DIMA OVTCHAROV + HEMING HU PRACTICE

Practicing with Dima Ovtcharov at the 2018 Men’s World Cup.

I lost my group on the first day of play and he started the next day his first match (he was seeded high and didn’t play groups), and asked me to warm him up.

Last year I played Dima at the start of the year at the Team World Cup in February (3-1 loss) and then practiced with him a lot at the October Men’s Singles World Cup.

It was a really nice experience training with someone I look up to very much, and also a really nice guy!

I also practiced with Samsonov at this tournament and that was a dream come true, playing with one of my childhood heroes.

Dima plays each ball so strong and fast all the time. I found the biggest difference with Dima and Vladi Samsonov in their game style was that Vladi gets a lot more spin on his shots and mixes the pace up much more! Obviously Dima being the faster/cleaner and more powerful player. Vladi for me was a nightmare to play against in the points, so hard to win a point...

Heming to be honest, you have a far far far BETTER forehand than Dima. like miles miles ahead.
Better contact, better use of legs, better weight shifting, better forearm swing motion, better starting and finishing position = which leads to more speed, spin and power!!!!
dima just got better coaches, experiences, better competitive environment, ambience and surrounded by many world class top players. and yes he has better arsenal of serves. 😅
forehand, you are just miles better.
