Gnarly. Restrained. Purposeful, and above all else, full of soul. Nard was an absolute monster. He'll be sorely missed.

Bernard’s solo is one of the gnarliest things I’ve ever heard. I love the reactions from the band. It’s so sad what happened to him. He will be missed.

I think those trumpet notes from "Jean Pierre" really made Nard feel like he was playing with Miles again and it sounded like it!
RIP Nard and thank you for that last gift to us all.
Jeff, you made my day! 💙

Bernard Wright's death was one of the saddest event of the planet jazz. From his debut album "Nard" till his piano solo mini concert available on this very link here, he was not only playing with the greats but was great himself, all with a touching modesty and humanity.

Another winner from them. I thought it sounded familiar. It just came out a month ago and I believe heard it as soon as I saw the alert. The (confirmed when I saw Bernard Wright and heard that purposely "sloppy" trumpet sloppily. Awesome to listen to...like always!

Thanks for the reaction video Jeff. The guys in another video said 'Nard was a mentor to the band and if you pay close attention you can see that he has been imortalized with his portrait on the DEEP Ellum "Wall of Fame"...

Great reaction to a great cut, Jeff... FYI---JT Thomas & Larnell started drumming with the band when Sput Searight was their primary but was also spending time co-leading "Ghost Note" with Nate. When Sput left to devote full time to "Ghost Note," Jamieson Ross was added, after first being a member of the band "NOLA International" on Family Dinner - Volume 2... Both Larnell & Jamieson are also singer-songwriters with albums released...😎

Wow. That was indescribably good. How can something in some ways so basic at the same time be so unbelievably complex and beautiful? Nard saved some of his best for last. He will be missed.

ON the ONE. Lots of Homage to Parliament> P-Funk mythology. They just took this to another level. Loved the sound of 3 drummers. wow.

Now That’s just what we needed, right?!?😃🥳🌈💃🏼🕺🏻😄👍🏼.
So funky, jazzy and playful in a way being both grounded, yet playing around in all kinds of wonderful and curious ways and both inside and outside the box …. love it!!🌈🔥🔥😃🤗
My imagination kinda saw like a childrens “gang” walking about exploring and out on adventures together, getting all kinda ideas, having fun, things happens on the way, and at the last part one of them says: “Hey, look at all those delicious apples just hanging there on the tree in their garden! Do you think that they would mind us picking some?! “ And another one said: “Take It! Just Take It! We got your back!” Climbing up the apple tree, everything going swell, a little dangerous at times up there in the top branches swaying in all kinds of directions, but what a thrill and view!!! And all of a sudden the garden door opens, and 3 men come out directly at them, and with apples falling out of pockets and carried in t-shirts and what have you, they run!!! Run run run!! Run for their lives!!!!💨🤣😂😂😂😅 And that’s where the drums come in at the ending🔥💥🤣😂😂😅.
Reeeeeally amazing drums if I may say so btw.!!🔥🔥🔥🥁🥁🥁🤯😃🥰
I’m sorry - just me and my pictures, movies and stuff firing off sometimes when listening to music🌈😂🙂🙃🙂😄. This was just soo enjoyable, and I couldn’t help myself - please, bear with me🙈😂😅.
Btw. are you okay, Jeff? Maybe caught a cold? If so - wishing you a speedy recovery and all the best🙏🏼❤️💚💚💚💚🌱🕯🤗
Thank you for making this great and joyful reaction to the incredible Snarky Pubby-piece from their recent album anyway😘🌈💚🫶🏼🤗.

@@peterkoeppl1186 Hey Peter👋🏼☺️. Thank you so much!🤗 A bit colorful, I know, but sometimes that’s how I perceive music when turning off the “technical” ear and brain😄🌈😉.
Btw.: Wasn’t meant as being insensitive re. Bernard Wright and his passing🙏🏼😔😌. Simply as another kinda celebration of the outcome - incl. his beautiful participation in this masterpiece as a whole - and in another kinda colorful appreciation of the listening journey being given to us …. many exploring roads one can take in this🌈💜🎶🤗.
Been a bit under the weather and troubled in some ways, but the world is full of beautiful people and experiences, too, and for that I’m very grateful🙏🏼🌈💜❤️💚🤗.
Thank you for being so conciderate, Peter💚 - I hope that all is well by you, too💚🤗.

I'm not a musician but I knew Nard was doing something technically funky by the reaction of the musicians during the solo and at the end. I wish there was a wide shot of all the drummers so I can see what their role was during the song. I first heard of Benard Wright when he played the bass line on the keyboard to Tom Browne's Jamaica Funk in the late 70's. That was and is the JAM!

I remember reading somewhere that Bernard was killed in a car-pedestrian accident a few days after this recording. Can't remember where I saw the note. Can anyone confirm, or deny this? Man, I hope this was just a baseless rumor.

@Steve Box it is a Clavinet with a whammy bar. If you listen carefully, a LOT of what sounds like guitar w/distortion is actually Bobby Sparks playing fills with that Clavinet. Check out the clip of Snarky Puppy playing this song live at the Ground Up music festival. Sparks burns it up with his solo!
