The Alfa Romeo Giulia is among the best handling sports sedans you can buy, and the Quadrifoglio drives that point home with a 505-horsepower, Ferrari-derived V6 engine. However, at well over $80,000, it's not what you'd call "affordable". However, there's another car in the Giulia lineup that uses some of the Quadrifoglio's tricks, and it's $25,000 less expensive to boot. Check out the new Giulia Estrema!

The Q4 is faster when launching due to the AWD; 5.1 vs 5.6 claimed by Alfa with a lot of owners getting into the high 4s. Plenty quick. Items you’ll be in the shop for are electronic such as infotainment or a leak on the timing chain cover that’s repaired around 20-30k. Get a MOPAR MaxCare warranty that covers the vehicle up to 8yrs/125k miles and enjoy the drive with peace of mind.

20-30K for leak repair? Did you really mean to say at 20 to 30,000 miles when it needed repair?

Tommy and Andre, Thanks for bringing an interesting version of the Giulia!! It has plenty of zip, great breaking, and all of the suspension goodies for a lot of fun in the canyons. So many people want to be blown away by a car, but this version calls on skill to make the full use of what it HAS. Sweet look, great dynamics, and a motor that baits you into working with it. Thanks again!!

The 4-cyl is the best all around Giulia. In AWD form, you can rip to 60 in 4.8/4.9 and cruise at 75 on the hwy for hours getting 36 mpg. Telepathic handling that is second only to Porsche and real butter soft Italian leather seats at a price Benz and BMW only give you vinyl.

I have the RWD TI Lusso with the wider QV wheels, and I've found that the best rpm to launch from is about 2,500 2,800 without the ESC kicking in, I usually average just over 5sec 0-60 mph. Because of all of the electronic nannies, you really have to be adept with the car to squeeze out optimum performance.

  • @groosbro1

We have a '21 Stelvio, and so far it's been great! In Dynamic mode it will hold gears to redline and keep out of the higher gears until you are cruising.
I also read somewhere that it's limited to 5500 rpm because of emissions according to the engineer being interviewed, otherwise it could make well over 350 hp.

Better than the Quad? No. Definitely not. They're similar, but the 2.0 just feels lighter weighted. The Quad steering is a bit heavier, but has more feel. Once to get used to it, you trust the Quad more at the limit. I've owned both.

For a car that bridges the gap between the base model and the high performance model, one would have expected that it gets more power and a different engine. Maybe the 2.9 V6 detuned to ~300-400hp. The lack of extra power makes this look like an appearance package, and we've had too much of appearance packages with luxury car brands these days.

I agree in some ways - but I test drove the Audi S5 Sportback, M340i and C43 and in the end I'm getting a Giulia even though its down by 100hp on the Merc and BMW and 70hp on the Audi. Drive one and you will understand. Unless you are launching your call all day long 0-100 times don't really matter, and even though the BMW will pull from say 80km/h to 120 km/h faster, it's not enough of a difference to erase the incredible driving experience of the Giulia. The Alfa also just looks so much better.

It does well in a straight, but thats not the true way to test a car from alfa romeo. Find a windy road and you will see what the car can really do. drive the car with the column paddles around turns and you will forget about straight aways all together. You could also get a simple chip tune and a downpipe for the giulia q4 and get aruond 4.5 0-60 for under 2k total.

I also feel like unless you get the Quadrifogllio, maintenance will still never be as expensive as the Germans, especially since they're owned by Chrysler now... The only real big thing to "worry" about in these cars with the 2.0t is the $250 oil changes.

Because it's not a drag racer. The base engine still makes 280 HP, 300 lbs ft torque, and the suspension and chassis still drive great in the mountain twisties. Not to mention it starts at almost half of what the quadrifoglio is and that's important when we're dealing with Italian sports car engine reliability.

Just so you know, the 500+ HP QV version costs some $25k more than this Estrema, but that is in line with its German competitors.

  • @JLUOffRoad

Not worth 57k, specially when you factor in the depreciation of Alfa Romeo, there are much better cars out there for that price.

Disappointing as usual, the Alfa should be ashamed. The Alfa is gone for good. I don't know why abroad is so considered. It was, but a long time ago. The price is not good either, let's say that it is aesthetically desirable, but it is not enough. You buy one and then you will start paying, until you decide to sell it, because you are desperate. Just my opinion, and experience, of course. Thanks for the video.

  • @aaronc1500

I was in love with my Giulia and Alfa Romeo as a brand, however, I will never again buy/recommend another Alfa Romeo in my life. I had the brake by wire system fail on me and it caused me to crash and total the car. They sent someone from Bosch to diagnose the vehicle and in the charts it clearly showed that something malfunctioned (brakes were slammed 2 seconds before the impact at 40 MPH and it took more than 1.5 seconds for the speed to start going down.) Stellantis told me that they were not going to take responsibility for it and that I needed to have my insurance pay for the vehicle. Absolute garbage. I will never recommend this car brand to anyone again! Buy an AUDI, BMW or Mercedes instead!!!!!

Aaron C you are a *TROLL* who really needs to stop spamming every Alfa Romeo video! If what you claim even happened, there's always 2 sides to every story and you cry because you didn't get what you want (full replacement instead of insurance market value?). You're alive... think of fatalities due to proven engineering shortcomings in any car unfortunately, like Audi TT (aero instability) or Tesla (erratic autonomous driving) as examples. Again, if true, you crash a car and *blame a system used by other manufacturers* which is not known to have caused problems to anyone else. Who says you didn't crash due to your inadequate driving skills? GROW UP AND STOP SPAMMING, TROLL and be ashamed you've been dismissed on Alfa forums too.
