  • Fan car competes in motorsport for the first time since 1978.
McMurtry Automotive and F1 driver Max Chilton target victory and will attempt outright record at Goodwood Festival of Speed with fully electric fan car.
    • We are entering our 1000bhp/tonne, RWD electric fan car into the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb Shootout
    • Aim is to win the event and strive to challenge the outright record
    • Unique Fan Car upgraded with 2000kg of instant downforce (available from 0 mph)
    • This is more downforce than an F1 car up to 150mph
    • 0-60mph in under 1.5 seconds
    • Max Chilton (former F1 driver) and Alex Summers (British Hillclimb Championship leader) are driving
    • The last time a fan car competed in motorsport was when Niki Lauda won the Swedish F1 GP in 1978 with the Brabham BT46B, it was subsequently withdrawn from future races due to its projected dominance, to keep competitors’ content
This new chapter in fan car history will be available to watch on the Goodwood live TH-cam stream or in person at the event: 16.10 Saturday for Qualifying and 15.30 Sunday for the Shootout (provisional times).
    See you there.

Congratulations Gentlemen of McMurtry Automotive for the new record obtained. Your new McMurtry Spéirling car is wonderful, surprisingly ultra fast, demonstrating the technological capacity of your company in the development of new electrical technologies, combining the most advanced current technologies with the best of the past such as the self-ventilating Brabham Bt46B fan car, winner of the GP of Sweden in Formula 1 in 1978, when the great Niki Lauda won that race in Anderstorp. With the reasonable dimensions of a Formula 1 from the 60s. Now, Max Chilton (former Formula 1 driver and current IndyCar driver) made Goodwood history by shattering the circuit record at Goodwood Road & Racing's infamous Festival of Speed. He did it aboard his electric car, the McMurtry Spéirling, with a time of 39 "08 for the 1,800 meters of said circuit, smashing the official record set by Nick Heidfield with a McLaren MP4 / 13 Formula 1.
The future is electric, "faster", "further".

A rotor in free air is different from the concept of fan car, in the same way do you think that the SR.N4 hovercraft required 350,000 kgf of jet/rotor power to float? That's the power of 3 777s at full blast. The math for this type of stuff is different then a rotor in free air, also do you think it's cornering at 3G on 240mm slicks using magic?
