Excellent list. I think of all these, Elijah Craig SMall Batch is the most underlooked and under-appreciated. It is my favorite budget daily (I get it for $23 a bottle).
Buffalo Trace $25 Chattanooga 111 $42 Old Grad 114 $26 Knob Creek 9 $40 Evan Williams BIB $19 If you have not had the chance to try the 111 its amazing! I'm afraid it will be a hard find in years to come.
Lol! When I sip Lagavulin 16. I get sweetness, grilled pineapple 🍍, beach bonfire 🔥, salty air… I know there is no salt, but you know what I mean the remembrance of salt. It’s my absolute favorite Islay Whisky 🥃
Jeremy thanks for being out there making everyday a little bit better, have some troubles figuring out what to do with my life atm, the videos are great to relax and just chill :)
few people believe how great Elijah actually is, because of the price point. But honestly, i've surprised SO many people with it. Another that used to be cheaper was Henry McKenna, but sadly the price was driven WAY UP!
I am more or less the whisky guru in my social circle, have been watching whisky channels like Ralfy for years, already know my favorite budget whiskies, my 7 favorite go tos, etc., BUT still really enjoy videos like this. Nice list!

As soon as I heard your description of the Ardbeg 10 I knew I needed that in my life. I love it!! It is weird, I can think of no conventional descriptors that anyone would consider appealing- there is something about it, can't put my finger on it...... thank you, made my weekend.
Add Four Roses single barrel to this list my friend, such a damn good bourbon to me. And a +1 go that double oaked, it's so good. I went on that distillery tour and I couldn't agree more, such an amazing part of Kentucky.
I grew up down the road from that distillery and I just learned about it last year. I plan on stopping by when I see my dad for christmas. It is a really nice distillery.
I agree. Or maybe even a top 5 cigars for beginners. The first one I ever tried was given to me by a friend and I have to admit it tasted like a dog ate it 3 days before I got to smoke it! Don't remember the brand.
I’m in college and my father and I have recently gotten into Scotch and cigars. I’d say I’m definitely more into cigars than my father where he is closer to the whiskey side than I am, but nonetheless we have been enjoying it. Being pretty new to it all, I enjoy watching your videos because they are laid back and I don’t feel like I’m out of place being a “newbie.” I know you may be pretty busy, but keep making these kinds of videos whenever you can!
Hey Jeremy, I love your posts, I live in Australia where the cigars are a bit dearer! Nothing beats a good cigar with a decent scotch and I took you up on the Ardberg, man that is peaty. I love it
Woodford double oak is one of my favorites. If you like the flavors that come with that you should really try old forester 1910. VERY similar, and REALLY GOOD!!! only problem is that it is much harder to come across than woodford.. 😔. Definitely a must try though.
Thank you for the Ardbeg recommendation! I like Laphroaig and its a favorite scotch of mine it kinda resembles Ardbeg but if you really like the smokey aroma and flavor of scotch you'd love "Laphroaig"
Finally got to the liquor spot and picked up a bottle of Elijah Craig Small Batch. I've just started my journey down the Whiskey Road. Wish me luck. Very nice first act my friend. Thx for the suggest.
Great list! Started to widen my horizons by venturing into whiskey/bourbon/scotch during a walleye fishing trip to Canada. I'm a huge ipa/craft beer fan (and red wine when going out with my wife and no I don't have a problem)) but really enjoy a pour after dinner....I just treated myself with 2 new ones I had never tried 9Merry Christmas!), Ardbeg 10 ($55 gift pack here in Phoenix) and Angel's Envy ($36 during the once a year sale at Fry's Grocery Store). I agree with Elijah Craig and believe 1792, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve and Larceny ($25 here in Phoenix) are excellent for the money. I hope everyone is able to enjoy the holidays with family and friends and a toast "To all of us hard working men and woman for a memorable Man Shit 2020!"
Agreed. I just picked up a bottle for the first time a few days ago and it's just amazing. Another bourbon I've been enjoying a lot is Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Poured over a few ice cubes and letting it sit for a few minutes, the flavor is outstanding.
I agree with a few comments listed below regarding the Laphroig line. I would like to hear your opinion on the ten and my personal (but expensive) favorite Lore. I would also love to see a top 5 cigars for beginners. Great videos, keep up the good work.
i try to tell any and everyone who will listen but crown royal blender's mash is the best inexpensive whiskey!! It has a nice flavor and is the smoothest whiskey under 40$
Very nice. I have some Elijah Craig small batch on hand so that was a nice plug. Also nice that you plugged the whiskey tribe guys. Nice channel and good to see that everyone is in this together.
I generally do not like pairing my whiskies and cigars. But when I do I have had a hard time finding the best combination. I will say that the ardbeg 10 and Kentucky fire curred cigar is the perfect pairing. They compliment each other so well. The cigar smells like Peat but the taste is like a delicious barbecue sauce. It is also very smoky and again compliment a perfect pairing.
Thanks to you, I started sampling bourbon again. Still haven't tried Elijah, four roses, Woodford, or Michters because I can literally find them anywhere. I walked in one week to buy some, the store had some Buffalo trace. Next week that was gone but eagle rare was in its spot. Those two are damn good. Cheers
I had a bottle of 8 year Elijah Craig that I bought after a recommendation. I liked it. However, I took a small flask of it Pheasant hunting a year ago. It was cold out and we had been finding nothing due to the wind conditions. When I finished hunting, I sipped a draw off of the flask. I don't know if it had something to do with the exertion or the temperature but all of the harshness that it usually there was gone. It literally tasted a bit like orange marmalade. I thought I was going nutty so I had a couple of friends who are also into whiskey give it a shot and they noticed the same flavor profile. Much smoother, much sweeter. I loved it. When I got home and was rested I took a drink of it and it was back to its old self again. Don't know what the science is behind that but I liked it.
Hey Jeremy! I’m in Canada and I’m a real Bourbon drinker and because of your recommendation I tried Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and it may not be my favourite but it’s definitely in my top 5 favourites! I will always have it at my home bar! Thanks man!!!
Just turned 50 mid April. Have not touched whiskey since I was 22-23 years old. A friend bought me a bottle of four roses single barrel and its pretty decent. I picked up the Elijah Craig today. Will give it a try this evening. Buffalo Trace is easy for us to get in Missouri so It will be my next purchase due to all the recommendations I have received. Might have to look at that American Whiskey too.
So excited to hear your take on Woodford Double Oakes! Recently discovered it. Not a huge fan of original Woodford, but the double oaked is a towered marshmallow and breakfast syrup, but not obnoxiously sweet. Bravo.
Hey Man, absolutely badass video! These are all very solid pours all for there own reason and the reason I enjoy them for that reason. I do agree that peat/smoke can really catch people off guard, lol. Cheers and really love these videos!
17:33 @Jeremy Siers this is the best recommendation for a bourbon, as I’ve now gone through 2 bottles of Woodford reserve double oaked. I now recommend this to my friends 👍
Great review. Love the Ardbeg Ano, which is a more approachable step to the peat stuff. Same price as the 10. Love the Michter's American Whiskey as well. Hard to find but its great.
As I was younger in my teens I loved so much sugar in everything and chocolate this chocolate that but now as I'm older less and less sugar and I like more pungent flavors like Mustard etc but then the first time I tried scotch I just couldn't handle it and now some years later it's been my favorite to drink
I'm a Kentucky boy myself. I am a big bourbon fan, especially double oaked Woodford Reserve. I've been on the tour of Woodford Reserve, it is an awesome facility. This video has got me wanting to try some new stuff. Great vid, keep it up!
If you get a chance, you should get a bottle of The Octomore. Very expensive but if you like the Ardbeg, Octomore is the most heavily peated scotch made
Speyburn 10 year, it's about 30 bucks in my area and it is absolutely amazing. Super buttery nose with a great sherry sweetness and a slight earthy taste. If you want a budget Islay scotch just to see if you even like the heavy peat and saltyness that comes from the region try McClellands Islay, not as good as laphroaig or ardbeg but it gives you a $20 sample of what to expect and if you think you could handle it go for the more expensive one.
Man! It is so nice to hear that someone else has my experience with Islay to Sweet Whisky. I have tried to explain to people that sweet to Islay makes the Islay taste bad, but the other way around opens my palate up to the non smokey whiskies! Glad you mentioned it! That's how I work too!
Great commentary, Have the last (3) in my collection, EC SB is the straight up go to, on any given evening. Dalmore was great but it has been a number of years. Was just telling a friend of Ardbeg, will have to find a 10yr. Tonight, will pour a drab of my WRDO. Glasses up!!!!
Wild Turkey Rare Breed more rye then most but well balanced 56%abv it’s my go to whiskey..for $46....four roses single barrel ...is wonderful too $43 ....Ardbeg Coryvrecken is one of my all time favorites 56%abv ...is a whirlpool explosion of char , smoke , band aid and some vanilla....I slay scotch certainly is a developed taste over time but once you get there ...it’s the best
Toasting happens before charring, it’s basically just lightly putting a barrel on a grill (no flame). Charring is actually burning the inside of the barrel
What? No Eagle Rare... I've finally got a chance to try it and now I'm like an addict driving all over town trying to find it but can't... Agh!!! I will try the Elijah Craig. Nice video and review as always..
Love the Islays! Definitely with the Kentucky Fired and English Pipe tobaccos, a very gentle choice is Bunnahabhain 12. Been enjoying Speysides like Arberlour A'bunagh small batch. Love Elijah Craig small batch, but out here it is aver $80.
mtbostick67 most definitely... I believe the amount of rye on the mash bill being lower than the average high rye paid off which allowed a diverse array of flavor. Not as spicy as most ryes for sure
Love to see an Islay "no $ limit" favorites list. Ps, my friends and I bought your RedHorse knife for another buddies 50th B-day. He has very discerning taste, and absolutely loved it!
I too have visited the woodford distillery and loved it. That is where I discovered the double oaked bourbon. Needless to say, it is my go to drink now. I enjoy watching your videos and take note of your comments when describing flavors of whiskey, scotch and bourbon. I’ve been hell bent on bourbon for a number of years now and am just starting to open up to trying other types like Canadian whiskey and scotch. I must admit, scotch is a bit of a challenge for me since the flavors are so different from my usual bourbon. The scotch that I’ve tried simply taste bland. Maybe I just haven’t found the right one yet. I’ll be taking notes from your videos and thanks for making them.
Try some Lagavulin or Ardbeg, definitely nothing bland about those. they are a bit of a challenge and waaaaay different than bourbon. You’ll either love it or hate it 😜 I have found after drinking isle scotches like Ardbeg when I go back to bourbon they are even sweeter and I pick up on things I didn’t before. It’s a fun experiment for whiskey lovers. Cheers 🥃
LOL my man I almost pissed myself laughing at that Chris Brown joke. If I could give you 10 thumbs up just for that joke alone I would. Great review, just like the whiskey different stokes for different folks
Yer right-it’s true, We, in North of America love maple syrup! I put it in my coffee. Islay malts are my favourites (esp. Laphroaig Quarter Cask). As for paring w. maple syrup, I would go to Macallan 12yo @ $99.95 in Canada.
So I'm and island boy and grew up on spiced rum, specifically Haitian rum. If you know the 8 star it burns your soul but i loved it. Recently i wanted to get into cigars and whiskey and came across this channel. I bought the Dalmore and i think just being in Jersey the price was $70, but...........HOLY CRAP!! Guys its smooth with so much flavor. Couldn't get a davidoff but hey found a drink. Its so good I kind of don't want to drink it cause i want it to last haha. Thanks Jeremy!!
i love the fact that Im sitting here enjoying a glass of bourbon and a cigar when i get the notification of this video. Almost like just sitting in your cigar room talking about man shit. lol
Count me in as a subscriber...whisky and cigars...giddy up! Dalmore is one of my favourite scotches, discovered while in vacation in Scotland a couple of summers ago. I always have a bottle of it on hand with a Glenlivet 15. Bourbon is growing on me so I tried the Woodford Reserve Double Barrel and it’s fantastic! Available in Ontario at the LCBO for $69.99 a bottle. It’s right up there with Blanton’s for me...love it and it’s going to be a permanent bottle in my house selections.
As a Louisville expat myself, I completely agree with Elijah Craig. Can't go wrong with Woodford. I discovered how much I like Four Roses Single Barrel and Small Batch after visiting the distillery this past fall. Good video.
I quit smoking more than 6 years ago and I don’t like whiskey, but somehow the atmosphere of this channel keeps me watching every video that’s out there! 😂 Keep doing your thing, man, you’re nailing it!
Ardbeg 10...smells like a dumpster fire of band aids and pine tar...doesn't taste much better either. The Elijah Craig, however is magical! Like others have suggested, 4 Roses Single Barrel is really good for the price point. Can we talk about how good Wild Turkey 101 is for right around $20? Keep up the good work on the videos, brother!
I just requested a video just like this a few days ago. Thank you Jeremy! Dalamore is fantastic. Drinking a glass now. May I suggest four roses single barrel and Jonnie walker black or green. Fantastic scotches as well. Although buffalo trace and eagle rare are my go to bourbons.
@@johndavolta3124 that's what is so wonderful about opinions! You've got yours and we've got ours. I personally think laphroig tastes like the smell of bandaids and can't stand it. Does it make your love of it wrong? No. Its what YOU like. To quote some well known whiskey reviewers, "the best whiskey is the whiskey you like to drink the way you like to drink it".
@@macsaeki So far, I wasn't impressed. Prefer bourbon. I also got Big Peat - that is something! But, as mr. Siers notes, it's a matter of taste. I'd advise to first buy a glass at a bar and decide for yourself.
Hey Jeremy, love your videos. I bought a bottle of Ardbeg after watching this video. Really, really good! Smokey, peaty yummyness. Have you ever tried Laphroaig? It's also an Islay single malt. It's one of my favorites. Give it a try if you haven't. You won't be disappointed.
Okay but is no one going to comment on how amazing this man's b-roll is!?
Chase Mayer that shit was intense loll he must have a solid team behind the scenes!!
That is some serious Peter McKinnon shit
@@and98chi Totally is! Incredible! LOL
He has a vid on how he makes great B-roll
It's ight. I dig.
List starts at 3:57
1. Ardbeg 10 - Scotch
2. Dalmore 12 - Scotch
3. Michter’s - American Whiskey
4. Elijah Craig - Small Batch
Great video this guy is awsome. I made my own whiskey dispenser and it came out great
If you can’t find Eagle rare try Russell’s 10
Forgot to add the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked.
Usually I'd say thank you but this guy is actually really entertaining
You're going God work
Excellent list. I think of all these, Elijah Craig SMall Batch is the most underlooked and under-appreciated. It is my favorite budget daily (I get it for $23 a bottle).
Buffalo Trace $25
Chattanooga 111 $42
Old Grad 114 $26
Knob Creek 9 $40
Evan Williams BIB $19
If you have not had the chance to try the 111 its amazing! I'm afraid it will be a hard find in years to come.
I was not expecting the Ardbeg cut scene, that was so cool!
Agreed. Cool cut scene.
Completely agree on both Michter’s and Double Oaked. Both have permanent places on my shelf.
Your first AND last picks were my favorites. If you had mentioned Laphroig I'd have been in heaven. Kudos for a man who knows his whiskeys.
Brother Mutant73 laphroiag is my favorite too!
Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength was my first ever Whisky and still is my favorite, that or Laphroaig Lore.
Ditto!
Try Balvenie
If Elijah Craig is a hug, Ardbeg is a 12 man cage match.
🤣🤣🤣
few people believe how great Elijah actually is, because of the price point. But honestly, i've surprised SO many people with it. Another that used to be cheaper was Henry McKenna, but sadly the price was driven WAY UP!
xDDDD
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm not sure why or if I got a bad bottle but I don't like the Elijah Craig Small Batch. Love the Ardbeg 10 though. Curious on the Michter's American.
I am more or less the whisky guru in my social circle, have been watching whisky channels like Ralfy for years, already know my favorite budget whiskies, my 7 favorite go tos, etc., BUT still really enjoy videos like this. Nice list!
I took your advice on the Woodford reserve and its Amazing!
Glad to see you back, but could I request that you list the recommended cigars also along the Whiskey's.
Whiskey in general is newer territory for me, but I've taken to it quickly. I had gotten curious about scotch and came across this video.
Beautiful up there! 👍🏻
Yes!! Four Roses single barrel is a fantastic value. It punches above it's weight class, for sure.
I grew up down the road from that distillery and I just learned about it last year. I plan on stopping by when I see my dad for christmas. It is a really nice distillery.
Can't find that stuff, it's always gone...gotta be good. I hear it's a dead ringer for the Pappy Van Winkle
I been hearing more about four roses.
::Secretly watches "Man Shit Monday" because I love Whiskey/Whisky::
YES GIRL SAME.
Although a little above the $50 range, Balvenie Doublewood is also an excellent intro scotch for bourbon drinkers
My list:
1. 1792
2. Makers Mark Cas strength
3. Woodford Reserve double oak
4. Elijah Craig
5. Jack Daniels Honey
Can we get a video on some of your opinions of the best budget cigars?
I agree. Or maybe even a top 5 cigars for beginners. The first one I ever tried was given to me by a friend and I have to admit it tasted like a dog ate it 3 days before I got to smoke it! Don't remember the brand.
Punch cigars are awesome budget smokes. Two blends, The Rare Corojo and the Nicaraguan Puro smoke like $10+ cigars but I can buy for around $5.
There's other pretty good punch cigars at $3 too
@@thomasbuck303 Punch Champion is legit too!
Thompson Cigar. Get the 40 pack of Nicaraguan cigars.

For some reason a shot of whiskey helps me go to bed. I drink a shot every night before bed.
Key to a long life! If only I can relegate myself to just a shot....😳😂
It's getting to that point for me just to go to work.
Because alcohol is a depressant
Whiskey: "reminds me of breakfast." Me too, my friend. Me too.
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is definitely my absolute favorite bourbon (that I've tried thus far). Amazing stuff.

This is literally my dream youtube channel.
Rarely have I been this entertained by a video in any genre, but you made my day. Thanks and cheers! 🥃
A good Islay is like licking a newly tared dock. It's peat, seaweed and seagull droppings. Give it a few drops of water and it'll taste even more.
Love Woodford double oaked, I agree Jeremy.
Totally agree about the Elijah Craig the trouble here in Australia its 80 bucks a bottle, it used to be the same price point as Makers.
Knob Creek Single Barrel 120 proof is awesome and smooth. And its affordable at $50.
Thanks to you, I started sampling bourbon again. Still haven't tried Elijah, four roses, Woodford, or Michters because I can literally find them anywhere. 17:33 @Jeremy Siers this is the best recommendation for a bourbon, as I’ve now gone through 2 bottles of Woodford reserve double oaked.
I now recommend this to my friends 👍
He lives!! Love the guys at the Whiskey Tribe
Great list of some quality whiskeys!
I'd recommend Talisker 10 if you like Ardbeg and Lagavulin. Burly, salty, full of pepper and leather. Michter's makes a delicious Rye, as well.
Gonna have to get a bottle of that. Lots of recommendations for that one. 😉👍🏻
Great review. Love the Ardbeg Ano, which is a more approachable step to the peat stuff. Same price as the 10. Love the Michter's American Whiskey as well. Hard to find but its great.

Never has a video made me wish I still smoked as much as this one. I so badly miss the smell and taste of cigars.
I bought my first ever bottle of scotch based on this video, absolutely loved the Ardbeg 10. Thanks.

One that's in my top 5 and I get those maple notes on is Russell's Reserve 10 year bourbon.
Woodford double oaked is my favorite bourbon, so so good. Thanks for the recommendations!
Strawberry Daiquiri nearly killed me lmaooooooooooooo. Elijah Craig, I can finish in a few days. So good.
Andre Fuller the craig is beautiful and readily available. The eagle rare I tend to find more at target than anywhere else i dont know why lmfao
@@TheKoog97 I'll give Target a try. But yes, the Elijah is readily available in my area. Thanks
Elijah Craig barrel proof is amazing. Try to find it.
The combination with a Liga prevada and the Elijah Craig was AMAZING! Thx for the tip!
Tried the Woodford Reserve today and it was so amazing.
mtbostick67 have you had the Rye?
@@YUCAYEQUE No, is it good?
mtbostick67 most definitely... I believe the amount of rye on the mash bill being lower than the average high rye paid off which allowed a diverse array of flavor. Not as spicy as most ryes for sure
@@YUCAYEQUE I will try it next time. Not sure if my local store has it. Thanks.
mtbostick67 good luck on your hunt. Today I picked up the Ardbeg 10... it is really good but for the seasoned taste. I’m glad I made the move
Love to see an Islay "no $ limit" favorites list. Ps, my friends and I bought your RedHorse knife for another buddies 50th B-day. He has very discerning taste, and absolutely loved it!
I am Canadian and I can answer your question: Yes. Yes, we do.
You’ll either love it or hate it 😜
I have found after drinking isle scotches like Ardbeg when I go back to bourbon they are even sweeter and I pick up on things I didn’t before.
I’ve got a ECSmB that was a store pick and it is amazing, for $29.99...a steal!!
This is awsome. I created my personal Whiskey Dispenser out of brass..
I never thought I’d see Ardbeg & Dalmore 12 in the same context. 🤔
Very different for sure. Love them both though 😉
I dont know what is more scary .Dalmore 12 or the cigar next to Ardbeg.
This video just helped me to appreciate whiskey more. Very appreciated. Literally.
So I think Jeremy is telling me to drink Woodford reserve and eat pancakes. And I appreciate that!
As a Louisville expat myself, I completely agree with Elijah Craig. Can't go wrong with Woodford. I discovered how much I like Four Roses Single Barrel and Small Batch after visiting the distillery this past fall. Good video.
Honorable mention: Wild Turkey Rare Breed!! Barrel proof for $45.
Rare Breed is magnificent, especially for the price.... One might even call it a 'rare breed'....
I'll show myself out.
Got mine for $35 on close out at state liquor store
Agreed. The Russell's Reserve 10 year (same distillery) is in the same price range here and excellent also.
Fantastic video / pairing cigars with whiskeys is a passion for me and your recommendations are outstanding!
That is excatly how i expect an whiskey recommandation video.... A Guy with a Cigar .. Really great Video... You earned a new Sub
Good one, this is my top 5 under $50 Bourbon list:
1. Bulleit
2. Woodford Reserve DO
3. Makers 46
4. Elijah Craig
5. Buffalo Trace
I think Green Label is very underrated...great scotch.
Jonnie walker whiskies are blended junk, not worth the money. With what you pay for a green label you can get a Laphroig or Glenmorangie.
@@Bykerboy26 agree with you, specially on the band aid smell.
Bought myself a Dalmore 12 for Christmas because of this video. Thanks, man!
how is it? thinking the same lol
@@macsaeki So far, I wasn't impressed. Prefer bourbon. I also got Big Peat - that is something! But, as mr. Siers notes, it's a matter of taste. I'd advise to first buy a glass at a bar and decide for yourself.
Richard Paterson Master Distiller for Dalmore. Search him for all the details on the whiskey and some laughs as well!
Dalmore is shit....yuck
Dalmore Cigar malt and King Alexander III are both divine
Hey Jeremy, love your videos. I bought a bottle of Ardbeg after watching this video. Really, really good! Smokey, peaty yummyness. Have you ever tried Laphroaig? It's also an Islay single malt. It's one of my favorites. Give it a try if you haven't. You won't be disappointed.
