I was at this show. Iron Maiden headlined and Megadeth was supposed to be here but couldn't make it and Testament filled in for them. I still have my Monsters of Rock T-shirt and ticket stub from this show. If I remember right, it was estimated to be around 200,000 people to be here for this event but don't quote me. I was only 14 years old at the time and very memorable with great friends. Thank You for showing this on TH-cam! This really takes me down memory lane and I'll never forget! Makes me feel like I was apart of Heavy Metal History for sure 🤘🤘

The week previously (Donington Park) over 300 TMS3 Boxes were used.
100 were owned by Maiden, 100 came from Brit Row Productions, and 100 came from a Rental Company in France.
That set a Guinness World Record for the largest single controlled system, that still stands today.

I was at Donnington this same year but we didn’t have Anthrax we got Kiss 😂
I saw Anthrax in London early 1989 on the State of Euphoria tour supported by Living Colour. They were so fucking unbelievable I went back the next night and got a scalped ticket (for face value!). Immense .
Us 17yr old white boys loved I’m the Man at the time, but holy shit it’s cringeworthy now. But it took us to actual hip hop which was such a good thing. They were such a great fucking band back then. Up to and including Got The Time they were awesome. None cooler.

This was from the Mosh Tv show maybe? I think interviewer 1 is Gotz Kuehnemund or something like that who also wrote for Metal Hammer and at the end you see Sabina Klaassen from Holy Moses. It was the only metal show we had until MTV started doing it (or got on the cable).
I taped the shows on VHS then played it loud on the TV and recorded that on my tape recorder. The TV was in a huge oak bookcase which made for a good low end.

It was done on purpose...same thing with the Rap/ Hip Hop thing...they wanted to be different from the rest of the bands, who only wore black, and were serious, unfunny. It made them look original. Of course, it also made a lot of ppl not become interested in them.
