keyboard... Another issue I have is that I'm based in Panama (Central America) and I'm thinking now that I have to replace the keyboard, improve the laptop with a backlit AND spanish layout one... Would it works? And main question... Would it fit?

    • @RedefinedEntertainment
      @RedefinedEntertainment  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I want to say that it should fit from what I have researched, but things can be slightly different and look almost exactly the same. Though from a manufacturing perspective, it would be the best for them to just be able to change out one part for different regions, rather than more plastic molds or manufacturing processes.

    • @RedefinedEntertainment
      @RedefinedEntertainment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes! It does appear that the connector that is needed on the motherboard should be on that model. Just need to get the keyboard with a backlight and it should have a second smaller ribbon cable for the backlight.

    Okay, nevermore a Lenovo laptop in my life, to replace a keyboard you need literally dismeber it, it is also need melt plastic, it's patently obvious they do it in that way to force the people buying a newone. What a shame!

    • @RedefinedEntertainment
      @RedefinedEntertainment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a shame! Its even more a shame when you learn that almost all laptops made today use the exact same method of plastic rivets to hold the keyboard to the chassis.
