I feel bad for young rock fans who will never experience quite how magical this era was, to live through it, to hear, see and feel it for real! A golden age of music I’m proud to have witnessed and loved and always will. When these bands are gone, they’re gone, there are none waiting in the wings! Glory days!! 😢

There are actually MANY pure, good rock bands floating around right now.
      Audiences simply don’t care anymore.
Sad to say, but only a small minority of the earth’s population will care about the passing of these legends.

I have nothing but huge respect and admiration for this legend of a man! Unlike most of his colleagues from other bands, he was never disrespectful or rude to his fans, he never performed drunk, drugged or naked, he has no tatoos, and was never involved in scandals or affairs. He has always been a respectful, decent, well-spoken gentleman, a very nice human being who doesn't look down on people. A legend in every sense! 💗

@@andybaker7954No his voice was not on the way out. This isn't a studio recording. These songs are extremely difficult to sing live. You would hardly call what a hard tour? They were 102 shows into a 115 show tour. The show you were at in 1983 when you were drunk was of course a lot better. 😂 We get it.

    • @andybaker7954

@@mr.brenman2132I think you need to wash your ears out & listen properly. This is completely different to the real Whitesnake and yes he’s shouting rather that singing. 115 shows is not a huge tour compared with what a lot of bands do. And no I wasn’t drunk as I had a long drive home. You’re probably one of those who thought he still sounded great on their final tour when he actually sounded dreadful. 🙄

Just how good is your band when your Guitarist can sing like John did on his "Blue Murder" material. David gets to walk around telling other bands "My guitarist is a better singer than most bands lead vocalists!...and he shreds the hell out his guitar!"

I have always respected and admired David Coverdale for being very nice, polite, honest and respectful to his fans. Even at that time in 1990, when his private life was falling apart and God knows what was happening inside his heart and soul, he has never shown a sign of disrespect, bad mood or anger in front of his audience. His level of professionalism and sincere gratitude to his fans are just incredible. There are hundreds of "stars" with a fake smile, but only one with a pure heart, wonderful music and beautiful voice - Sir David Coverdale! ❤❤❤

lol are you kidding? Vai was the biggest guitarist in the world at that point. He was on the cover of every metal mag, musicians mag, rock press, the lot. He was at his absolute peak here in terms of his fame. It was mentioned in one magazine that the biggest draws that year at Donington were Poison, due to their previous lack of UK appearances, and on top was Vai, he was the main draw. EVERYBODY wanted to see Steve, without him the Slip Of The Tongue tour wouldnt have been half as successful. Coverdale was a smart man and knew having him there would boost things.

No. Vai had just come straight off the back of his David Lee Roth gig, had just released Passion and Warfare, had the biggest selling Signature guitar of the era if not of all time with excetion of teh Les Paul...(and is seen here playing the Steve Vai Universe which spawned the craze for 7 string guitars), had got Joe Satriani signed and was on the cover of every guitar magazine with interviews and tabs..not to mention his appearance in Crossroads at the same time.

Actually the experience you describe is called a heavy metal show, there are literally thousands of heavy metal bands out there, take your pick. And once covid ends support them by seeing them live!

Vai is so badass he was a free agent for awhile. If memory serves, it was publicized he joined Whitesnake for $1M. When a milly meant something.

10+ years later, $1M would only be an advance for Jason Newsted's replacement.

A million still means alot! Ask any new rock artist trying to make it if they'll take a million!! Only older established bands make money now. Couldn't tell you the last new rock record that actually made money

      @Rock N' Roll Junkie
      Agreed.
Tommy's definitely killing it on drums here.
Interestingly, this was from 1990, when Tommy was still endorsing Zildjian cymbals.
He's been a Paiste cymbal endorser since 2003.
(Listening to this live recording of Whitesnake, you can definitely hear why Tommy switched to endorsing Paiste cymbals.
They cut through so much better than these Zildjian cymbals do.
And I was a Zildjian cymbal player for many years myself.
But most of the heaviest drummers play Paiste cymbals for one simple reason:
They cut through hard rock/heavy metal amplification far better than Zildjian, Sabian, or Meinl.
John Bonham, Ian Paice, Scott Travis, the late Dave Holland, Stewart Copeland, Nicko McBrain, Brian Downey, Tommy Lee, Aquiles Priester, and several other high profile drummers endorse Paiste cymbals.
Ian Paice is such a stalwart Paiste endorser that he stayed with Paiste even after he left Ludwig Drums to endorse Pearl Drums.
Stewart Copeland even has a Paiste custom signature blue big bell ride.
Nicko McBrain has an entire Paiste Custom Signature Reflector cymbal set up, which also includes the Paiste logo done in the Iron Maiden font.)
Tommy has endorsed Yamaha drums since 1982.
Previous to that, he endorsed Sonor drums.
