@@entrancemperium5506 I feel the same, although I totally respect and love Lombardo’s legendary career behind the kit. I just feel Charlie plays with more control and Dave’s style is a little more manic and loose in it’s groove. Like a roller coaster bout to go off the tracks but always manages to stay on. Apples and oranges I guess but both incredible. I think Charlie is really gonna start getting his just due, after the Pantera reunion runs it’s course. It’s opening him up to a lot of new audiences.
Joey couldn't have messed the lyrics up any worse, if he'd been on crack. Great performance, but he almost totally forgot the lyrics, which is understandable, because basically the only songs that they play live, from State of Euphoria, are Antisocial, which isn't even their own song, and Be all, End all. I've never understood all the hate for this album. It is my personal favorite from them, and Danny was on top of his game on this record. Never better.
500erider Dude I Totally Concur with you. I'm going to see them tomorrow night for the first time Live. I know they have had a crappy set list for years but I always miss seeing them cause they always mostly do festival gigs or open. But tomorrow night is their own gig, and only one opening Band. I'm pretty Stoked ! But trying not to dwell on their setlist.
Anders Jørgensen It sure turned to out to be a Fucking Masterpiece ! And it's NO Excuse to not play those songs for the Fans tha Fuckin Love those songs !
And, I'm glad that they did. They would have ruined it, if they'd over thought it. Same with Metallica, and many other bands. Kill 'Em All was done in a very short period of time, but yet, James and co. talk smack about the way it sounds. It is perfect, as is. Can you imagine what James and Lars would do to this record, if it were recorded today ? Fame allows bands the money to have large amounts of studio time, where they are able to just beat the songs to death until they are basically sterilized, and to me, it's a bad thing, in a lot of cases. Some of the best records ever, were done in mere days. State of Euphoria is awesome. WAY better than Among the Living, in my book. And, I know I'm in a minority, but, whatever. It is what it is, and I love what it is.
Best line-up. Best set-up. Best phase from Anthrax🤘Wanna go to the festival but i had to work. 😭. My favorite band since i heard them on a local radio station (Radio Zosch/Nbg) 1982! Happy new year from germany!
One of the few times back then, you’d see Dan Spitz not playing the Ninja Turtle Flying V. These were indeed the good ol days. Even Charlie and Scott with long hair lol.
You know, Anthrax often gets the short end of comparisons among the Big Four, because their music was a little quirkier, their fashion was un-metal, etc. And people are going to have their favorites music-wise, but when you really look at it, this lineup of Anthrax was probably the most virtuosic collection of musicians in the Big Four at each instrument: Vocals - no contest, Joey has one of the best metal voices ever and approaches Bruce Dickenson levels of range, power and now longevity Drums - of course Lombardo is a beast but the only one who I think compared to Charlie was Nick Menza, in terms of being a really musical drummer Bass - hands down Frankie is the best of the Big Four. Listen to the lines in this song! Rhythm Guitar - obviously a lot of competition here but I think you can make a case for Scott being the most solid riffer and most entertaining stage presence 😁 Lead Guitar - again, lots of competition, Mustaine is a legend at both rhythm and lead but I'd put Dan's solos against his or Marty Friedman's any day - they fit and improve every song. And everyone cracked on him for looking bored on stage, but that's probably because it was just coming so easy for him 🤣
This clip makes me really miss my vision shoes... and the days when Anthrax gave zero fucks about looking tough or cool and eschewed trite heavy metal trappings like pentagrams and black t-shirts in favor of wardrobe seen here.
i see you literally everywhere on youtube comments. you even inspire me to start youtube as well. i made a few videos lately but i will fully commit to it soon ..
Yes, this is from the Monsters Of Rock tour in Europe. Maiden headlined it. Metallica were also on the bill for a couple of dates, there's footage of them playing in Barcelona I think (it was spain at least), and you can see the Seventh Son stageset that they're playing on. Megadeth was on the bill at Doningtion, after that show they had to drop out due to Dave & Dave's drug problems. Even GNR opened for Maiden in USA for a couple of dates that year.
This song in the album is TERRIBLE. In the new episodes that anthrax is doing he says some song on this record are actually rushed and incomplete. This song is DEFINITELY one of those. You can hear it normally and then it just feels like it skips a beat and then it all sounds wrong. That’s crazy! I didn’t know that….
Amazing band and Joey is by far the best singer and im glad he's in the band but dude he messed up those lyrics hard but it's understandable because they only play Antisocial also his voice is cracking alot because I believe this is towards the end of the tour and his voice was really shot
Still a beast on Gi tar! All kidding aside, I really miss having him in the line-up! He was and will always be the only lead for Anthrax! He's been a master watchmaker now for many years, but I am sure he can still shred with the best of them!
And especially old favorite 🤘🏻🔥 Joey was especially on point in this era
Just listen to Charlie’s double bass drums just flying. I swear I love Lombardo but I always felt Charlie was the best drummer out of the Big 4

The man is an animal. Seen Anthrax live just once as a opener and I gotta say, even thats hard to top. LOVE these guys.
No lie. Benante is hands down the best of the big four, and that includes ALL the Megadeth drummers. Solid, innovative, consistent, tight, pro.
Damn, Charlie is a monster!
Julian Fairall he is a fucking drumming beast. Him and dave Lombardo are not human lol.
The exact comment i was going to make :)
A time machine!
Beast mode
4:47 James Hetfeild discovers time travel in the early 2000’s and uses it to watch Anthrax thrash it out in 1988.
thank you ANTHRAX for amazing shows

And I'm still waiting for their release of the "State of Euphoria" deluxe edition ! It seems as if they are lagging....
The album was rushed according to Scott Ian.

John Bush was a great vocalist and frontman in the 90s and 2000s too. Some say even better than the awesome Joey Belladonna
I was stationed in Schweinfurt...I miss Germany
Awesome!
Dany Spitz should retourn!
Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘🇵🇹
Had to comeback and listen again for the thousandth time lol. Damn Frankie’s bass was loud AF! Nice!!!! 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
No wonder they were called the big four, Thrax , Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer blowed the shit out of everyone else
Absolutely, but across the pond I think Sodom and Kreator were also putting out some of the best thrash ever
Came back here to say, if this don’t prove Charlie’s the damn goat 🐐 outta the Big 4 drummers, nothing does bitches!!!!! 🤘🏾
Bad Ass !!! Anthrax Rules !!!!🤘🤘
Quite possibly the greatest Anthrax song.
💯
Frank going insane on that bAss

Right dude, remember those? I have the Black Suede and Brown Suede.
I mean, Joey's wearing a black shirt but ok
Frankie has one too. but yeah, the jams make up for it
I bet Charlie dreaded playing this song live. ;)
i see you literally everywhere on youtube comments. you even inspire me to start youtube as well. i made a few videos lately but i will fully commit to it soon ..
That Raffaello Jackson ❤️
Fuck yeaaaaaahhhh!
Is that iron maiden seventh son stage behind anthrax
Kiss stage
Iron Maiden was the headliner. I was there.

Obviously, you Can Play With Madness lmao!

Weird, this is one of my favorite from the album.
And yet is one of their best albums. lol
Amazing band and Joey is by far the best singer and im glad he's in the band but dude he messed up those lyrics hard but it's understandable because they only play Antisocial also his voice is cracking alot because I believe this is towards the end of the tour and his voice was really shot
divinyls at the end, nice
Dan spitz always bored lol
Not really. He’s head banging away, in the Antisocial video towards the end 😊

Nice song, it just shows how far behind the USA were compared to the Brits in the 80s
