How to video on catching mud minnows! I'll show you what I use for bait when trapping for bait fish and where I like to set my traps to GUARANTEE BAIT.

I catch Muds commercially and have found over the years that fresh crushed crabs work best. But if you can find oysters and put a few with the crab, BINGO
So I’ve been trapping muds with your trap and also with the soft net ones from Amazon, and they are catching 10x the minnows, I think they can’t swim out the openings as easy when you go to pull it. I’ve been freezing the cat food, fish food balls and a 10 minute soak is getting me around 20 muds per trap.
Okay so you think you know everything tell me this. Just kidding. I would be interested in knowing how you keep the evil green crabs out of my traps. I get a few mimichogs which have been chewed to chit by the crabs. I have to MacGyver away to keep the pot 6 or 8 in off the bottom to make it more difficult for the crabs. Any ideas on how I could MacGyver that? Placement is far more difficult than I anticipated as well and I live in a town called Marshfield. Go figure

Mud minnows are one of my go to. I like that there easy to catch

For the most part between south Ponte Vedra and Crescent Beach but no where is off limits

I might give this a try. What if you froze that bait ball overnight, would it hold up a little better in the trap?
Definitely a good idea if you need it to last longer. I usually still have a little bait left in the trap by the time I pick it up.

Not sure my man, I don't really have an issue with any crabs getting into my traps.
Just put a mashed crab or some shrimp carcasses in it and be done with it
True that, cat food and bird food are a little more accessible.
I won't catch mud minnows in a sewer because there's a lot of poops and bacteria in there so I will catch mud minnows in a fresh pond or river.
Haha I don't blame you. This drainage ditch was from neighborhood culverts coming out onto the intracoastal.

They are for bait silly
Poop doesnt come out of culverts into the intracoastal. That's illegal.
