    That's awesome, 30 minutes went by like nothing. Maybe because I was drinking Very Old Barton Kentucky Mules.
    :-)
    My only .02 would be to try to keep in mind that there may be some bourbon newbies tuning in so taking a second or two 'for the new folks to bourbon' to quickly explain any acronyms most of us take for granted. The explanation of MGP was close but it was never stated what it actually stood for. I know myself but just saying. I've been drinking bourbon for over 30 years but just within the last year or so started to actually 'learn' about bourbon. So stuff like - what is barrel proof, single barrel, small batch, mash bill....MGP, what does the 101 mean in Wild Turkey 101. I work in the I.T. field and as difficult as it can be to remember for someone doing something for over 20 years, I try my best to explain things in simple terms but still get the knowledge across.
    Sorry for the ramble...remember the part about drinking...?
    ;-)

      No this is not out there anymore. It was in the late 90's to around 05 or 06. Real pretty bottle with blue filigree around the label and I think the front label was blue paint and the back was paper with the year bottled written on it.

      Calling it "Tennessee Whiskey" instead of bourbon seems to be a source of state pride and a marketing choice. If the company wanted to call it bourbon they could (AFAIK) do so without breaking any rules. I think Jack tastes fine, but I think of it as being the same kind of liquor as Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, etc. The more we get hung up on labels, the more removed we are from the actual thing itself.

    Ancient Ancient Age is even better still super cheap. The evan b.i.b. new vintage is not half as good unfortunately still value but about 2 years ago that stuff was incredible. J.T.S. is making its way out of kentucky as well. Rare breed and russels single are just unreal value and flavor. Knob creek single unreal at 45 bucks thank you very much 100 times better than 9 out of 10 bottles of bookers. The bottles of small batch without the 9 are not as good as new with i.m.o. "Ill go" i wrote this before he said it Belle meades cask strength super nice 59.99. New label not hand written though and at 108 every bottle i hope its as good. Could not agree more. Great show thanks guys. Dying to try Chattanooga. Screw controversy old no. 7 no good everything from gentleman to the entry level is fantastic the single barrel for 50 bucks are you kidding me so good. Ecbp readily in pnw but stagg jr is gone. Everything old forrester from 86 on so good. The 100 proof is so good too (shhhh). Sip awhile was my fav. From 2016 or 17 i forget. Shiny barrel my least fav in awhile. Distillers cut was available and way better for another 5 than repeal i like repeal but you have to like white label i.m.o. ill revisit repeal cause its still on shelf i think. Great call on woodford i missed it unfourtalnetly. What about evan Williams single for 31.99 i know 86 proof is low but i love those had not had the 2012 yet. My Father owns a Liquor Store in TN and it amazes us how many people sleep on the George Dickel line. The No.12 for the price is amazing, and even the No. 8 is a great mixer. The GD BIB was named Whisky of the year in 2019. I think the stigma of the name Dickel turns people off I guess. In blind tastings it consistently does better than most people expect.

    Have had the MGP distillery discussion with many of whisky drinker and we all seem to feel that it is misleading to sell your "Whistle Pig MGP" as a true small distillery product, especially when the words on the bottle make your mouth water for a taste of home, then you find out that your whiskey is made at Wal-Mert. Should be labeled that it is made by MGP.

    Jack Daniel is Tennessee whiskey not Bourbon!🥃

    • @snotpu
      @snotpu 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what the bottle says, but taste-wise it passes for one. Here's what one internet source says: "Jack Daniel's chooses not to call itself bourbon, but the historic brand applies for federal label approval under the class of bourbon and Tennessee whiskey is listed as straight bourbon in the North American Free Trade Agreement"

      Same mash bill as a Bourbon just like George Dickel. Only difference is it goes through the Lincoln County Process which is they charcoal filter.

    There are two different taste preferences in whiskey, old and new. I'm a member of the new whiskey fans. For 37 years until he died, I bought 14 day aged whiskey from a bootlegger in Western North Carolina. It was absolutely the BEST whiskey I ever drank. Beyond 3 years, I can't tell the difference. For me, the old whiskey tend to lose their taste. New whiskey, for me, have many more facets in taste. My bottom shelf favorite is definitely Evan Williams 100 proof bottled in bond followed closely by Rebel Yell 100 proof bottled in bond. Everybody distills 80 proof whiskey so they have something cheap to sell to the alcoholics.

  • @igloo2862

    JD Barrel Proof is swill. People who say it's good don't know anything about whiskey and never add water to their whiskey, so they don't really taste it and they just want high proof to numb their taste buds.

      not every whisky needs water, not even every cask strength, there is also such thing as strong or weak palate, which determines the optimal serving to the person

    • @igloo2862
      @igloo2862 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yurius I “optimal” serving is based on your preference, but real tasters (like tasters that work in the distillery) all add water

There was only a couple I didn't have - I will definitely go get them. I know its been 8 months since you you posted this video, but if anyone likes this list these guys presented, get your hands on Redemption 9 yr old, 109 proof - and - Bull Run 129 proof. If you like Rare Breed or JD SiB BP, you should like these. Cheers My Brothers!
