    Out of the top guys i think xu xin has the most interesting style. Left handed... pen hold... with the unconventional backhand. Not to mention crazy playstyle.

    1:37 three beautiful shots in one play: reverse backhand lob, backhand loop from way back followed by a forehand loop. Next forehand loop ended the point. The camera captured the amazing curves from his loops.
    This man's loops carry such beautiful curves, equivalent to Michael Jordan's elegant hang time in the air.

    People watching Xu Xin for years probably saw that it wasn't a question of the power of his backhand. It was the consistency with it that was the limiter. Relative to the other very top pros, it was behind. But times have changed and if you see any younger penholders now who have been playing RPB from day one, their backhands are great. Honestly they play a lot like shakehanders. They're just doing it with penhold.

    • @girish325

      You could not have said that better. The modern ph players like Alexis and Qi Dong use penhold as shake hand and play closer to the table..none even come close to xu xin in terms of how beautiful it is to watch

    쉬신이 기적적으로 재활에 성공해 파리올림픽에 나왔으면 좋겠다... 물론 우리선수들과 붙는일은 없었으면 좋겠다... 모든경기를 다 승리하는 것은 아니지만 그의 플레이는 운동(스포츠) 그 이상의 예술이다. 그를 전세계 탁구팬들이 더 볼수있었으면... 간절히 바란다. 그는 올림픽 금메달을 얻을 자격이 이미 오래전부터 있었다... i love xu xin.

    If Ryu Seung Min developed RPB during his heydays, he could have continued to play many years more. having said that, his FH is still the most brutal in Table Tennis history.

    • @17teacmrocks
      @17teacmrocks 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      no. I've talked to players who've played him. His fh is not that strong. He had a ton of spin early on with Bryce + Speed glue, but nowadays with the plastic ball spin matters less while speed and power became more important. they say the most powerful fh of that area was WLQ. in demo videos, you can see his fh loop *after* bouncing could break through glass panes.

    I Really Mourned When XX Retired for Real.. The only Player that Consistently Refused to Be Defeated By Non-Chinese Top Player (in My Book)... Now all We're left with is Chorimoto's and No Style having and Not Fun to Watch Players.. 😔😔😔

      agreed Harimoto is annoying af and most of the top players nowadays are just "see who can counterattack faster and stronger". Literally who got better reflex and movement wins. No style whatsoever. It's almost kinda sad watching all these stat check meta games.
