  • Here is my Seiko Presage Cocktail Time Blue Moon Review! The SRPB41 or SARY073 has got to be the watch with the best looking blue dial ever under $500.
    I mean: there is nothing coming close to this dial, even for 10x the price. It's that impressive.

    I also love the crown even the light hits the crown and makes it pop. I'm glad they did this movement because of the size. I'll take the thinner case thickness. That movement and that gold rotor looks so much better in person than it does on camera or in pictures.

    Bought the white dial SRPB77 with the blue hands. I use it as my dress watch. I’m not a fan on the stock bracelet (folded end link and cheap, thin clasp) so I’ve ordered the leather strap from Seiko with the deployment clasp (for a whopping $135 CAD from Seiko). I know people gripe about the downgrade from the 6R15 to the 4R35, but I usually only wear this for a day at most so power reserve or accuracy isn’t a big deal for my use. I like the look of the new cocktail time watches better than the old SARB065 anyhow. The large onion crown looks better and I like how the hour markers are no longer broken in two pieces (always looked strange to me). They also made the Hardlex boxed crystal thinner on the new models so it wears slightly thinner. For the price, these are an amazing watch and I can’t stop looking at it when I wear it.

    That is super nice! But the only thing is that it’s harder to match with other straps. Will you do a video on vintage omegas? Might be a good idea for smaller wrists and can be good value too

    • @TimedSquare
      @TimedSquare  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can pair it with a black strap (even if it's not the best match) or any brown strap: dark brown, camel brown, ... it works beautifully. I won't make videos about vintage watches because I'm not a big fan of them. I just prefer modern designs, but you're definitely right: they offer great value for money and suit smaller wrists no problem! This is actually why I talk about "watches for small wrists" and not only "small watches": I think more modern and bigger watches can still work. Not always, but sometimes :) TGV form The Urban Gentry is a lot more into vintage watches now and has a small wrist too, you might want to check his latest video th-cam.com/video/sfJmTVk3_L8/w-d-xo.html Cheers!

    Comparable in style and beauty to the Orient Star. (The two companies really look related.)They share the same drawback: the lack of sapphire crystal. I prefer the Orient Star because of the power reserve feature and because it's smaller than the Seiko. As you yourself stated, the time on the Seiko watch is not always so clear at certain angles, given a certain amount of light. Another clear rival: the small seconds, champagne-colored bambino. It has the advantage of being over 100 dollars less expensive than the other 2.

    This or the original one are my favourite ones in the cocktail time lineup. I would love to eventually get one to review for my own blog and to keep. But at $500 Canadian it is a bit out of my price range for the foreseeable future. With how my fashion is though I could see it being an everyday wearer for me splitting duty between it and my Ice Watch in midnight blue which is just a pretty watch to look at sometimes.
    If I go with this version of the Cocktail Time I think I would pair it with either a grey, brown or light blue Vario Harris Tweed strap.

    • @TimedSquare
      @TimedSquare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amazingly enough, this watch can pair with a wide range of colors, including black (because of the gradient on the outer part of the dial). This could very well make a great 1-watch collection... but who wants only one watch? :)

    • @ColinLack
      @ColinLack 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me, it would integrate with my wardrobe comprised of mostly blues, greys and browns. And agreed on the only one watch! By the way, have you ever looked at the Seiko SUP880? It reminds me so much of a watch my granddad had that I'm considering adding it to my collection at some point, and having that one be my really formal watch.

    • @TimedSquare
      @TimedSquare  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ColinLack Colin Lack I never was a big fan of the Cartier Tank so this SUP880 is no different. When I started this hobby, I gravitated toward dressier pieces, because I saw a lot of watch fans talking about them with the usual suspects: SARB065, Orient Bambino, ... This is why I have the Cocktail Time in Blue and the Certina DS-1. But as time goes by, I go back to my roots which are sportier options with more wrist presence. Thankfully, the latter is easy to achieve on my small wrist ;) Now I totally get why so many people love the Tank vibe, but it's not for me. But boy would this hobby be boring if we all loved the same things! My only-one-watch would be Omega Aqua Terra 38mm in white or the AP Royal Oak 15450ST (ultimate grail).

    I have one of these, and while the dial is beautiful, it can be very hard to read.
    The dial makes radial highlights that almost mimic hands (0:52), AND depending on the angle, the polished hands can go black. (2:22 and 2:47 and 3:03)
    This watch taught me that I really don't like polished hands; brushed ones are always more readable.

      It can be a very nice daily driver! The case is Hardlex, not Sapphire (still better than just glass) so it will be very scratch resistant.
      If you wear a suit to work it will be a very nice dress watch, but you can leave it on and go on a date or go swimming with it and use it the whole day.
      You will get many compliments, especially if you use a brown leather strap. This watch's dial is gorgeous in real life!

    • @jacc88888
      @jacc88888 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe use your gut instinct. Guess it depends whether you would rather have a slightly more conservative look (the Sarx) or a watch with a bit more flair (the cocktail time). Also the Sarx has a higher end movement and perhaps more complex finishing (with brushes and polished surfaces). I bought the blue dial cocktail time today and am not disappointed - the dial is absolutely stunning and looks amazing in certain types of light. Also the watch feels likes it is superb quality and is just perfectly proportioned .

    Nice looking watch, but the minute hand is too short, no sapphire crystal, 4R35 instead of 6R15 movement. The SARB 033 and 035 were better bargains.

  • @mikesmith5389
    @mikesmith5389 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love that watch but it's so disappointing that you don't get the full beauty of the watch in normal light and it needs strong sunlight to see it at its best. Because of that I would favour the ice blue model instead where you can see the true beauty in any light. Also the model with the power reserve and date dial rather than the date window looks even better. If I could only choose one watch to wear it would be the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time. The fact it isn't a diver is a plus plus for me, I don't understand the fanatical fascination with the Submariner, there are so many homages to that watch it's not cool anymore, the sophistication of the Seiko beats it by miles.
